We were slightly put off initially by the neighbouring properties, but this is an excellent hotel. Reception is friendly, efficient and informative; decoration calm and tasteful, and everything is immaculately clean. Our room was, as we were warned, small, but overlooked the canal with a small terrace, and was comfortable, and had an en suite bathroom. The town is less... More

The walled town of Aigues Mortes is a great place to stay for a long weekend. The hotel is a pleasant walk from outside the town walls along the canal. Rooms are modern and comfortable and ours led onto a small pool terrace. Breakfast can be eaten outside and there is a good selection of pastries, fruit, cheeses and cereals.... More

This hotel, as the name suggests, is adjacent to the canal. Our balcony overlooks the water, excellent for old boaters like us! The room is fairly small but as it's only to sleep in that's not a problem, and with the additional balcony is light and airy. The bathroom has a bath with overhead shower, lovely soap and toiletries. We... More

We were greeted by quite the most helpful hotel staff I have ever experienced and like another reviewer we were given recommendations for a number of restaurants - all of which we tried and all of which were excellent; just as sound were their recommendations for places to visit. Top tips - avoid the main square in Aigues-Mortes for eating... More

Don't be put off by the location right on the main road into Aigues Mortes next to what appears to be large retail/factory units. The view of the canal from the other side is much more pleasing and the centre of town is just a 10 minute stroll along the canal. We had two canal view rooms (glimpses rather than... More

Stayed here on a recent. short break to explore the Camargue region of France before heading inland. This hotel has fairly small rooms, however the friendliness of the staff could not be bettered, we were given a choice of at least half a dozen restaurants that the owner recommended. Her advice was sound .The venue we ate at had gypsy... More

Having booked a room with a balcony overlooking the canal, we made full use of the wonderful weather drinking a glass or two of the local Gris de Gris rose wine watching the boats and local wildlife. The swimming pool was an added bonus cooling us down after wandering around the shops of the ancient town of Aigues-Mortes. Breakfast was... More

On arriving at the modern, tastefully decorated Hotel Canal we received a very friendly welcome, a map of Aigues Mortes and suggestions of where to eat. We were shown to our air-conditioned room which was very comfortable. It had a balcony overlooking the canal and a refrigerator - very useful - plus the bathroom had a walk-in shower. The hotel... The back of the hotel is along a canal and it is a short walk to the old town center along this canal. Excellent location if you are driving, we arrived by bus and it was just a two block walk. Small but pleasant pool, good sized room, good breakfast. Very friendly and helpful.

Good small boutique hotel. Nothing wonderful but just what's needed for visiting and exploring Aigue Morte and the surrounding area. Really friendly staff, right from the moment you walk through the entrance door. Don't expect glam and luxury, in fact the rooms are quite basic and in some respects not that wonderful, but they are just a base to lay... More
