Lovely trip to Paris, easy walk to the Eiffel Tower. Staff were helpful and friendly. Just be aware that if you do drive and park at the hotel that it is not recommended for large cars. We had a large SUV and the entrance to the car park is small and it gets smaller as you descend. You then get on a car lift which was terrifying as the car barely fit and we couldn’t have escaped out the doors or sun roof if we’d had any issues. It was both low and narrow and quite worrying. Other than that, the hotel was very pleasant and breakfast good value.

We have retuned from an excellent stay with Mercure Paris Vaugirard Porte de Versailles. We stayed in room 711 with our two children and there was more than ample space for us all. The staff were so incredibly friendly and helpful. The hotel was immaculate and their was sanitiser was readily available. Due to the pandemic the breakfast buffet was closed but what was served as an alternative was excellent and was definitely worth the €15.00. There is more than enough to make up a small lunch for a picnic in one of Paris’s many beautiful jardins. There is a metro stations steps from the hotel and a little supermarket, Franpix, just around the corner. There are several cafes on the door step and Cafe Eugene which is just along the road serves the most amazing oeufs et jambon. We will definitely return here on our next visit to Paris.

In February 2023, I made a reservation on booking.com for the Mercure Paris Vaugirard Porte De Versailles hotel. The booking was confirmed and I received the confirmation number and even the pin code. Unexpectedly, I received an email from the hotel in March that they cancelled my room without any explanation. I tried calling the hotel and received no response. Finally, I reached out to booking.com who said that the hotel was overbooked. For the “inconvenience” they offered me a 50 euro discount on my stay. I immediately checked the hotel’s vacancies and it showed that my room (and plenty of others) were still available for the same dates but at dramatically higher prices. While I booked the room for 1,330 euros the price had increased to 2,520 euros. When planning a vacation, things happen but this situation was ridiculous. If you have important plans, I would avoid this hotel at all costs. Apparently, if they discover that they gave you too good of a deal they will cancel your booking. This is a hotel not an Airbnb so you expect a certain level of security when making plans. The fact that the hotel did not even respond to my inquiries shows that they really don’t care about their customers or their reputation.

Response from Maryse L, General Manager at Mercure Paris Vaugirard Porte de Versailles Hotel
Responded 24 Feb 2020
Dear Mr Leal Chagas, I thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience at the Hotel Mercure Paris Vaugirard Porte de Versailles. I am really sorry to read that your experience did not meet your expectations. However I’m afraid your comment about the Blocked HDMI access is pretty surprising to me. This is a question of security only especially with kids. The Mercure Paris Vaugirard is used to welcome plenty of kids every week-end and for each children holiday. The hotel is very much of well-known for his kindness with kids. Still remaining at your entire disposal, Regards, Vanessa Carpentier General Manager

I just got back from Paris and enjoyed my stay for the most part at this hotel. I booked through priceline.com and got a decent rate of $97/night.

Pros: Huge rooms, very clean, literally a 2 second walk to the metro, lots of restaurants near by.

Cons: It is a bit out of the way as far as tourist attractions go. Also, my boyfriend was under the impression that the breakfast buffet was included (there were no signs anywhere to say otherwise)- when we tried to ask the staff, none of them could understand English or tell us how much it was. It was quite unplesant upon checkout to learn that the croissants and juice we had cost 15 euros per person per morning!

This is a European hotel chain and I suppose it's best to have a decent grasp of French, as a lot of the staff had very limited English abilities. However, overall, I enjoyed my stay and the very comfortable king size bed more than made up for any misunderstandings.

This was the worst hotel experience of our lives. I would not recommend anyone to book a room in Mercure hotel at Porte de Versailles Vaugirard in Paris. Apart from poor cleaning and confused employees, our 3 year old daughter got stuck in the lift for nearly 1 hour - all by herself crying and being really scared. She was just behind me and the door to the lift closed very quickly, I put my foot between the doors and normally the security mechanism should open the doors again, instead they got totally stuck. They could not be pulled open and no pressing of any buttons helped. My poor daughter was terrified and scared and it took technicians almost 45 minutes to open up the door. When they finally got the doors open I was furious, this should not be able to happen and it also causes a great security risk – doors of a lift like that should never get stuck! I said to the manager that we want our money back, and he said: Ok, if you don’t want to pay, you don’t have to pay. The next day at checkout, he told us that we would get less than half of our money back. We told him that is not OK, we agreed the day before to get a full refund because of this horrible experience. Then suddenly the hotel owner and director came out of his office. He started going crazy and screamed and yelled at us that he would call the police if we didn’t agree to these terms. It was shocking to say the least; We went through a terrible situation and my daughter could get traumas riding in lifts in the future and this is the treatment we get?! If the French police would have arrived I’m sure it would have gotten even worse, so we finally took the small compensation they offered and left, shaking and amazed. This is by far the worst hotel experience I’ve experienced and would never recommend this hotel to anybody. This is not what you would expect from a 4-star hotel in the Mercure-chain. Unfortunatly I didn't catch the owner screaming at us but here is a video of our little girl being saved, check out her face and you'll understand what we went through. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10151680722986288&set=vb.540366287&type=3&theater

Although this hotel is located on the perimeter of Paris, the wonderful service and room made this hotel stay very enjoyable.
It's conveniently located right off of the metro and is near many decent restaurants. Since it is located near a mostly residential area, the neighborhood is very quiet and safe.

The front desk is very helpful and willing to answer any questions.

The only major downside was the hotel breakfast. Even if you're tired, don't give into the hotel breakfast! It's 15E/person and it consists of canned fruit, croissants, cheese, eggs, bacon and sausages. These might sound nice, but the quality is definitely lacking!

Overall, we had a great time at the Mercure.

Dear Janine, I refer to your message. The Beauvais airport is located about 1:30 our hotel. Unfortunately I can not give you the price of a taxi, knowing that it is a counter that defines the final price, depending on travel time. I wish you a good day Regards, Maryse LOBE Room division manager

Hi Not sure for the taxi sorry however it may be worth checking out a company called Paris shuttle who wait at the airport in arrivals for you with your name on a board We thought they were reasonable and very good instead of trying to get a taxi
