We stayed on a recommendation on our family drive down to the Dordogne and were made to feel very welcome by Shaun. We are a family with 2 young daughters and we had 2 spacious, and well provisioned rooms in close proximity, and felt extremely comfortable with having the kids in their own room (which they enjoyed very much!). The...

Langeais is a lovely area worth visiting and Clos de Rebalais adds to the experience. Shaun and Gillian were warm and welcoming hosts and the house is interesting with lots of space for relaxing for guests. Our room was lovely, breakfast plentiful. I highly recommend the Clos for a holiday. Sorry we only had one night there.

I began my month long trip to France at Le Clos Rabelais for three nights. Shaun was lovely! Very sweet, informative, considerate (he was always making sure that my bed was comfortable, if I needed anything, etc). He and the housekeeper, Martine, wound up making dinner one night for me and two other guests (a couple from San Diego, CA)....

Having searched high and low for an available guest house for 5 x persons (seemingly during the busiest weekend of the year!) we stumbled upon Le Clos Rabelais... And what a fantastic stumble that was. From start to finish, the stay was full of laughter, wine and then some more wine, all while being welcomed and entertained by Shaun, the...

Would highly recommend this place. A wonderful bed and breakfast with delightful hosts who were so welcoming, I have a small dog who was made to feel totally at home. We thoroughly enjoyed staying here from the second we arrived and were offered a glass of complementary wine. Breakfast was fresh croissants and brioche with fruit and yoghurt and super...

My annual journey south included my now annual journey break in the Loire. My fifth time at Le Clos Rabelais was just as good as always! Comfy bed, great hosts and a great base for seeing some of the main delights of the Loire region! I'll be back again next year!

My husband and I, and our two boys, loved this place. We stayed for a week. Shaun is funny, entertaining, and welcoming. Patrick joined us toward the end of the stay. They are great hosts. The place itself has lots of public space to just hang out, the rooms are comfy, and the food is great. The village is charming,...

Upon arriving we we're not met by Patrick (in England) but by his partner (Shaun). Our accommodations were up a two-story outside spiral staircase at the back of the property. Imagine carrying two big suitcases up those narrow staircase (we were lucky that the handyman did it for us). Our room's floors were dirty, had cobwebs throughout, and mosquitoes and...

This was an excellent stopover on a long drive, and we appreciated the friendly welcome, Shaun's entertaining company and conversation, and a very well-prepared and tasty evening meal, as well as a good breakfast. The guests' lounge/dining area was large, comfortably furnished and welcoming. We were accommodated in the uphill annexe which was quiet - though getting there might be...

We are on the edge of the town of Langeais, so the cafes, restaurants, shops and station are within a 5-10 minute walk of the house. The property is gated so parking is safe. The 15thCentury chateau, which has the only working drawbridge in France, is one of the most popular in the Loire Valley and there is a popular Sunday-morning market selling local produce should you be here at the weekend. ... more   less
