The Hotel is in a great location and the staff where very helpful and friendly and I would recommend this hotel.

The only sour taste for me is that I arranged through the hotel our transfer from the airport and I was given a price in advance. However, upon arrival at the hotel the price was different by €15 apparently it is more expensive on a Sunday.

I did speak to the reception staff but they only said the price they gave was from the hotel on our departure not both ways. I found this disappointing because I had a clear email chain between me and the hotel and my request was clear.

Please don’t get me wrong the hotel is very good and breakfast is nice but as the above was the very first experience after arriving it wasn’t the best start for us.

Also I’ve never had to pay a €100 damage deposit which I get back at midnight.

Response from Goldstar Resort, Directeur général at Goldstar Apartments & Suites
Responded 18 Mar 2020
Dear Dean, thank you very much for the time you took to share your feedback with us regarding your recent stay at Goldstar Resort & Suites. It is a pleasure to hear that you enjoyed our hotel's central location - close to the beach, the train station, the old town, pedestrian zone and all the main attractions. Thank you for mentioning the large choice and the quality that our buffet breakfast offers. We are sincerely sorry to read that you did not receive the information about the different taxy fees during the weekend time: nevertheless, officially we have the information from taxy companies that during the weekend the cost increase by 5€. That is why, unfortunately, we cannot always take responsibility of drivers' personal intiatives. We hope that you will keep a good memories of your stay in Nice. Warm Regards, The Management

My friend and I were really pleased with the location of the apartments, they are so close to the beach and Old Town, a short walk from the Tram Stop (to and from the airport) plus to the main station too.

The kitchenette is a lovely addition , a fridge, a small stove if required and plenty of crockery, glasses and cups. A toaster and kettle too.

They initially supply a small amount of tea and coffee/creamer but this doesn’t automatically get replaced although I’m sure they’d provide more if requested.

The staff were all very friendly, spoke good English, welcoming and helpful.

Highly recommend.

Went back to Nice and to this hotel after 12 years. Chose to return to this place because we were happy with the spaciousness and mini kitchen.

We were upgraded to a bigger one bedroom suite which was huge. We brought food to eat in for dinner a couple of nights and so made good use of the kitchen facilities: microwave, plates and dishwasher. The chairs by the little dining table were so comfortable we didn't even use the couch.

Bathroom was big with a separate toilet. There was no conditioner or lotion so we bought conditioner.

We were not explained the housekeeping process during check-in, so we were surprised to find the suite not cleaned the next day. It is complimentary once every 3 days so we requested it for the second day of our 3 night stay.

Location is excellent, a few blocks from the beach and the area is full of restaurants, mini markets, a few blocks from a carrefour and boulangerie. It's a slightly long walk to the old town area.

The staff were friendly and helpful. Hotel was quiet. Some streetnoise late into Saturday night but nothing bad.

Overall we were very happy with our stay and would come back here if we're in Nice again!

Cons: We'd have liked a coffee machine in the kitchen especially since we were eating breakfast in every morning.

We were very much looking forward to our stay in Nice at this hotel. When we booked it it was on a B&B basis with use of the swimming pool. We then discovered at a later date that it was not now a hotel but had been changed to self catering accommodation with NO use of the pool. In addition Easyjet had cancelled our flights to Nice so we in turn had to cancel the booking.

We had paid a deposit in good faith on our card. Their terms and conditions stated we could cancel up to 17th December and receive a full refund of this deposit.

Upon contacting the email address for bookings we were told it would be up to 45 days for a refund. This date passef so we contacted them again. We were then told it could be longer.

2/3 months later and we have no refund and now the hotel will not respond to any emails.

Be prepared to lose money if you book with them & have to cancel.

The apartment was nice and clean. Had all the facilities we needed. Very short walk to the beach, shops and restaurants are not too far either. The main bed was comfortable but the sofa bed was not. So I recommend getting an apartment with separate beds for children if you are staying more than a few nights. A few of the door knobs need fixing. Other than that it is convenient and well managed.

Fantastic place to stay. This amazing hotel ap is 5 min walk to the beach and centre.
The room was amazing and well equipped. I had a superb view towards the boulevard and the beautiful 18th century buildings. The reception team was amazing and answered all my questions and accepted to keep in a safe place my luggages after I checked in and out. The piece is great comparing the other hotels and taking in consideration this is central Nice during summer. Thank you and I’m already looking to book for next year :).

I recently booked a 4 day stay from the hotels website ( 5 days before arrival ) I printed out confirmation from the site and recieved e-mail confirmation at19.50.I then booked flights to Nice. At 20.36 I recieved an e-mail with a booking cancellation from the hotel even though I had done nothing of the sort .I immediately contacted the hotel by phone only to be told it was a computor error and to make another booking .This I did but the price had gone up by 300 euros!!. Again I printed this off the hotel site and recieved e- mail confirmation at 2100. I then sent an e-mail detailing all the printout times etc asking them to attend to the discrepancy. The following morning an e-mail from the sales manager advised that the prices change twice a day and that the computor automatically cancelled my booking - 40 minute later then! ! I phoned her direct to discuss the situation.Oh boy ,it was the shear arrogance that was breathtaking .To sum up -it does not matter if you are a new customer , neither if you have proof of confirmation of a price ( when you make a booking on their site apparently , it has to be confirmed by reception so your confirmation from the site is unreliable as is the following e-mail confirmation from the hotel also !!! ) the hotel can change this at will ?! Nowhere on the hotels site ( including the terms and conditions - they come part of the confimation ! does it inform you of this buisness practice ) needless to say I am now staying at a different hotel !

We stayed for 6 nights.

I mostly liked the suite space and design,
the comfy beds,
the location,
the swimming pool,
the free WIFI, and
the generous towels!

