A small family run boutique hotel situated in the heart of Nice in the Carré d’Or area, only a 5 minute walk to the Promenade des Anglais. This charming hotel has a beautiful little garden, almost like a little oasis in the middle of the city. Breakfasting here in the summer months is just a delight! The rooms are tastefully decorated in Provençal style with newly fitted bathrooms. Marion and the staff are so welcoming and nothing is too much trouble for them. Wonderful place to stay and I would highly recommend it for couples. Great location in the city with many shops, restaurants and bars close by.

This was a lovely hotel in a quiet location close to shopping areas and eateries.
We had an airy room with large window onto secluded garden and a comfortable bed.
Really helpful staff especially Tatiana who let us leave our small overnight bags early before check-in and also after check-out.
Tiny but functional shower room.
Corridor is next to breakfast area and early noise (especially children) on Sunday morning prevented a lie-in but you learn to live with these things.

What an excellent hotel this is for the price we paid in expensive Nice. The small unassuming entrance doorway to the hotel hides what a lovely little boutique hotel this is. Rooms full of character, tastefully decorated but with modern bathrooms. Location is excellent - a few minutes walk from the beach and old town along with a lovely little hotel garden. What makes this hotel excellent however is the helpfulness of the family owners. We had cycled from the UK so had complicated logistics in needing to send ahead bike transport boxes and store bikes - all dealt with brilliantly.
I cannot recommend this hotel more if you want a friendliness, comfort and value for money.

My family and I stayed at the Nice Garden hotel a few weeks ago and had a wonderful time. The hotel is in a great location, very accessible for shops, restaurants, the beach, tram and train stops. There is a beautiful garden with seating areas, perfect for eating breakfast or relaxing after a busy day. The hotel staff are lovely, very friendly and accommodating, the rooms were spotlessy clean, room 3 had an exceptionally comfortable bed. Highly recommend this hotel and will definitely return.

We were made very welcome, had comfortable rooms and enjoyed the excellent location too. Outstanding value and warmly recommended. As well as having a private garden, there is a delightful square opposite the front entrance and all the treasures of Nice are within easy reach.

Too many tripadvisor stars caused this small hotel to be constantly booked and owners to become arrogant and unpleasant when you actually manage to find a room. It must have been a true diamond in the rough some years ago but alas not more. There are probably better deals to be found. It is almost as you are making them a favor to stay in their hotel. Lost the customer focus!

Everything about the Nice Garden Hotel was perfect! Location, price, character, people and comfort. Villa Latour recommeded this hotel to me and I am so glad they did. Marion, the hostess was lovely, warm and so helpful...I arrived before my friends and she not only woke me from a nap (as I forgot my alarm clock) but recommended a wonderful Thai place where I was able to get a late night dinner. We were able to enjoy fresh croissants and OJ each morning in the beautiful garden which greeted us each morning with the lovely smell of Jasmine. I've attached pics of the garden and our room which Marion upgraded us to free of charge.

This is a family run establishment and if you're lucky you get to meet Marion's dad and her dog, Jack!! It's also in a great area...4 blocks from the beach, 2 blocks from the pedestrian area and a 5 minute walk to Old Town and the beautiful flower market.

In case you haven't noticed, I highly recommend the Nice Garden Hotel! :)

We have just returned from a 4 day anniversary break in Nice, having used trip advisor as a guide to select this hotel some three months ago - We were not disappointed!
(I contacted the hotel directly by email, as some other websites were showing the hotel as fully booked.)
We agree with all the numerous positive reviews posted, fantastic welcome, even though we turned up early (easy jet flight from Bristol gets in at 10:40), great location, just off the Promenade des Anglais (Got off the airport bus at Rue du Congress - hotel is 2 minutes up that street).
From the outset Marion and the 'family' made us feel really welcome, and were only too willing to help when we made day trips to nearby Monte Carlo (20mins on train- 14 euros ret) and Cannes (45 minutes on train- 22 euros ret) - Both travel along the coast where the scenery is stunning.
A tip for travelling from the airport- the 98 bus was the easy option - 4 Euros will get you a run around ticket you can use all day, which includes the new looking tram system in Town - Just remember to validate your ticket on each journey.
(Single journeys around town are only 1 euro anyway, but the 4 euro was the only option from airport)
When eating out, we visited the old town primarily, where there are numerous cafe's to watch the world go by, but on the last night we found a Cuban bar in Rue del la Buffa - La Havane (First right as you leave hotel towards the promenade) - Live salsa music/dancing and authentic cuisine.
The garden of the hotel was so relaxing; sitting watching the sun go down with a cold drink is the only way to unwind after a day's sightseeing - Breakfast is recommended, good quality and plenty of it.
Marion, thank everyone for making this break so special !! - We will be back.

We stayed two nights at this wonderful small hotel. It is well located and the owner and her family were very welcoming. Our room (number 3) was very clean and bright and the bathroom was newly renovated. The large king size bed was also brand new and very comfortable.

