The room (contemporary deluxe twin) was comfortable and clean. The bathroom was huge, with a separate shower and bath with bubble jets that was so good we didn't need to use the spa whirlpool bath. Our room had a balcony overlooking the central courtyard and a mini fridge which was useful. The location is an easy 10 minute walk to the Promenade des Anglaise, and easy 20 minute walk to the main restaurant area and old town, but is in a nice quite area without traffic or tram noise. The staff were helpful and polite. If you do want to use the spa I would suggest booking on arrival, as we left it too late and they were fully booked. The rooftop terrace is open until midnight and the pool and hot tub are open late too (I believe this may be seasonal so do check if travelling in cooler months).

The room we were first provided with, which was very nice, had a faulty bathroom water supply; as a result, after a very long delay while the engineer (plumber) tried to fix, then replace, the bath/shower mixer and restore water supply, we were moved to a larger room.

Unfortunately that room was not suitable at all and had many faults. It took a few hours to get this sorted out which cut into our holiday. We were not moved again that night.

The evening staff werent very effective in getting us sorted out (between 5.30 pm and 7.30pm) saying nothing else was available. They did not offer us any immediate compensation.

First thing next morning we were upgraded to a lovely room where everything worked.

Breakfast was good. The rooftop pool area was very busy and in the late afternoon and in the morning people were setting themselves up for a long session. Fortunately we weren't there for the pool but to enjoy the City. It takes about 20 minutes to get to the main square or to the promenade and many restaurants.

On checking out we were offered a financial compensation by friendly reception staff which went a long way to make up for the first night's disruption.

Overall, a pleasant stay. I would recommend this hotel as its unlikely you have the problems we had.

Firstly, we must say that we had to move this booking twice due to Covid and both times the hotel were quick and kind to accommodate this.

Upon arrival, the checkin was fast and the room was ready. Everything was clean and the room had enough space for everything.

Breakfast staff were lovely and very efficient. There was always plenty of choice and the staff kept on top of everything.

The maids came every day with clean towels, replenishing the supplies and making up the beds. The room always felt clean.

The pool facilties were fantastic. We used them twice during the week. There aren't many loungers but we were there early enough to secure two both days. Pool is delightful for a refreshing dip and jacuzzi has fab views of the city. Always clean and tidy and the evening staff made great cocktails in the rooftop bar.

In terms of location, the hotel is 5 minutes walk from the beach front, the train station and the local tram stop. There is also a supermarket about 2mins walk from hotel for drinks and snacks.

We have nothing to criticise about this hotel. Everything was excellent from start to finish. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting a central stay in Nice. Thank you, Splendid Hotel.

We stayed at the hotel for 5 nights. When we arrived we were given the wrong room ( 1 doublebed and 1 sofabed ) despite our booking was specifically on 2 doublebeds. Further our catagory of room was not correct. It took us 3 hours and a lot of discussion to get the right room catagory. We did not get 2 doublebeds as the hotel could not provide this even though it was possible to book it. I had to contact hotels.com to get at refund.
Pool area is very small with only 10 sunbeds. We never got a sunbed and was forced to use the beach. We chose the hotel because of the pool but never used it as is was constantly packed with people.
Aircondition in 1 room was not working and it was informed to the reception. It was never fixed despite we had 5 nights at the hotel.
It is possible to park below the hotel. Price is 24 € / night. Be aware the parking basement is VERY small and narrow. Further you have to calculate minimum 30 min everytime you have to collect your car as there is way to many cars in the basement and there will be cars in front of your car so you cannot get your car out before other cars are removed.
Generally the hotel is very old and worn out. It smells in the hallways and carpets, walls are with holes etc.
We were very disappointed over our stay and will not return again. Especially our problem with the aircondition which were not fixed ( in summertime it is impossible to sleep without a aircondition ) and the very small swimmingpool with only 10 sunbeds were very disapointing. Finally not getting the room we booked when we checked was extremely poor service. We will not return and will bot recommend anyone to use the hotel.

