This hotel is very good for the price, don't expect anything fancy, but you'll be right in the center of Nice, minutes form the beach, 10 minutes from the tram stop, and close to many restaurants and shops. The hotel is a part of an apartment complex, you have to get to the 4th floor to actually access the hotel and the reception desk. The lift is very small and makes funny noises, so if you have more luggage, you might need to take the stairs instead. The staff is very helpful, the hotel is not open 24/7 though. You'll get codes so you can open both doors after 8 pm, and you can call this phone number to reach the reception anytime.
The hotel offers in-room breakfast which is nice.
I had a single room which was surprisingly spacious for a single room, very clean with a large terrace with an amazing view. The shower was pretty small and there was space to put your toiletries, the shower was very modern though.
Two things I didn't like about this hotel - the walls are paper thin so you can hear everything from your neighbors. Because the hotel is located on a busy street, it gets very loud at night too. Secondly, the bed was very uncomfortable, very hard, I hardly got some sleep.
If they change the beds and pillow, I'll be happy to come back! I recommend this hotel to those who like staying in the center and are not too demanding.

Perfect little spot in the most amazing location. Room is small but fine. Balcony was larger than expected and a lovely spot to read a book or have a wine on. The staff were all so friendly and helpful whenever we had questions or required things ie beach towel, bottle opener etc
Would definitely stay here again

I wasnt sure what to expect because i chose accomodation based on price and proximity to the beach. (Basically the cheapest thing we could find that had any kind of balcony or terrace, that still looked close to the beach!) We were so pleasantly suprised! Hotel Solara is a really great place.. excellent location close to all the restaurants and shops, with a quick walk to the beach and old Nice. Clean and comfortable with a wonderful terrace and a lovely view. The staff were helpful, friendly and accommodating. We loved it, thank you!

The hotel fulfilled our expectations. Excellent central location, clean room, very nice terrace for reasonable price. Friendly staff. The hotel is located on the top floor, miniscule elevator is available.

We loved our stay at Hotel Solara. The concierge were helpful; we were given a map which was a lovely touch. Our room was cleaned daily to a perfect standard, and the facilities, with mini fridge, were great. We would return here without any hesitation - thanks for an amazing stay!

We found this hotel by a trip advisor and we're pleased to say it lived up to all expectations. Location overlooking Rue de France was perfect, and the promenade des anglais was just a few minutes away. The balcony had chairs and table, so we always had the possibility of eating or drinking there. Literally round the corner was a Spar supermarket and 100 yards up the road was an excellent baker/patisserie. We nearly always got our own breakfast and had it on the balcony, although we could always have had breakfast brought to us for eight euros each.

Transport was easy. Getting the 98 bus from the airport and stopping at the Congres stop meant we avoided any tax bill and only paid four euros each for our bus tickets. From the Congres stop the hotel is less than a five minute walk.
The fridge in the room meant we could easily keep drinks chilled. We also took our own travel Kettle knowing that French hotels don't provide these.

The Father and son team were excellent, helpful whenever asked but never prying into your business.

The lift was everything you would expect after having read the reviews! We are certainly planning to return.

The hotel is in a prime location - a 5 minute walk from the beach, a 20 min walk from the train station, and a 15 min walk from the old town. It's clean, the staff are helpful and friendly and the room where we stayed had balconies looking over the pedestrian only street below.

When we arrived late on the train, we schlepped through the streets and I was terrified - some very old broken down places with rickety "hotel" signs. But when we arrived at Solara, I was SO relieved- what a *wonderful* little place. 14 rooms on the top 2 floors of a secure apartment building. It was so quiet (only 7 rooms were occupied when we were there) and because you enter codes to enter the building and the hotel floor, very secure. The lift is little (it's Europe- C'est la vie!) and going to and from the room means using that or the 104 stairs which we commonly used- we found it a delightful way to add to the whole European experience. The staff are great- all speak great english (one young woman speaks 4 languages really well!) and are so helpful with maps and information.

This hotel has one of the best locations we could have wanted - Carrefore, a very affordable and ample grocery and fantastic restaurants and shops all within a few blocks. 20 min walk from train station, 5-6 mins to old town, 5 mins to the beach, 15 mins to Castle Hill and 20 mins to the Port if you stroll.

We were thrilled to pay the extra funds for a room with a balcony- what a delight. We ate our own breakfast each morning there and sipped wine or Heineken together each night. One of the BEST parts of the trip was this wonderful spot with such a tremendous view of the lively street morning and night- street performers abound. The balcony is on the roof so you can't be seen from below but you see down to all the action of Nice. Two nights out of our 7, the room next door had occupants so we had to share the balcony space (there is a frosted glass partition between you, but it is obvious when they are on their side of the terrace). But close the doors and shutters and it is utterly silent when you go to sleep. The room we had was #11 with a crisp beach theme- plain drapes and bedding, but very cozy. The wifi could be a little particular at times, but we were still able to skype our kids with success almost daily.

We would be utterly delighted to stay at this location again- be sure to check out the plaque by the door indicating the history of the building during WWII. Beautiful place- worth every penny, but very reasonably priced for the area.

This hotel is in a perfect location in an old building, and is small and friendly. I really enjoyed our stay. Just remember - this is a 2 star hotel. There is nothing fancy or luxurious, aside from the fact that you get a hairdryer in the room (which seems fairly uncommon at the 2-star level). I will definitely stay here again.

One note - the street below may be a little noisy, but we turned on the AC/fan and closed the doors and slept very soundly at night. It wasn't an issue for us at all.

I agree with the others, get a room with a balcony. It is totally worth it. We had room 11 on the corner. In the afternoons, we sat on the balcony and took a break from our long days of walking around the city. Great views!
