This was a really lovely place to stay although there were two major drawbacks. Firstly we were in Nice in August - tres hot - and there was no air conditioning, which felt unbearable at first but we got used to it. Secondly, you have to go up one of the biggest, longest hills to get here. However, both of those things were worth it for the friendly welcome we received and the beautiful italianate house. Our room was big, confortable and clean with it's own bathroom, fridge and TV. The buffet breakfasts were very nice (fresh croissants etc.)and you could sit outside on the gorgeous terrace to eat. It has it's own pool (that we had to ourselves mostly) which was great after getting to the top of the hill and the owners Jacques and Martine were more than friendly, helping us with our French and speaking as much English as they could with us. I would recommmend this B&B and probably stay again, but unless you enjoy hiking hire a car for the hill!

Enjoyed Alberto's hospitality for 7 days from 30th September 2014. Great relaxing location a short drive from Nice city centre . Nothing is too much trouble for Alberto in his desire to provide a high standard of comfort . Exceptional value.

This is by far the best place I have ever booked, i'm recommending to anyone who likes to have a unique experience of the french riviera to go here.

You know you had an excellent vacation when on the checkout from the hotel all you can think about is how you can give back to the hotel and their amazing hospitality with a great feed-back on tripadvisor :)

I'll start with the only "downside" on the place's area is that finding the hotel is a bit tricky but once you get used to it - It's not that bad. The address of the hotel is a point in the main road which from there you need to climb with your car on a narrow private road and follow the signs leading you to the beautiful house. Not for the weak hearted :) We actually really enjoyed it.

It is highly recommended to rent a car in order to enjoy this place since it is a 5 minute away from the Nice Center (Nightlife, Restaurants, etc.) - we found it perfect for us to travel around the french riviera and then have a quite and green home to come back to at the end of the day.

We were for 4 nights in the start of September 2014- Weather was perfect and a bit crowded on the streets but not as it probably was in July-August. Best time to visit the french riviera if you're looking to relax.
In my opinion - if you really want to enjoy Nice, Monaco and the surrounding french villages. A rental car is a must. Specially for a young couple like us.

As of many reviews here already said I must add too that in this hotel there is an amazing host named Alberto - He did all that is possible for us to feel good and you can't put a price for that. I read the comments and i thought well how good a host can be? but when you meet Alberto you'd realize that you're facing a man with a lot of knowledge regarding the french riviera that all his goals is to serve you and give you the best experience of the french riviera with excellent tips .

The house is a house from the 1850 - SO BEAUTIFUL.

We are a couple that in our home NEVER goes to sleep without A/C and there was not A/C in the rooms - We were a bit concerned in the beginning I honestly tell you that we didn't even noticed it - The house is from the 1850 and the walls are really thick - You don't need A/C at all there is a large fan for your usage there but we never even plugged it in.

The breakfast is served on the beautiful terrace with a great view to green hills. The breakfast was really good with a yummy home-made jam made by the host.

The rooms were decorated in a french style and each room is decorated according to a certain theme - we loved it!

In the place there is a small pool which is real fun -
The atmosphere in the place is really romantic and and I'm sure i'll be here again. Felt like home from the first second. I had a really good intuition when I canceled an hotel in Nice and booked this place which is a bit behind all the hotels in a green area And I'm really happy i was not mistaken, not even one bit! :)

So to conclude - If you're planning to rent a car, have a peaceful, romantic vacation and want to enjoy the special personal hospitality by the host - I defiantly recommend this place for you.

Breakfast on the terrace with the hills in view, a beautiful atmosphere, lovely host (Alberto).. This place is magical. Our room was lovely and Alberto will go out of his way to ensure you have a comfortable stay. He recommended a few restaurants and things to do in the area and they were all fantastic as well.

There is no doubt the location is hidden and hard to find initially. Once you know how to get there, your options are to catch a bus and walk (>10 mins uphill), taxi (they may not be willing to drive up the last incredibly steep hill though), or car - if you're game to drive. This is the only obstacle.. For us, it was 100% worth it as we got a bus out and taxi back and were not bothered by the short walk uphill.

We drove from Sunderland to NIce (obviously with stops on the way)to be there for the Tour de France and were not disappointed. Yes the Castel Enchante is difficult to find(a local couple very kindly lead us there following their car(which did wonders for Anglo French relationships) its quite a scary climb you just conquer the road and then have to face the steepest drive we've ever encountered (not for the faint hearted!) but wow so worth it. What a fantastic welcome from Alberto (new owner from January) and his family. A traditional villa as we hoped, living up to our expectations with a relaxing pool area. Wonderful hospitality(home made jam just wonderful), helpful with knowledge of the area from places to visit and local restaurants to eat in.Nothing was a problem. Well done Alberto .

2nd time around staying 3 nights as a base for Nice and the Monaco Grand Prix. Alberto was a great host and Castel Enchante is a great alternative to a mainstream hotel. Most of the time we had exclusive use and Alberto provided us with Wine from his cellar at extremely reasonable costs including Champagne.

I stayed here for 3 nights with my ex sister-in-law, between us we have 5 teenaged daughters (14, 15, 16, 17 and 18 years old). They loved it - and as anyone knows, teenagers are very hard to please!

The house is gorgeous and one of our rooms had a terrace which was great for us all to sit on in the evenings. The pool is a Godsend!

The breakfast, taken on the terrace was simply great - and Martine always had something different everyday = lovely fresh brownies or fruit cake or different cheeses. The breakfast was bountiful and fresh and you could really stuff your face!

The owners couldn't have been nicer - friendly, cheerful and helpful. Unlike a previous reviewer we did get a good taxi who only charged 15 euros for a car here. Martine also recommended a driver to take us to the airport (35 euros).

Only word of warning - it is a very steep walk from the mainroad and if you want to save money by not getting taxis - the last bus back from the centre of Nice goes at 8pm! So if you prefer to be a short stroll away from all the activity, restaurants etc then this is not the place for you. It is a bit off the beaten track, but that is part of its charm. Alternatively, hire a car, as long as you are happy negotiating hair pin bends.

In this respect, it is not for the faint-hearted or infirm - it's a bit like a cardiac workout walking up the hills, but if you don't mind this, you will be rewarded with a lovely stay. I shall definitely be returning with my husband next year, but I will hire a car!

Alberto and his family made us feel very welcome from the moment we arrived. We came for the grand prix and he was very kind in giving us bus and taxi information to help us get around as we didn't have a car. Yes this place is out of the way but if you want something comfortable, and not run of the mill then this lovely rustic house is for you.

Breakfast on the terrace every morning was lovely, and sitting out there in the evenings listening to the frogs was relaxing. Room was spacious, well furnished with plenty of wardrobe and drawer space, tea and coffee making with fridge which was great for drinks etc. Pool and sun loungers available which we didn't get chance to use but lovely to have the option.

Yogi the family dog was a friendly meet and greet - he came to say hi and have a fuss which was lovely. Everyone makes you feel very comfortable.

I have been to many places and have stayed at many hotels of 4/5 stars. None of them could offer as luxurious a stay as Le Castel Enchante could. Luxuriuos in the sense of calmness and harmony, and a service where you are in the focus. A car is a must. Sandra and Darius from Norway

Good morning Uche, I always sugget to all my guest to rent a car, you have a bus who arrive 700 meters down the hill where there's our house; more in general, for visiting the French Riviera, you need a car. Concerning the check in, normally it's start from 5 pm; you can arrive earlier, I'll try to give the room as soon as I can, but please be informed that check outis at 11 am, then we have to clean the room, so maybe yo'll have to wait.
