My wife and i stayed at Hotel Monsigny for 2 nights during a recent visit to the Cote d'azur. We chose the hotel due to its good value being so central in Nice with a 5 to 10 min walk to the train station and about 15 to the old town and coast. The tram stops only a couple of hundred metres away also. The hotel's reception is reached through the restaurant along the front and the very friendly staff were always on hand to assist. We received a voucher on arrival for a free cocktail at the lobby bar which was nice along with all details we required for our short stay. I requested a quiet room on booking and we were given a room on the first floor away from the lift/stairs and with a side aspect so we could not hear any outside noise with the window shut. Our room i believe was a disabled access room as there was a sliding door to the huge wet room with a fairly tall toilet with hand bars. Yes you have to be careful with the bathroom floor when there has been a shower but we used the spare towel to dry the floor once showered. The room was fine for our stay with a single wardrobe and free safe and the air conditioning was very good. The room was very clean and the bed comfortable. We also had a small private terrace/patio which was nice to sit out on for a little while. The only slight down point for the room was that there are no UK TV channels, but wi fi was good and free. We had breakfast at the hotel mainly for convenience and at 14 euros per head wasn't too badly priced. It was a buffet with small pastries hot drink machines and plentiful fruit juices. The usual fruits, yogurt and cold meats along with scrambled eggs, crispy (American style) bacon and small sausages. Finally, the hotel has a roof top cocktail bar with bar menu and hot tub which is open to non residents. It is very popular and the views ,ambiance and music was very nice. We were lucky to grab a table for an hour but i would always book to be sure. The cocktails we had were very nice if a little pricy at 12-14 Euros, not too bad really i suppose due to where we were on a beautiful warm sunny evening in Nice! The only negative to the roof bar is that there is only 1 lift to service the whole hotel including the bar and its very small and old, not good when you are a bit scared of small spaces. Would recommend a stay here for its location, boutique feel but maybe not for longer than a few days due to size of the room and lack of hotel bar aimed more to residents

I was very pleasantly surprised by this perfectly run cozy three star city hotel. Knowing my way around Nice, it’s in a great location close to the train station or tram 1 to start exploring. Nearby are markets or gare du Sud with lots of food options. As a solo person I got a great price for staying longer than planned in my beautiful and quiet corner room on the fourth floor with two large, balcony style windows with a sunrise view. There was enough space for everything. I only could have used a second plug somewhere near the bed but would just bring my multi-adapter next time. Loved that the shower was powerful enough which is not often the case in the region. The rooftop (7th floor) is very nice, too with a stunning panoramic view and the poké bowl I had was delicious. Staff is multi-lingual, very friendly, helpful and present (24/7). Breakfast included everything you expect from the category plus an egg station. Cleaning staff supplied everything in abundance which I always appreciate. This hotel definitely made my stay a lot more enjoyable. Definitely will come again and will recommend to friends!

Reception staff were not very friendly, nor helpful. At no point did they offer any advice and the one time we did ask for advice about trains (there were national SNCF train strikes during our time in Nice), they asked us to look online ourselves...
The room was compact, with no fridge nor any tea / coffee making facilities (so bring your own like we did). We opted for a double room (it's a UK double sized bed) and 2 adults can just about get around the room. Fortunately there is a decent space under the desk in the corner where we put our suitcases.
Be warned, the bathroom space is tight, although once inside, the shower cubicle was quite spacious. The entrance into the bathroom and entrance to the shower cubicle is extremely narrow and cramped. There was just one small soap and a wall mounted tube of shampoo in the shower cubicle.

The room itself was clean and housekeeping were efficient.
There were some areas of the bathroom which could have done with some bleach (it was yellowy).

We had a room down the side of the hotel building and although the trams run very frequently, the noise was not intrusive.
Although other guests in the hallway could be heard very clearly, we did not hear any noise coming from any rooms around us.

There was a good sized safe in the room.
There were no English TV channels.

However, the location is great, very close to tram stops (in both directions) and lots of eateries, street market, Carrefour express supermarket.
Nice-Ville train station is only a 6 minute walk away.

The top floor bar wasn't open when we visited at the end of March.
We stayed room only and did not eat at the hotel's restaurant, so cannot comment on the food there.

Highly recommend Zambetti Eric bakery just down the road. The staff are super friendly and the bread, pastries, quiche and baguette sandwiches are all super tasty and fresh.

