If you arrive in Cannes by bus and you have luggage, consider taking a taxi because the hills are steep. But once you arrive, you will be captivated by welcoming hosts, a charming boutique hotel, and a warm and friendly atmosphere. Thank you for your kind hospitality and a lovely stay.

Hotel Albert 1er is a family-run small hotel with unique rooms that reflect the owners’ tastes. It is quiet and clean, and its location away from the coast is not as bad as a first glance at a map might suggest.

Although the address of this hotel is Avenue de Grasse, a rather busy street, in fact it is tucked away inside, facing a narrow alley leading from the Avenue, surrounded by residential houses. It is around 500 meters of downhill walk from the Port and the beach as well as the SNCF train station. This distance from the city center does have a plus in that parking a car at the hotel is not only easy but also free.

The hotel is quiet, and each room seems to have a theme. For instance, ours was an “African” room, with furnishing and decorations that match the theme. While the theme reached only half its potential, it still made for nice atmosphere. The bathroom was clean and had high-quality olive-based toiletries. The washbasin was a little too shallow so that water would often spill onto the floor, and the shower handle holder could not be tilted to make a rain shower and instead water would spray out directly at us. These were minor inconveniences, however, and we enjoyed quiet and comfortable stay.

The owner family, especially the lady, is an enthusiastic and powerful presence in the hotel. She would run out to facilitate guest parking, usher in incoming guests with beaming smile, and excitedly explain about the room and the city. They take pride in their property, and certainly they are doing a very good job. The rooms are nice enough, but the owners are the most memorable part of the hotel.

To summarize, Hotel Albert 1er is a well-run boutique hotel, whose off-center, uphill location is an acceptable cost for the clean, quiet rooms and hospitable, responsive owners. We do recommend this affordable and characterful lodging to any budget-minded traveler to Cannes.

Evelyne

A real soundproofing problem, another real problem is the age of the furniture, very old, a good renovation and a change of furniture could give a real 3 star hotel,
to my taste deserves 2 stars maximum, a real disappointment for a short stay that I really did not want to extend

We stayed at Albert 1er hotel for 2 nights. It is a small clean and cozy hotel with walking distance (15 min) to the touristic areas of tge town. The hotel supplies ( toileteries etc) were good as well as the room service.
On the negative side, I would say lack of reception during the major hours of tge day. We waited to have someone open the door for us once we arrived. Noone was tgere and door was locked. The other day we needed new towels but there was no receotion, actually noone in the hotel, between 1 pm to 5 pm.
Also the outer of tge hotel is so dark at night. You walk back at night and there is no single light or lamp outside of the hotel. This also applies to its parking.

The hotel is wonderfully located in a quiet private road within an easy walk of the Croisette. Evelyne is a totally exceptional host and nothing was too much trouble. Our room was superb and the weekend a total pleasure.

My mom, daughter and myself recently spent a week at Hotel Albert 1er and just loved it! Evelyn and Nasser are wonderful and generous people always making sure their guests feel at home. The French breakfast is delicious and is served on a nice terrace surrounded by lots of flowers. The rooms are spacious and clean. The hotel is situated in a nice neighbourhood only ten minutes walk from La Croisette. We would love to come back and will remember this as one of the most pleasant hotel experiences ever :o)

My husband and I chose this hotel based on a recommendation from friends + value. We stayed 4 nights and we couldnt be happier after such a lovely experience.

The hotel is run by Evelyne and her husband, who are the most friendly people ever. Always ready to help you and provide information. They make sure to call every guests by their names and even remember what kind of coffee you drink in the morning. We havent seen this kind of treatment anywhere.

There is also another employee who is in charge in the evening + early morning. He is also very efficient and always smiling.

ROOM
- Very clean (I mean VERY)
- Cute decoration
- Reasonable size, with safe, new TV, wardrobe, desk
- It has mini fridge and air conditioning
- Very confortable bed and pillows
- Ours had sea view
- Olive-based toiletries

LOCATION:
- 30 min drive from Nice airport
- City center is only 10 min walking
- Beach is 15 min walking distance
- Good choice to visit whole Cote d'azur area (drive to Monaco 1h, drive to Antibes 25min, drive to St. Tropez 2h)
- It is located up in a hill, which was not a problem for us. It meant we could keep fit after dinner!

GENERAL:
- 2 floors with no lift. They can help you with your luggage if necessary.
- Breakfast is served in a lovely garden, which is a perfect way to start the day. They give you a large tray with good selection of breads, croissant, pain au chocolat, yougurt, butter, honey, jam, juice, coffee, milk. Breads were recently baked.
- Parking available
- Quiet area
- Some rooms have sea view
- Good price

So, dont think twice before booking this hotel! It is excellent!!!

PS: Owners love chocolate - be sure you bring them some :)

I was on a business trip, and found myself with a day spare. After a quick search for a last minute hotel, I picked this. My choice was partly price, and partly location based. I was driving a box van, and despite the advantage of on site parking, I found a space within a 5 minute walk on the nearby streets, so as not to block the parking for all other clients.
The welcome was warm, and inviting. The room clean, and surprisingly spacious.
Breakfast in the courtyard was delightful, and the coffee divine!
The hosts could not have been more welcoming, or friendly.. I echo one of the other advisers reviews, and say that the larger chains could learn a thing or two about this level of customer sevice.
Advise about local restaurants, bars and sights was freely and accuratly offered..
Would definately return, should I be lucky enough to find myself at a loose end in Cannes again.
Thank you.

Nice little Arte Noveau- hotel in the heart of Cannes. We stayed there for 2 nights in october. Clean and comfortable rooms with a personal "touch". Beds a bit hard, but it seems this is normal for french hotels. Hosts were very welcoming, helpful and speaks good english. Made us feel like we were close friends. Everything within walking distance, but much uphill, so it helps to be a little fit. Free, but limited parking on the premises and free wifi. We thought traffic noise would be a problem, as the hotel is close to a main road, but it was surprisingly quiet. Lovely little terrace for outdoor breakfast. Installing a showercurtain may be a good idea. We would gladly return to this place
