This was our second visit to Hotel Napoleon and I have to say it gets better all the time. The staff ( very important part for me) were so friendly, efficient and helpful. The rooms were clean and well decorated and appointed. The hotel is situated out of the main town but an

We treated ourselves to a whole week's stay at the Napoleon to celebrate a birthday and wedding anniversary. Again we had a room overlooking the sea and promenade, with a balcony which we used on a daily basis, even on the one day when we had some rain. A lot of traffic passes

My husband and I spent 9 nights here. Once booked, I requested a high floor for the sea view and we had a lovely room on 5th floor with a large balcony with table, chairs and deckchairs. Everywhere is freshly decorated and the fridge is stocked with complimentary soft drinks

We had a family road trip on French Riviera in 2018 and stayed 4 nights in hotel Napoleon. Before booking I did a bit of research and this hotel (in theory) was one among the best ones in Menton – 4 stars, nice location, nice photos on the website etc. Reality was slightly

Response from matlik, Propriétaire at Hotel Napoleon
Responded 28 Aug 2018
Dear Mr. K, I do not systematically respond to reviews, but felt that I need to in this case... I must certainly apologise to you for our overlooking your request for a parking space: it wasn't sent our reservation system from the 3rd party web site through which you booked, and we failed to check their extranet for additional requests. That is however as far as I feel that your negative comments remain reasonable. Whatever other issues that you had when you stayed with us a month and a half before writing this rather inflammatory review, you did not mention them to us at the time, which is a pity, as we would have been glad to try and resolve them directly. As for some of the details that inaccurately reflect us... You are one of the rare people as far as I can tell that has a problem with our mattresses. We have more customers asking where they can buy one than we have complaints (they are from the Simmons hotel range by the way, if anybody wishes to know). Whilst we do only have 9 spaces in the hotel car park, parking around the hotel is both free and safe. No customer has EVER had any issues with personal safety or vandalism in what you term the "spooky" parking 100 yards from the hotel. The rooms and their furniture on the Garden side of the hotel were fully renovated in 2015... I am sorry if that counts as "a bit old" from your point of view, which again seems divergent with that of the vast majority of our other guests. You are correct in saying that they are quieter than the rooms at the front that have the road below. Indeed we replaced all the internal walls during that renovation to make sure that they were well soundproofed. Unless you had some particularly noisy and indelicate neighbours at the time, I am somewhat at a loss to explain your comment. Regarding the room size, it is published as 24 square meters on the site that you booked on, which is exactly what it is! Regarding our photos: whilst the photos provided by the hotel are of course done by a professional with proper lighting, they are not are "heavily photoshopped", and they give in my a opinion a fair and true reflection of reality, There are plenty of photos on this site that are taken by real customers: I suggest to any reader of this to have a look and judge for themselves. Given your overall comments, I wanted to see what your expectations would be for a good hotel that would gain your praise. Unfortunately, since you have apparently created an account on this site just to publish this one review (at the time I am writing this), I an unable to see what standards we are trying to meet. I can therefore only wish you all the best, and hope that in the future places where you stay will meet more with your approval than our humble establishment.

We stayed at the hotel for 5 nights and unfortunately have to let people know it was not worth its price. There are mosquitos inside the hotel, hallways, and rooms. The front desk ladies weren't the most helpful or even nice. The air condition in the room sounds like a

Hello! The hotel is 600m from "Menton Garavan" station. Make sure that your train stops there, as some only stop at "Menton Ville". There is a bus stop 50m from the hotel. Bus n° 18 stops there (which follows the coast to Monaco) as well as bus n° 100, which goes to Menton's main bus terminal (where you can take the n° 100 Express to Nice Airport, amongst others).