As part of a British Airways Holiday booking we selected the double bed room where they basically push two standard size beds together. Advertised an awesome Rooftop bar, hot tub etc. Well, it closes Sept 30th and that was not disclosed. Opted to seek our own breakfast and not have it included. Good thing, they want almost 15 euro if you want the breakfast buffet and it is definitely not worth it. Duvet was coming apart on our bed, was replaced after a few days. Room is about as tiny as you can get. Zero artwork in room. Amenities consisted of one bottle of shampoo/body wash and a small round piece of soap. Only two hand/shower towels per day. Balcony barely fits someone that is fit. Bar and restaurant are closed on Monday and Tuesday. Bar opens at 7pm W-Sat. We pretty much ended up going elsewhere for dining and drinks. The staff did a great job however. Staying in our room felt like we were in a medium security prison.

The location of the hotel is very accessible because of the tram which runs from nearby into the old town every few minutes. The room was small but comfortable and had a lovely hot shower. There was a varied breakfast with cooked food available. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food and drink in the restaurant was good and reasonably priced. The duck and the black cod were delicious.

The hotel is in a good location - a 7 minute walk to place massena or a few tram stops. It’s right near a tram stop
Reception staff were extremely helpful and always available - thank you
The hotel restaurant was well run and good selection of food. Very tasty and very good staff
The rooftop is a nice feature although not clear about the jacuzzi
The room cleaning was not the best. One day they didn’t come and the next day we got back at 4 having been out since 8.30 still with the green sign asking them to clean! We rang to ask and they just wanted to change towels!!!

Overall a pleasant stay with great staff

So!

I am writing this the day after our return from stunning Nice!

I always read the reviews on trip advisor when booking my holidays and sometimes I wish I hadn't so I try to write a really honest review when I get home.

Hotel Monsigny is situated 10 minutes up the road from the Place Messena, you couldn't ask for a better location if you don't want to be entirely in the heart of things. Fantastic location. Beach 10 minutes, Courts Salya etc etc. 5 minutes from main train station although the trains are very crowded so be aware of this.
The staff couldn't do enough for you and were extremely polite. Breakfast was continental/English breakfast buffet style-everything fresh and tasty. Couldn't fault it.

The rooms were very basic but clean. Rooms are also very small lacking those small little touches that make life easier-no fridge, no tea/coffee facilities (traumatised for my morning brew 😂), no where to hang towels, limited space in the bathroom for putting products, small wardrobe, no mirror to sit at dressing table.

Having said this we managed and for financial reasons I wouldn't hesitate to stay at this hotel again purely for the location.

Nice is amazing for visiting Eze and Monaco and we also enjoyed a short walking tour of Nice where you will spot lots of lovely eateries etc! Book any you fancy as they get busy!

All in all you get what you pay for! 😍

Typically deals like the one I got are too good to be true, but I thought I would try it out based on the other reviews. The staff was incredibly welcoming and friendly from the moment I arrived until I checked out. All of the employees I interacted with spoke English - it was so easy to communicate, too. I also loved the design of the hotel (the contrast between the aged exterior and extremely contemporary interior). The room I had also matched the contemporary design and it was very clean upon my check in. I loved the rooftop bar, both the drinks and the views were impressive. Although the hotel isn't on the waterfront, it almost seems like you are when you're on the rooftop. It was also just a 20ish minute walk to the beach. I wish there were more hotels like this - staff that obviously take pride in their jobs, a hotel with amazing amenities, rooms that are designed and kept-up so well, a central location and an amazing price!

We stayed for a couple of nights at the end of March for a birthday get away as we love Nice and have visited several times but this was our first stay at the Monsigny. The room was clean and tidy and the bed was comfortable, however we were very disappointed with breakfast which was very much lacking aside from the amazing orange juicing machine. I am coeliac and reception had confirmed that g/f bread would be available for me each morning, but sadly this was not the case on the first day, even though we asked several members of staff so had to make do with fruit salad that morning. My husband was also disappointed by the lukewarm scrambled egg and teeth breaking crispy rolls but sadly no other bread available. It did rather feel that the hotel focussed 99% on the restaurant as they devoted all their attention to preparing the tables each day, and the hotel was very much secondary to this which was such a pity. A greater selection of choice at breakfast would have been greatly appreciated and for the hot food to be kept hot as we went down early enough but the selection was very much lacking. The layout of the breakfast room was also slightly strange as the housekeeping staff push their hoovers and trolleys filled with bed linen through the middle of this area, which really felt odd and would suggest that another route is used, particularly during the breakfast period. There was only one electric point in our room, which unfortunately was very wobbly and barely charged my phone. A mini fridge would also have been appreciated to store water and food, particularly with a g/f diet. On a positive note the hotel is very well situated in the city, surrounded by restaurants, and amongst the amazing fruit and vegetable stalls, with close access to the trams, which are easy to buy tickets for and hop on and off around the city and easy access to the airport.
