The owners couldn't have been more helpful. They even helped squeeze our car into a very right partking space in the street outside. They are lovely people and really put themselves out to help and welcome all their guests. Parking in Nice isn't easy but there is a tram stop just within a few minutes' walking distance. €1.50 ticket each way to the centre of Nice and the ticket machine is at the tram stop and very easy to work out. You can also get a tram straight to the airport from the bottom of the road. Next time we visit we'd come in by tram and hire the car the next day from the airport. Definitely a place we'd want to come back to.

This is the most cosy hotel, that has a nice and homey vibe. I loved my stay, and felt taken care of at all times. The staff were very polite, funny, and helpful with explaining the area. I stayed here alone as a woman in my early twenties, and felt safe at all times during my stay. Will definetly be staying here again

I booked 2 rooms for my family of 5 (double and triple) and had a wonderful stay; hotel owners are super helpful and friendly. This is a no frills hotel but super clean, well located (2 blocks from the beach, a few blocks from tram as well as airport) and affordable. I highly recommend it.

Hard to know where to start really. Firstly this isn't a hotel, at least not by any definition that I would use, it is a house that rents out rooms. It is located in a low rent suburb of Nice framed by two very busy main roads and at the end of the runway of Nice airport hence it is very noisy.

Lets start with one of the claims this hotel makes. Parking is available on site or can be arranged at a cost. This amounted to directions to the local multistory a full 15 minutes walk away we struggled to understand what the actual "arranging" part by the hotel was.

Restaurants and shops within 500 metres. There were only pizza delivery shops and a few down at heel bars located next to the main road. There was one so called restaurant which never seemed to have customers but did want to charge Michelin star prices which seemed a bit ambitious given the nature of the location.

So we had to get the bus every night into Nice which took 25-30 minutes and then trek all the way to the rail station to pick up the night bus to get back, which was always crowded and then walk past what appeared to be "working girls" who were congregating at the bottom of the road. I must say that we didn't feel threatened in any way but it just didn't feel like a good place to be.

They also claim that they are 150 metres to the beach, well they need to buy a new tape measure. Sure the beach isn't far but this is the very end of Nice beach and is very run down and frequented by down and outs so wasn't a particularly nice place to spend time.

Our room was a so called Deluxe double, god alone knows what the standard was like. The room had no drawer space and the bed was more or less a double camp bed I have seriously slept on more comfortable floors. It is fair to say the room was relatively clean but for me that is an expectation not a bonus.

The end result was our holiday was ruined because we were so unhappy with this hotel and in fact we checked out early to get away. It is hard to fathom how this hotel got good reviews, maybe our expectations are just too high but I would strongly urge anyone to heed this review before booking as this is not a good hotel and it is not in a nice part of the city.

Our flight to Nice from Paris was delayed. We called ahead to inform the owner, but as we speak only a few words of French, and he speaks no English at all, we doubt if he got the message. When we arrived at the hotel, it was a little after 10 pm, not that late in what is a pretentious beach town. We rang the doorbell and after what seemed like an eternity, the owner came out, screamed and hollered indignantly, slammed the key on the counter and disappeared back in to his room.
It was terribly hot, the room had just one small window, no fan and no air conditioning.
The next day, we requested the owner if he could give us a table fan to use, for which I was happy to pay extra, and he flat refused.
To rub in the agony further, these terribly rude person charged me 5 euros per day for wifi, which had a weak signal, and whose reception was only available in one corner of the lawn.
Never have I met such a rude, uncouth and unpleasant individual in any other part of the world. Thankfully, we spent most of our time away from the hotel, but I would never, ever recommend this place to anyone.

If a hotel can make or break your trip, then this one surely goes all out to ruin your holiday completely. Mid-August heat can be dreadful in Nice and all you want to do is sleep peacefully after a long day out in the sun. But that is impossible in Hotel Victorine which is not really a hotel but just an average home-stay. If French is not your first language then you'll never have a conversation with this couple who run it. But you will constantly get this feeling that they understand everything but just don't want to. One can handle the lack of communication but you don't want to pay money to a person who has a serious attitude problem and is downright rude.
The match-box sized room and bathroom took us by surprise. We don't know if we got the tiniest room they had or if all of them were the same size. Except for the cleanliness (which was perfect) the room was simply claustrophobic. With temperature soaring to 34 degrees and not even a fan to sleep is not what we paid for. To make things worse when my husband got unwell and was running high fever because of the heat, the owner did nothing to help us. We requested him to lend us those extra table fans they have in the reception (for extra charges) but he wouldn't listen. We didn't sleep at all for those 3 nights at this horrible hotel.
If we had a chance and not gone by the previous reviews we would have never booked here.

This hotel will take your money and run you off with no intention of providing a room.

We booked and paid in advance, only to show up and find the place locked up with nobody to field our reservation. Eventually, a man emerged and attempted to scare us off-- making threats, yelling at us to leave, and refusing to allow us to explain that we had a reservation or show our confirmation code.

The result was that we ended up roaming the streets of Nice at night without phones, fresh off a plane in a foreign country with nowhere to stay. Don't let this happen to you. Avoid our debacle. Book elsewhere.

Update: Air BNB eventually decided in our favor and refunded the money after our complaint was filed.

The room is very small and has no airconditioner, even a fan. The host is not good at English. The most impotant thing is it will charge you 10% prepayment as reservation guaranty which is not refunded. So if you might cancel it, you had better not choose this hotel.

One block away from the Promenade, this is a magnificent and safe place to stay in Nice. The owners were incredibly friendly, helpful in giving directions, showing things on the map and offering suggestions on where to go. The room was always clean, towels fresh, the shower and sink new, the terrace was a charming place to have breakfast. Right next to the hotel there is a big supermarket and a bus station with numerous buses going to the center, the beach and St. Paul, the train station is about 5-minute walk with trains going to Cannes (20 min), Antibes (15 min), Eze (25 min) and Monaco(40 min). A superb little hotel with french charm, I would stay here again and again!

We stayed at la Victorine for the last week of September. It was not our first visit, but our best as it is under new ownership since 2013, and has been completely remodeled and refurnished. Because of the length of our stay we had one of the larger rooms (still small by American standards), but the mattress was good, and the room in the back, so a bit quieter than in the front. The buffet-breakfast was very good, croissants, pains au chocolat, jam, butter, lots of fresh fruits, cold-cuts etc. The owners will make fresh coffee as requested by each guest. As the weather was nice, we were able to eat in the front garden each morning. The hotel is not located in the most touristy part of town, but near bus stops, and walking distance to La Promenade des Anglais. We'll stay there next time we visit our family in Nice.
