We stayed here because we wanted a place with a kitchen. Food in Europe is different than the US and service is slow typically. Also it tends to be expensive to eat at European hotels. Who spends $40 on cereal & milk? And $50 for a sandwich at lunch? You will pay this if you stay a one of the large hotels. We rather spend our money on dinner & have a bottle of wine. My experience with Europe is even when you pay $400 a night, the service stinks.

The hotel location is not in the center of the Cannes action but about a 10 minute walk. I believe it was built in the 1980's and they have kept it up well. Great parking garage for $40 euros a week. Some of the large hotel charge this a day. Parking is mad in Cannes. The hotel is along the beach. No hotels are "on" the beach. Some have a beach area roped off with their hotel name up. All hotels in Cannes require you to cross over to the beach so it's not worth the money to pay more when it's all the same.
We paid about $600 euros a week and booked on the Pierre & Vacances website. Hotels run about $300 euros a night here. All documents will be sent to you in French, even if you request English. The hotel will mail you a map to drive there from the airport. We were surprised that we had to rent towels for the week and then they don't let you turn them in for clean ones. The toilet ran water and they wouldn't fix it. But the view of the beach was good. And we had our own balcony with a table and chairs. Great to eat out their. Kitchen well stocked. Small refrigerator but you are only there a week. There are some train tracks along the hotels but the trains are fast and not as noisey as trains in the US. The tracks look ugly. For the money we were happy. We got essentially an apartment for the week. I saw some American tours come in with students. They are used to Americans here. The pools are awesome and one has a slide. I didn't see a comparable pool at any of the other hotels.

The beach is a sand beach here and the women are typically topless. The beaches in Nice are rock. We went to a lot of daytrips and this local was perfect. We drove to St. Tropez, Gordon (old city on a mountain), Mougin (great food, breading ground for chefs & reasonable - reco Peite Follet), Grasse (look for 10% off coupons for the perfumery), Les Arcs (wine country), & Nice. We spent our last weekend in Monte Carlo and paid a little more to stay at the Marriott in Cap D'ail. They had AAA rates for $150 euros. Good price for the location and they offer free taxi to the casinos, etc. The service was much better there. They will make reservations for you dinner, etc. Good way to balance a trip and not go broke. If you goto Monte Carlo stop in Eze. It's a view that is breathtaking. I've skiied the Alps and Utah...this felt higher up. Great midevil fortress/castle also.

Pierre can loan you a hair dryer but they have a limited supply. I recommend getting groceries at the local Intermarche near the highway. Prices were great there & we got beach towel for $5.

Don't leave Cannes without having the "fruit la mer" - shrimp, oyster, crab, etc. Go to the resturants near the la Croissette Casino/Jimmy Z's night club. They are across the road...you'll see people eating these. About $70 for seafood for two people but worth it. So good and fresh.

I would stay here again if I was going to Cannes for a week. If going for a weekend, I would maybe splurge and go to the Carlton.

We stayed almost 2 weeks at the Pierre & Vacances Verrerie and had a room with a wonderful view looking west to the centre of Cannes and overlooking the pool. We had a hard time at first getting into the place at night (due to a plane delay) and were unable to make a phone call because the booths need a phone card. (Hint: If you are American, buy a french phone card asap at a tobacco shop). Luckily, some dutch tourists used their cell phone to contact security. The reception also did not tell us that each room is equipped with its own fuse box. You must turn it on when you arrive. The airconditioning did not work and when I inquired the next day about it, they told me it was not working. However, when we checked out I noticed a sign saying that for 60 euro extra you could connect your a/c. We didn't need it the first week, but could have used it the second week. The room is well equipped and it is easy to change towels and sheets when needed and get a new cleaning kit. The cleaning kit comes with cleaner, a sponge and enough dishwasher tablets for one week. We were able to stay very comfortably in our unit (2 adults, 3 children). This apartment is ideal for families since we were able to let our kids have some down time either at the pool or within a short walk to the beach. The staff is courteous and helpful, but didn't know how to guide us to an English speaking phone operator. If you are an American reading this review, here's a hint: for 1800 numbers dial 001880 and the number, if you need the U.S. dial 001 and then the area code and for an English speaking operator 3212. Apparently, France does not have an international operator. Cannes La Bocca offers stores which provide the necessities for your stay. You can buy food provisions within a few steps or drive out a bit to the supermarkets which are cheaper. Keep in mind that stores close down for a two hour lunch. Buy your provisions early in the morning or before 8 at night. Our balcony was a great resting spot at the end of the day while we ate our meal and we had a spectacular view of the Med. The French Riviera was a very educational experience with great museums and places to visit at a reasonable cost. (Art galleries didn't charge for our children and all places provide reduced rates for children and free for our 5 year old). I would recommend to others the Pierre & Vacances and without second thought stay again.

