We chose this gite partly for the location but also because the facilities suited our needs. We received a very warm welcome and found the owner had put in a fan and kept curtains closed to ensure the gite wasn't too warm in the very hot weather we experienced while we were there. Unlike on some previous occasions we got...

We finally made it, arriving at the Dovecote around 4.00pm. We were welcomed by our host and set ourselves up for a weeks holiday. The Dovecote was lovely, quiet and nice views, it had everything necessary for a wonderful stay. We had fallow deer every morning chomping shrubbery across from our bedroom window and a cheeky red squirrel running around...

We stayed for a week in post Christmas 2015 and had a wonderful, restful, time. The Dovecote was ideal being about 20mins walk from a well stocked supermarket and a little bit further is the historic town of Chinon, with a good selection of restaurants. The 2 bedroom accommodation is in a small tower, which was once a dovecote, within...

We were surprised to find that our booked holiday accomodation was part of an old chateau; and delighted to meet M. Duthu, a most agreeable and helpful host. "The Theatre" has 3 large bedrooms, a large livingroom-kitchen and 2 bathrooms, one of which has a shower in a turret. The creaky floorboards add an historic element as do the mullioned...

I've stayed there as a couple and family of four--our favorite place to stay in France (we're from the U.S.). Amazing chateau, beautiful views and woods to stroll. The proprietor is kind, accommodating and speaks/understands perfect english--he grew up in this castle which makes it that much more special. Great accommodations and distance from the center of town. Highly recommend!

The Chateau de la Vauguyon used to be owned by Cardinal Richelieu's (the bad guy in the three musketeer films) butler. It is now owned by Mousier Celian Duthu (pronounced Dew Chew). He is very knowledgeable, friendly and speaks very good English. We stayed in Chateau de la Vauguyon, Rue de la Vauguyon, Parilly, 37500 Chinon in October 2013. The...

Very dog friendly place (we took 2 dogs), with a friendly and welcoming host. The Chateau De La Vauguyon is a lovely setting. There are also spectacular views across to Chinon from the front rooms. Restaurants are within walking distance, although slightly more than a 5 minute stroll… Aug 2012.

Property is really excellent, unusual in shape, well situated approx. 5km from the village centre but in the countryside with no noise. There is a supermarket within walking distance about 1-1.5km and a bar/restaurant although there are ample eating establishments in village centre. Proprietor lives in the chateau adjoining and is most helpful and amenable for any local advice, and...
