Me and 2 friends booked a room each here last week for 3 nights. Excellent location, steps away from the stoney beach(if you continue up the promenade, they have recently added in sand to one particular section!) and steps away from the Old Town which is beautiful. The only fault is that there isnt always a receptionist there, sometimes you had to ring him instead from the reception phone but our door problem was handled over the phone so it wasnt a big deal. The lighting in the hallways of the bedrooms could also be better but overall, highly recommend and would definitely stay again.

Excellent location 1 block of the beach and Promenade des anglais, 1/2 a block from restaurants, shopping, nite life! Despite that, quiet, clean little hotel tucked away in a corner.
Very basic accommodations, but comfortable, clean. Our family suite even had a separate but connected bedroom and second bathroom that was excellent for our daughter. We stayed for 3 nights.
Very reasonable cost, although we went off season March.
We would definitely stay here again!

After much research and early planning, I booked Hotel Massenet for three nights in June 2016. Yesterday, I got an email telling me the hotel is closed for good and they have transferred my reservation to their sister hotel, Hotel Régence. I'm so disappointed as the location and reviews aren't nearly as good. Anyone know what happened?

Great location and useful communal kitchen, but no room service, rarely any receptionist and no-one cleans the room or makes the beds. And it's not cheap. Overall, it's OK but not value for money. Don't come here if you want a normal hotel service.

My husband and I stayed here a couple of weeks ago during Carnivale and simply loved it for it's clean, comfortable rooms and especially it's fantastic location. Close to restaurants and a stones throw from the beach, it's the ideal location on a really quiet street. Our room was at the back of the hotel so there was no view but the sun flooded in each morning. There was no bar which we missed on the first night but there were bars and restaurants at the end of the road (1 minutes walk away). And yes, they speak great English. Even though I speak French, everyone responded in English which was great.

The 6 of us stayed at the hotel massenet for 3 days at the end of august 2005. I spent weeks and weeks on the internet (on all the holiday review forums, checking maps, tourist books/guides...you name it) to find the right place to stay. I went for the massenet based on the following:

1 Location
2 Value for money
3 standard of room/facilities

Suffice it to say that it was definitely the right choice as noy only did it tick all the boxes, the friendly service from all of the hotel staff made it an exceptional stay.

The location is great - read the other reviews for more info.

I echo all that has been said (the bathrooms are all brand new and the room facilities are very good) but would like to add a few 'extras' to what people have said already.

There is a bar about 50 yards away called 'love'. Go out of the hotel, turn left, walk 20 yards. This is an open air bar/restaraunt that is ideal for the location of the hotel on one of the main shopping/restaraunt laden streets in the whole of Nice. They serve great food/drinks and the staff are excellent. We sat one afternoon drinking rose wine and watching the bustle of the people shopping - got carried away slightly after going for one quick drink and 6 bottles later we needed a small siesta before going out for a meal.

The taxis are extremely expensive - dont leave tips as they are all overpriced to start with...learn the words for 'can i have the change please' as if the fee is say 17 euros (and that could be just to get to the train station - which is in the middle of nowhere so i would not recommend walking there...from any hotel!) and you give them a 20 euro note..they will just say "merci" and start to get back in the car!!!! happened many times (especially to the girls in our party..so be careful..and firm with them!)

We went for a drink in the negresco..very nice..a drink in the hi hotel...quirky but nice (drinking in the outdoor drinks area that is in the middle of the hotel!) but didnt get to the beau rivage (which i will do next time as it looked fab).

The bus tour around the city is good but overpriced slightly and after going round once you wont go round again ..so think about this before you go out on the trip.

Trains are excellent and very cheap...monte carlo was very overrated and a big let down to us all if i am beinf honest. Nice is 10 times better.

stay at the massent...you wont regret it.

bon voyage

Like most of the other reviews which have been great, that was our main reason for booking, and we were not disappointed. The location just off Promenade des Anglais meant everything was close to hand. We preferred to eat in the Old town at night, found the restaurants there were more varied. But only took 5-10 minutes to walk.
Our last night we ate at a superb place, seemed petty new. Called L'Atelier, on the Rue Barillerie, behind Cours Saleya. I had the 20 euro 3 course menu and it was delicious. Will certainly recommend both hotel and restaurantto friends.

We stayed at this hotel in the room Type Classic for a few days and really liked it. It was a pleasant room made in warm colours with a little hall, clean bathroom, small additional room with a sink and fridge. It also had a safe, TV, balcony and individual air-conditioning. The hotel was right in the centre of Nice, about 100 metres to the beach and close to the street Rue de France with lots of cafes and restaurants. Very quiet but at the same time very central location. Little and cosy hotel.
There were two little crackes on the ceiling but we didn't really care as the room on the whole was very good for the money that it cost. One disadvantage: they don't change towels every day and if you want to have them changed you have to go with your used towels to the reception and ask them to change. They said it was care for the environment not to use too much washing powder. There was no hairdryer in the bathroom but they have them at the reception to hire for free. As well as the iron and ironing board. On the whole a very good hotel, excellent value for money.

This hotel recently changed name from Massenet hotel to Club inn. Previous reviews here: https://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g187234-d277279-Reviews-Massenet_Hotel-Nice_French_Riviera_Cote_d_Azur_Provence.html

The hotel is located right off Promenade des Anglais in Nice. If you take bus 98 from the airport (€6, 20 minutes), get off at Promande Congrés and you are 200 metres from the hotel.

It's a nice, clean and cozy hotel, with modern bathroom facilities. No shower curtain :-) A small fridge in the room.

The staff seem to be switching between two hotels, so during the day you might not meet anyone. You can get hold of them by phone.

The hotel's is in the middle of everything with bars, restaurants, casinos and the beach, and only a short walk from the old town. They have parking facilities in the basement. Some rooms have terrasse, my room (107) had a French balcony.

They only serve breakfast if there's at least 10 people asking for it. It was no breakfast during my stay. You can use their kitchen and make breakfast for yourself though.

Unfortunately, I got ill at the end of my stay, and spent the last day and a half in bed. My flight was at 9 pm, and the hotel let me keep the room till 5 pm. That was highly appreciated.

Having stayed in Nice last year in a four star hotel that was a bit disappointing, thought I would downgrade to 3 star this year - if it's going to be naff I might aswell pay less! However, this hotel has really changed my mind.

The hotel is on a side street that runs off the Promenade de Anglais and on to Rue de Paris. Really couldn't believe the fab location! Extremely quiet on a night. The staff were unbelievably polite and helpful. Room wasn't huge - although others looked bigger, but the bathroom was brand new and sparkled! Breakfast was continental, croissant, pan au chocolate and fresh breadbun. But hey, with top staff, excellent location and really clean room - I certainly wasn't moaning! Will def go back to this hotel.
