Garden room 242 was spacious by European standards, and had a nice view of the garden. Less expensive than Arr. 6 hotels, and a good value, this hotel is in a fabulous residential neighborhood for walking, and there are beaucoup restaurants, food stores and tourist sites within an easy walk of the hotel.

We are in Paris...So Don't Sweat the Small Stuff! The Hotel des Grandes Ecoles website has few pictures, so we weren't really prepared for the tiny room accommodations! My husband joked that he could stretch his arms across the room and touch both walls!! It was really hot in Paris while we were vacationing so the lack of air conditioning...

A lovely little Hotel in the Latin Quarter , near the Pantheon. Beautiful gardens , with outside table to sit and admire or have breakfast . Lovely breakfast of fresh croissants , baguette , jam cheese and hot coffee. Staff were very friendly, even to swapping rooms , when we asked for a room with shower and not a bath....

This is the 3rd time we have stayed here so obviously we like it. Let's be straight, this not a fancy place - the rooms are small and have none of the extras like TV or a bar fridge. Having said that, it is in a great left bank location, lots of eating options, close to major attractions like Notre...

The hotel is quaint, comfortable, cordial, quiet, and clean. The neighborhood is a little scruffy, but not scary. It's close enough to Notre Dame and the Latin Quarter nightlife to be convenient, but not as touristy as actually staying in the Quarter. There are some great local restaurants.

What the Hotel des Grandes Ecoles might lack in amenities, it more than makes up for in charm. The staff members are welcoming and always try to please. The beds are a little on the small side. Room rates are very reasonable. The rooms are tastefully decorated in traditional French wall papers. The washrooms are small but efficient. There is...

You enter Hotel des Grandes Ecoles through a large doorway directly off the street and proceed up a peaceful walkway past small tables & chairs to the reception room. The hotel is in a neighborhood with many restaurants, cafes and bars serving foods from around the world. There are also small grocery stores and a laundry near by. Our room...

This is a fantastic hotel right next to the latin district in Paris. We stayed for three nights and will stay every time we go to paris. The breakfast is served in a wonderful garden area with many trees/flowers. It is a nice breakfast and very reasonable at 9 euros which includes a large coffee or coco, a croissant, a...

This was our second visit (last time in 2003). We liked it so much back then we decided to return in 2016 this past July. The room was smaller than the one we had before, and the facility did seem slightly careworn, but everything was quiet (even though we were relatively close to the front lobby) and comfortable, and the...

One of the nicest hotels I have stayed in. Quiet charm and elegance. Friendly service. Lovely room with bath and long windows looking into the garden. To step off a Paris street into a secluded garden was balm to the soul. Paris is an exillerating place to visit, but one needs a retreat between expeditions.

Staying in Quartier Latin

Neighbourhood Profile
Quartier Latin
The Latin Quarter bursts with intellectual life, architectural splendour and ongoing merriment. The small streets are filled with classical buildings, student bars and lively eateries while the squares are dominated by historic monuments. The area is defined by the 800-year-old Sorbonne University, where Latin once prevailed, and is famous for the Pantheon which celebrates the great men and women of France. During the day students rush from classes to the library and intellectuals people watch from the terraced cafés. As night time falls the surrounding establishments fill up and the merriment really begins. The liveliest parts are around Rue Mouffetard, lined with crêperies and international street food eateries, and Place de la Contrescarpe characterised by terraced brasseries, this neighbourhood provides real nourishment for the mind, belly, and soul.
