Granted, there are some tourists staying in this area, this is a place filled with locals. If you want to experience Paris by hanging out in the same places as locals (as I did), then this could be a good spot for you. Keep in mind that this is also a sex shop area, but you can walk the centre...

Dear Guest, we thank you for sharing your experience on TripAdvisor. We are pleased to hear you enjoyed our typical parisian area. Indeed, there are adult shops but it is not in the same area, and as you said you can easily avoid this street. We hope to welcome you soon! Sincerely, Eric Rochedy, General Manager

My husband and I stayed here for one week in June and were very happy with this hotel. Our flight arrived early and so we arrived at the hotel in the morning and they had a room available for us immediately. The location is great, one block from the Metro and multiple buses which are fun to catch and see...

We stayed here back in January, I've only just got round to reviewing as I'm looking to go back shortly. This was my Xmas present to see the Moulin Rouge and we stayed here as it was so close. The hotel was easy to find (we drove there) with good parking round the back (have to pay). The reception staff...

Dear Mary, It is so enjoyable to read that you had an enjoyable time in Paris and among us. Indeed, the Mercure Paris Montmartre is very closed to the Moulin Rouge ( a 3 minute-walk). We look forward to welcome you anew very soon! Yours faithfully, Eric Rochedy, General Manager

This was my first time staying in the 18th Arrondissement. This hotel was a great location in proximity to the Metro. Staff were very friendly, efficient and helpful. I was travelling solo and felt safe in the area even at night. One evening, I took in a show and dinner at Moulin Rouge a short walk from the hotel. I...

Stayed 3 nights and the place looks a mess. reception has been moved to a small area to the right of the entrance and looks terrible. The service from the staff in this area was only average, with no apologies for the renovations. We also were not offered any discount, even though this was not the hotel advertised in the...

Nice enough hotel with good sized rooms and well positioned in Montmartre. Was surprised to find no valet on arrival and the construction work in the lobby was a little off-putting. A pile of restaurants nearby and well within walking distance of the Basilica.

Overall the stay was great. Good-sized room with a comfortable bed, located in a convenient part of the city. Furnishings were clean and new. The breakfast was OK - nothing special but nothing really wrong with it. One major drawback was the WiFi, which was mostly useless. I was with a tour group for 3 nights and none of us...

Staying in Montmartre

Neighbourhood Profile
Montmartre
Montmartre is a bustling mix of cultures, colours, and styles which changes from one street to another. Ride the funicular (or, for a real workout, climb the steps) to the sublime Sacré-Coeur (Basilica of the Sacred Heart) with its inspiring view of the city. The church is surrounded by provincial streets and piano bars where tourists, artists, and street entertainers thrive. At the foot of the hill, Boulevard de Clichy features shops not intended for young audiences, while residences are scattered to the north and east. The diverse population includes a large part from the Arab-speaking world, Africa, and Turkey. It’s a corner of Paris full of life and dynamism with charms that can’t be found anywhere else.