Echoing other reviews, including the recent ‘Presidential suite!!’ review do not spend your money here.
We booked this hotel for the last night of our holiday, I booked direct with the hotel as we have specific requirements; 2 young teens who are step siblings and need separate space and privacy. I had confirmation of the presidential suite with 2 single beds in the second room. At check in we had to wait until 16:20 for our room which when we opened it was a family room with a double bed and sofa bed all crammed into one space. Air conditioning was poor and room desperately needed a refurb.
As soon as I went back to reception I was met with ‘is your room not what you were expecting’ ie they knew full well i had not been given what I had booked some months ago. Excuses started such as ‘it’s high season/ we are full etc’ the reality is all hotels manage this and you don’t miss-sell a room, you work a booking system to remove allocated rooms, which this hotel clearly cannot manage. Reception could do nothing and were completely not bothered or interested.
So last night was spoilt, children hardly slept, sofa bed was much too small, room incredibly hot with 4 people in it. In the morning I was offered a 50E refund which goes no way for making up for incredibly poor customer service.
There are so many hotels to choose in Nice do not stay here.

This hotel is a total dump and the staff is not helpful. This hotel clearly does no upkeep and just crams guests into room. The location is good and the lobby is nice but that’s all it has going for it. The carpets in the halls and rooms are stained, the paint is peeling from the doors, the rooms smell bad, and our bathtub was separated from the tile.
The staff I interacted with was completely unhelpful. The hotel parking garage was full so I parked on the street a few feet from the hotel entrance. I asked the woman at check-in what the rules for street parking were and she said she didn’t know. Thanks a lot. If this actually was a 4 star hotel, the front desk clerk would basic facts like street parking.
The rooftop had a nice view. The pool is about 5 meters in length and cold so nothing to get excited about.
After our night at the Splendid, we stayed at a Marriott property in another city. The difference in the helpfulness and hospitality of the staff and the upkeep of the property was tremendous.
Do yourself a favor and don’t waste your money at this dump.

This hotel met with our satisfaction for the following: location-wise it is within walking distance of the train station and the main centre of town. It has a breakfast room on the top floor with outdoors seating, which when the weather is nice is relaxing. There is a pool and jacuzzi there too. Breakfast was ample, but the breakfast room layout can get a bit clogged when there is a group booking all breakfasting at the same time. Waiting staff are pleasant. Cleanliness is faultless. You can also take lunch at this rooftop spot with a simple but satisfactory menu. Our room was a decent size and clean. We also had a balcony, and with our room at the rear of the hotel this was a quiet spot. This feature actually made the trip as it is not a comfortable stay in a hotel as a smoker unless you have the convenience of being able to step outside from your room. This coupled with the in-room kettle gave us what we needed for comfort. Our only observations that detract from a positive review: Pillows and bed coverings were a bit too light and synthetic for a good night's sleep. Reception staff were professional but in a restrained way - there seemed to a sense of indifference or froideur that could do with a little bit more Mediterranean warmth. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel and would gladly stay again.

Stayed here with my wife for a romantic weekend away in August.

We picked it based on location - slightly back off the main promenade so less touristy and also we really wanted the use of an outdoor pool.

The check in was a poor experience. Everyone was waiting beyond 4pm and we were made wait an extra 30 mins or more because I ordered the romantic welcome but in advance. It should have been ready. There was a very unpleasant conversation happening between one customer and the reception as we waited.

Beyond that the room is lovely, the balcony was lovely to have and we enjoyed the stay. The air con wasn’t great, we needed to request the reception to check it. The automatic shutters in the room are great. Also, we didn’t use it but you can watch Netflix in the room.

The breakfast upon the roof every morning was nice and the pool is great. There is a jacuzzi also. It’s just so nice to sit there after sight seeing and relax with a drink.

Really enjoyed the stay, would recommend it.

The good points. The location is great short walk from tram station. Near to old town. 20 mins walk to main train station.
The not so good points. Room was nothing like the pictures on website. Reception area very impressive but big let down when arrive at your room. Room very small and dated. Air con was not worth switching on had no effect on room temperature. Breakfast area to small for the amount of rooms. On our last day no hot water in entire hotel until 11.10am resulting in missed breakfast and stuck in room. Realise problems can occur but should have been informed not having to ring reception every hour. No apology on checking out. Think will look elsewhere on future visits.

The price-performance ratio was not right at all. The hotel is getting on in years, the rooms were not particularly clean, the shower mouldy. The ceiling height in the room is a maximum of 2 metres. And all this even though we had a premium room.
Pay attention to your bills - the reception tried to charge more from the beginning (garage, a third breakfast although only 2 nights there, etc).
We do not recommend staying at this hotel for the high prices.