Giving an overall review of this hotel was tricky. Some parts of the hotel were good, some bad.
I stayed at the hotel during MIPIM-week so as almost everything is the area was booked (and extremely expensive) so there's not that much to choose from. I'll explain my pros and cons so you can decide what's relevant for you.

To reach the apartment I had to walk through long dark external corridors. Coming home alone late at night walking through long dark external corridors I didn't feel safe. I never saw anything suspicious but walking alone in long dark external corridors very far from the reception I felt very cautious....something I'm not used to. During daylight the corridors felt boring and some of them looked dirty and mouldy, not a nice look. (See photos)

The apartment was very nice with pretty decor and a nice view of the sea and pool area. It was well planned with a bedroom facing the (back) quieter part of the hotel. The kitchen was well equipped with plenty of utensils, plates, cups and glasses. The only thing I missed was a hair dryer in the bathroom. I tried to borrow one from the reception but they couldn't find it.

We were very surprised to realise that when it rained outdoors it even started to rain indoors! The were buckets in the reception area to collect the water that was coming from the ceiling. (See photos) seeing water come through electric sockets felt very worrying.

All in all, some pros and some cons. I would probably try to get another hotel if I ever return though as I need to feel confident walking to my room even late at night.

Unfortunately I booked this apartment not realising it didn't have any AC (my fault), however after kindly asking to cancel the booking and get refunded within 24hrs of making my booking I was told that it wasn't possible. Having explained the reason why i.e it was unusually warm at that time of year and I had a 2year old child who would need AC. I was told that no refund was possible. I accepted this, However after making the booking I was then asked if I wanted bedding for a further €40, after cancelling the booking I was told that I wasn't eligible for a refund on sheets and towels that I hadn't even used. Long story short these people who manage this property have the WORST customer service, are rude and I advise anyone thinking of staying here to go elsewhere. Disgusting behaviour. AND looking at the other reviews there are many many others who feel the same. STAY AWAY

I cannot understand how a residence like this can exists in modern France and near Cannes.
The quality and the service is miserable. The internal parking is difficult. The residence outside area is not good. The pool horrible. The apartments are worse than you can imagine. I suggest their management to spend some days with their families in these apartments they offer to the clients. Maybe they will be more conscious of the the bad situation this residence is left. But I don't think they will improve.

Avoid this place, ITS OLD!!! no customer service, no soap, no dishwashing cloth, no salt, no napkins  there is absolutely nothing for living ( except some toilet paper ) . First thing guest needs to do is to go to the store .  no  umbrella on the terrasse  which makes terrasee unusable during the day because of the sun .  This palce does not offer refund because refund is the first thing you think about when you enter the room ( or even getting to your room for the first time ). Its just horrible. It seems as though the owner decided to squeeze as much as possible from this "property" without investing a dime and then kill it ( 4th day here and I havent seen even 1 person who works here .
Stahy away.,

Had a great time, the complex itself is fine, we were lucky and had a recently refurbished room with brand new kitchen air-con and furniture.
Don't expect to be in the centre of Cannes, it's about a 25 minute walk to the port, so doable if you're up to it and you can stop off at the very Cabins on the way for a drink or snack.
The pools are great and the beach is literally across the road!
Parking is a little tricky, but we managed to get one right outside on the street as ours didn't include a space in the underground car park, but there are spaces by the beach and there is a car park just around the corner.
Superb bakery just a short walk away and the usual superb mini markets with everything you'll need.

very shabby dirty interior. Absense of aircondition system demans to keep balcon doors open, but it is impossible to sleep due to very close rail road. So every 30 minutes you will be awakened with very noisy train. Kitchen equipped with old over-used devices. All furniture obviously was purchased from sheapest second-hand store- dirty and covered with suspiciour spots. Personnel is busy with own deals and pay attention to you only if they finished conversation with own colleagues. We were shocked. Don't be crazy - never select this hotel.