We had no food at the hotel.

The gym equipment is very limited, basically unusable.

Dear Mr David thank you for giving this kind feedback about your experience at Goldstar Resort. It is a great pleasure for us to read your words about our good central location. Indeed all the main attractions, shops, bars, restaurants and the sea front are very close to the hotel. We are delighted that you appreciated the comfort of our beds and the configuration of our suites which has, in addition to the room, a fully-equipped kitchen, a modern bathroom in granite and a bath or shower with separated toilet. We are sorry if you did not enjoyed our fitness area but we inform you that we do not have a real fitness room, our gym area is actually more designed for occasional fitness training, rather than heavy workouts. Despite your little inconvenicences we hope anyway that you will keep good memories of your stay with us and we look forward to welcoming you back again for your next stay in Nice. Best re

Have just returned from a 3 night stay in Nice. We travelled with family to celebrate an anniversary. The rooms were spacious, clean and well equipped, The staff were all very friendly and helpful.

One of the downsides to our stay was the breakfast. My wife and I had breakfast included in the price of our room but the parents who were celebrating did not, but decided to pay for breakfast - a hefty but typical €15. I appreciate there were 8 of us to accommodate for breakfast and the staff were helpful setting up tables for us - but the breakfast was not well equipped and with a coffee machine that broke down most mornings. It took a good 30 mins to get coffee on the second morning, even after asking for one to be made fresh while the machine was broken - which never appeared. There was 30 mins with no pastry's or hot food, no bowls, no fruit, no fresh water. What was provided was adequate - but for a 4* hotel you would hope the breakfast would be well equipped and pastry's were fresh(ish), but they were just the same as I buy frozen from a local farm shop at home.

We did use the pool area but seems the water was not being heated that afternoon. Also the sauna was closed, even though the signs stated it was open all day.

Robes and slippers were provided in the rooms, though one of the robes had a rather large hole in it. The aircon in the room only seemed to want to pump out warm air, which is not good in a warm hotel. The lifts had a mind of their own, taking you up to other floors when you want to go down. Also note the stair way (for those not keen on glass lifts) is locked sometimes - so you may find you walk down 3 flights only to find the doors locked ! Also not good when you go back to the floor you were on to find that door had locked itself also ! Thankfully one of the other floors was unlocked and we could get out !

As mentioned, our parents travelled with us and we booked them a Consul suit and we booked a Junior suit (including breakfast) for ourselves. I still cannot work out what rooms we were given as our rooms were exactly the same, except the parents room being approx €20 more each night and their room did not come with breakfast ! If we were given a room upgrade, then thank you Goldstar ! If we were not then the parents had the wrong size room and had to pay for their breakfast. Very confused !

These points certainly changed our opinion of the hotel and would probably not use it again. Not what you would expect for a fairly expensive 4* hotel.

We used to take summer holidays in luxury villas in Greece or Cyprus in quiet but scenic locations. Whilst my wife and I find this sort of thing idyllic our teenage children now find this boring and miss high speed internet access. We are trying out different sorts of holiday to see if we can find something that meets all our needs. Our latest venture was a 4 day stay at Goldstar resort and suites in Nice in late February to get away from the cold and gloom of England.

We booked two 'Ambassador' 50m2 suites directly via the hotel website. The suites are very spacious, clean and generally well maintained. There is a large bathroom with dual sinks and a corner bath. There is a tiny kitchenette with microwave, 2 ring hob and kettle. The living room has a comfortable leather sofa which converts to double bed, a desk and small table with two not very comfortable chairs.

The TV is a Haier LT32K1 32 in LT32k1 in LCD TV. The supplied channels are mostly French. The only English language channels I could find were CNN and BBC world news which suffered from interference. The TV has HDMI inputs so you can stream content from your digital device provided you brought an HDMI cable with you and your room has a genuine Haier remote. The whole family happily watched 'House' via Netflix on a a Kindle whilst having a picnic in the lounge. The TV also has a VGA input so with the appropriate cables you could stream input from a laptop.

The aircon and heating was effective and quiet. The suites come with comfortable king size or twin beds. I found the pillows a bit soft. Our lounge was next to the lift so we got a little noise from that but it was not a problem. We chose the hotel because it offered suites and it had a covered rooftop pool and bar. The pool is smaller than it looks on website in fact it is about the size one would expect from a private villa but it is immaculately clean. You need to book the sauna and steam room in advance as they are only switched on when needed, and they got booked up early on the one day that it rained. The steam room is excellent, but the sauna is tiny and a bit cool. We all swam and used the spa at least once a day during our stay.

The Gym is only three machines, and one of them did not have the arm bar present. Perhaps you have to ask for it?

The location of the hotel at the intersection of rue Meyerbeer and Rue Marechal Joffre is ideal. The road outside can be noisy at rush hour but is completely quiet after 9 o' clock. The promenade is only a couple of hundred yards walk away and rue Meyerbeer has several mini-markets including a Carrefour city. There is a wonderful patisserie within 50 m.

I cannot comment on the breakfast as we took a room only deal and never tried it.

All of the family enjoyed our stay. Crucially the Wi-fi is reliable. The speed is modest at 2Mbps but this was enough for our children to stay happily connected. We found all the staff to be very friendly.

The hotel is not perfect. For example the shower in the spa is cold however it is adjusted and the bracket holding the headset is broken, the toilet seats in the spar are stupidly high so even an average adult's feet dandle when sitting on them. The toilet seat in our suite was chipped and yellowed, and the safety rail above bath and the coat hooks were coming away from the wall.

However all the minor flaws are overcome by the spacious and comfortable accommodation, the great location and the friendly and welcoming staff. I think we may have cracked it!
