Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The location was great and the staff super friendly. The rooms comfortable in terms of size, but might needed some freshen up, for instance the bathroom. Overall good place to stay, a bit more overpriced for what it offers.

Our stay at this hotel was very bad , first there was a false alarm multiple times, someone entered our room without permission more than once , and someone who works at the hotel stole money from my pouch but we told the reception and the issue was solved, or so we thought , after we went home they stole our miney yet again and charged my card without permission, and i have been trying to contact the manager for almost a month and the hotel takes a long time to respond and when they do they are not helpful and they refuse to let a manager talk to me. This was easily the worst hotel I’ve stayed at .

I had an amazing stay at this hotel . The place was exactly like the photos (no cat fish). The staff were friendly and very helpful . The location was more than perfect . The place definitely needs a lick of paint however I believe they are renovating it shortly. I have nothing but love for this place and it’s staff .

Excellent hotel, impeccable housekeeping and cleanliness. Excellent breakfast and a special compliment to the staff, who are extremely polite, helpful and attentive. It makes a lot of difference to stay in hotels where the employees are friendly and happy as they, for me, the strong point of the hotel, are the employees. When I return to Paris, I want to stay at this hotel again.

I’m actually scratching my head about the 5 star reviews on here! I stay in this hotel at least 5-6 times a year for work and each time I come I feel like the state of the hotel looks worse. It needs a serious renovation/refresh. My trip this time round there was no heat or hot water in my room - the bathroom sink is always clogged with water when I use it. I would also like to know if I can be rewarded for my loyalty staying at the hotel so many times a year!? Management please take note - your hotel needs a serious refurb!!! I do love the staff though - very polite and always on hand to assist. This is a fabulously located hotel but needs work to justify the 5 stars.

This is an outstanding hotel, made so by the staff as much as the beautiful decor and warm atmosphere. Our room was stunning, their was an air of prestige about the hotel and the staff were exceptionally warm and welcoming. We had a few minor issues with our first room but the staff were quick to assist and resolved things perfectly. You can tell they take pride in the establishment and in giving their guests the best experience. If I could give any feedback I would say making tea and coffee facilities a feature in all rooms would be incredible. It's one thing I know enhances the experience personally. Otherwise it was a perfect stay I would like to thank all of the staff at the Hotel Balzac for making our trip to Paris wonderful.

We booked an Executive room . The toilet was not perfectly working as the water flush was not enough to clean , therefore an additional basked of water has been necessary to perfectly clean the toilet . The shower glass/doors had problem with water overflowing outside . On 2 nights on a total of 3 the turn down has not been made

Fantastic hotel in a great location, we had a short stay here due to visiting friends in Paris and it was very pleasant. The hotel is very clean and has a real French character to it, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The location is perfect, it’s close to the arc de triomphe and you can easily reach Champs Elysees and many other attractions! The only thing I could say against the hotel is very minor and was that when we checked in to our room the television had another guests name on it welcoming them to the hotel.

The property itself is an older building and is in need of updates. The staff is ok with the exception of one concierge. Cons: insects, our bedroom had ants, a hard insect treat for but still. We had to ask 3 times to resolve. No updated television and movie ordering was not functional. Attention to detail, asked for a dinner reservation and was ignored by the “concierge” and had to re ask a new concierge second day. Pros: breakfast/room service staff was great and very cheerful. Good location just off Champs Elysee Bottom line decent but nowhere near a 5 star property that’s is starting to show her age and definitely not kid friendly.

We were celebrating our 30th Wedding Anniversary in Paris and chose a to reserve a Corner Suite at Hotel Balzac - getting a great advance price on Booking.com for just £790 for two nights. Externally a 5 or 6 storey property in classic Parisienne style occupying a corner location at Rue Lord Byron, just a minute's walk from the Champs Elysees. We were greeted at the curb-side from our Limo by a footman and our cases taken to the breathtakingly elegant lobby. We were efficiently checked-in and shown to our Suite (#306 on the third floor). As we stepped into our suite - we were in our living room. It was beautiful. Ornate wooden panelling, central chandelier, elegant lamps dripping with crystal pendants, two reproduction gilded armchairs, comfortable sofa with scatter cushions, reproduction dining table with 3 matching gilded chairs, two huge windows with ornate curtain swags, with one of windows having a view, over rooftops, to the top of the Eiffel Tower. There was a flat-screen TV in an armoire, a minibar, marble coffee tables and a Nespresso coffee machine. I had e-mailed ahead of our stay to advise that we were celebrating a special occasion and we were welcomed in our suite with a complimentary bottle of Pommery Champagne on ice, macarons, mineral water and little pastries. A door from the living room took us to the bedroom. Again beautifully furnished with gilded reproduction furnishings, desk, two bedside tables each of which was monogrammed 'HB' and a huge king-size bed with ornate half-tester canopy, further TV and telephone. The huge window was beautifully draped and swagged in the same style as the living room. A door led from the bedroom to a small dressing-room, with window view to the Eiffel Tower, ample hanging space, hairdryer, digital wall-safe and complimentary grooming items. A second door led from the bedroom into a well appointed bathroom with bath-tub, ornate silver basin, separate walk-in shower cubicle, wc and telephone. There was a good array of complimentary toiletries, plenty of towels, quality bathrobes and slippers. We asked for an iron and ironing board, which were promptly delivered to our suite, although the hotel also offers pressing and laundry services. Each room within the suite a was air-conditioned and although a warm summer evening outside, sleep quality was amazingly good and we had breakfast served in our living room as an alternative to the buffet offer in the restaurant. Housekeeping throughout was immaculate and all staff genuinely pleasant and engaging. The hotel is set around 150 metres up a side street from the Champs Elysees with its offer of high-end shops and also pavement cafes. The nearest Metro station is George V, on the Champs Elysees, which is a 3 minute walk. That Metro station has a direct line to Louvre-Rivoli station (for the Louvre, Rive Gauche and Notre Dame Cathedral) as well as connecting lines to all Paris sights. The Arc de Triomphe is a 5 minute walk. Reception will call you a taxi, but Uber is readily available, offering both standard cars (Uber X) and premium vehicles (Berline) to get you around the city quickly and easily. We would HIGHLY recommend the Hotel Balzac for its opulent luxury, boutique hotel ambience, engaging customer care and very central location. We will certainly be staying again on our next trip to Paris !
