When in La Rochelle, I've stayed at the Hotel Saint Nicolas many times. Last year, I had a negative experience, which I shared here. I stayed at the hotel recently and found it back to the superb form I'd become accustomed to. Location is great: within walking distance of train station (there's parking for motorists) and most sights in La...

It is listed as a 3-star hotel, but compared to other similarly rated hotels in France, it is far superior. The area is very quiet, yet very close to the heart of the city, within walking distance of restaurants, museums, harbor views; there are many pedestrian streets all around. Our double room was large, with a queen-size bed, a full...

This is our second stay at this hotel. I did look at others but having spent an enjoyable 2 nights here last year we decided to return as we knew what to expect. The location is perfect for the old town and has the added advantage of private parking. The rooms, while not large, have all the facilities you need...

After a disastrous abd early-terminated boating holiday on the Charente we were guided by the Cognac Tourist Office at short notice to this little hotel in La Rochelle. It was a perfect find: not too expensive, clean and in the most convenient location right in the heart of town. The staff were so helpful and kind, helping us make revised...

This does what it says on the tin. Not many frills but functional and straightforward. Reasonable sized room, good parking and central for the bars and restaurants around the old port. More than adequate breakfast all at reasonable rates. No complaints and recommend for a short visit.

We stayed for two nights in October. Hotel is in a great location, took a little time to find, very welcoming at reception and car parking secure. Room a good size and bathroom fine. We had breakfast both mornings, which was typical but had hot scrambled eggs and bacon! The main selling point is the location, so close to all...

Recently stayed here with our dog. Great little hotel in great location for visiting La Rochelle. No tea making in room 😢 but we're able to get tray from reception. There's secure off road parking (extra charge) so this allowed us to explore the area without worrying about our stuff and our car. Reception staff were great and let me...

Spent four nights here with 14 other couples as part of a classic car tour. Clean comfortable accommodation in a great location for accessing harbour and old part of town. Cecile very helpful in organising our stay which included reserving secure parking for our old cars. Great service and very helpful staff. No restaurant but no shortage of places to...

Excellent location close to harbour, shops and all amenities, but peaceful. Room was comfortable, bathroom good and breakfast was fine and of great quality, if a little pricey. Staff at breakfast were very good, though reception staff could have been a little friendlier.
