The hotel offered us a place to rest our weary head in a very nice location, but besides that the hotel was not much of an experience. The positive aspects of our stay was the excellent location near the heart of Montmartre. We could walk to Sacre Coeur, bistros, bakers, vegetable shops, tourist shops and the metro station in a...

The hotel is located near Moulin Rouge, so this is not a recommended area for a family. Its hard to get here with heavy luggage, so I will just recomend it to backpackers. On the plus side, its near to the Sacred Heart, and all the coffee shops surrounding it. Has some creperies down the street and free wifi. The...

The headline says it all. The location is great, with several metro stations in walking distance 5-7 min. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We arrived earlier than agreed upon, and we still got to check in. BUT, the rooms are very small and old fashioned. The closet couldt fully open the doors, because the bed was in the...

The hotel room does not match the photos. The room was so small that the door was hitting the bed and could not be fully opened, doors on the wardrobe were missing, hair dryer was broken and corners of rooms was mold. This was mold in corridors of the hotel. After complaint the hotel staff changed the room, without apology...

After spending time in the comfort hotel in Manchester and being very impressed my husband thought the one in Paris would be a great way to celebrate my 60th birthday. Big mistake!!! The hotel is grotty to say the least! The room was tiny and was very damp you had to squeeze in the door as the bed only allowed...

This obviously isn't the best hotel out there, but it isn't terrible. It is an average hotel in a really nice location. Montamarte is very homey and very safe. Also, this was by far the best value hotel within walking distance of Paris. The staff was friendly and the girl at the front desk even saved some breakfast croissants for...

Tired hotel, but nice location. Right in the heart of Montmarte. Tons of restaurants and bars around. Felt that Parisian vibe right away in the area. Our room even had a balcony, and we heard someone playing La Vie en Rose on their guitar across the street in their apartment. No air conditioning, so the room was hot in the...

The hotel is nothing like advertised. The pictures make it look quite good, but in reality when you actually see the place for yourself, you instantly regret spending money on it. There is a booklet you get at the reception, it says stuff like toothpaste, toothbrushes, razors, hot water and tea are available at the reception. None were available. Even...

Staying in Montmartre

Neighbourhood Profile
Montmartre is a bustling mix of cultures, colours, and styles which changes from one street to another. Ride the funicular (or, for a real workout, climb the steps) to the sublime Sacré-Coeur (Basilica of the Sacred Heart) with its inspiring view of the city. The church is surrounded by provincial streets and piano bars where tourists, artists, and street entertainers thrive. At the foot of the hill, Boulevard de Clichy features shops not intended for young audiences, while residences are scattered to the north and east. The diverse population includes a large part from the Arab-speaking world, Africa, and Turkey. It’s a corner of Paris full of life and dynamism with charms that can’t be found anywhere else.

“Bring a kettle if you want tea! (I'm sure this isn't news to people who are well traveled around Europe though). Also bring a reading lamp/light as there was no top light in our room, only the bedside lamps. Finally, hang your towels on the hangers in the wardrobe to dry as there's very little room in the bathroom to hang them off to dry sufficiently overnight (plus, the wardrobe was near the heating, so they dried pretty quickly). ”