The hotel is similar to a B&B and the breakfast (extra charge) was fresh and delicious. French cheese, salami, fresh baguette and pastries, muesli, yoghurt, tea and coffee were on offer buffet style. We ate at the dining table indoors, but when the weather is nicer you can eat out in the garden which would be lovely.

The owner was nice enough to give us plenty of Easter chocolate that she had bought for her guests and since easter was over needed to give it away. I have never had such yummy dark chocolate! She had bought it from a quality patisserie.

She recommended the flower markets which were on in the morning (Sunday) and I noticed on our return that day she had been there herself and had vases of fresh roses in the hallway and at the reception.

This is by way of a warning to Trip Advisor readers who may be swayed (as I was) by the glowing reviews on this site for the Nice Garden Hotel and the unbelievably high rating it has garnered on this site, which mystifies me. I just spent a month traveling through Europe, and only once in 28 nights of staying in low-budget hotels did I feel the need to move out of my accommodations and find someplace better. That was my experience of the Nice Garden Hotel, where I spent one night and departed as quickly as I could. First of all, it's not really a hotel; it's a group of rooms on the ground floor of an office/apartment building, above a group of seedy stores, on one of the less attractive blocks of the city. The reception is not 24 hours and the breakfast costs 9 euros extra and was served in a windowless central area that I found very unappealing. My room was small, without a proper closet (just an open aluminum clothes rack) and though it seemed clean enough, everything was cheap and threadbare, from the bedding to the curtains. The bathroom was so cramped and awful I didn't even shower while I was there. The garden is pretty but lots of hotels in Nice have pretty gardens. (I'll mention one in minute) Also, I didn't feel secure in this ground-floor room. The windows were old fashioned and didn't lock securely, and the wood shutters didn't close properly either. The next morning I told the woman at the desk that I was leaving and they charged me for a second night because I hadn't given 24 hours notice. This was annoying, but I didn't care, I just wanted out of there. Worst of all, she was defensive and made it out to be my fault ("Well, what do you expect from a 2 star hotel?"), as I'm sure any management response on this site to my review will also be. I went out looking for new accommodations and soon found, RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER, on the elegant Blvd. Victor Hugo, the beautifully renovated 4 star Villa Victoria, where I moved immediately and enjoyed three more nights in Nice in great comfort and what seemed like great luxury, with all the amenities, a gorgeous bathroom, a fantastic garden, free breakfast, lovely people at the desk round the clock... for what amounted to ONLY 10 EUROS A NIGHT MORE!!! Never were 10 euros better spent. Beware of the Nice Garden Hotel. It is not necessary to put yourself through that depressing experience when there's an infinitely better alternative a block away.

Response from marionhoffmann, Guest Relations Manager at Nice Garden Hotel
Responded 29 Apr 2015
Dear casacara2015, Firstly we would like to thank you for taking the time to write this review. It is only through feedback such as yours that we are able to maintain and, where necessary, improve upon the service that we provide to our guests. We are sorry that you did not enjoy your stay at our hotel, and we are glad you found another place that corresponds more to your needs. The TripAdvisor reviews we obtain are more an indicator of the happiness of our guests, than a reflection of the level of luxury offered. Our primary concern is the well-being and satisfaction of all our guests, and we are happy to have succeeded in this with the vast majority of our guests since we run our hotel. We are sorry for the disparity of expectations that occurred in this situation, and we hope our guests will consider a stay at our hotel for what it does offer: a small family-run hotel, with a homely and comfortable atmosphere, intended to make our guests feel at home during their stay. We highlight again that we do not offer the same standard of luxury and amenities that you will find in a four or five star hotel, and we never claimed to do so. We do apologise for the inappropriate answer of our staff member on your departure, and this has been addressed with the concerned party. I rejoice certain points you have made in your comment, notably regarding the size of our bathrooms which are unfortunately quite small. We have however pointed this out on previous occasions on TripAdvisor. Although our atmosphere feels homely, it is important to mention that we are a hotel - that complies with all requirements. We are in a prime area of Nice called in French “Golden Square” (Carré d’Or), which is one of the most renowned neighbourhoods of the city, conveniently located near all important sights. Our hotel is in a historical building featuring “Belle Époque” architecture, which has notably hosted the family of the famous German writer Thomas Mann. The room you stayed in is a lovely classical double room with garden view, with a brand new wood floor, a crystal chandelier and designer (Habitat/Conran Shop) furniture. Furthermore, it is very bright due to a floor-to-ceiling window. The window has French shutters, which have also been newly renovated. Regarding security concerns, our rooms are on a mid-level floor and open onto our private garden only. It was made clear both in your proposition/confirmation and on our website that breakfast comes at an extra cost and that our reception closes during the night. I would like to point out that we live on site, and we keep a duty number at the disposal of all our guests which makes us reachable at any time. All our rates and policies are transparent and advertised on the internet, where they are easily comparable to the ones of other properties such as four star hotels. We apologise again for your negative experience, but be assured that we do give our best to all the guests that come to visit us in Nice every year. We are happy to stay at your disposal at any time if you wish to contact us. Kind regards, Anna

Hi, we are very sorry for the late reply and hope that the information is still helpful. Unfortunately, we do not have any private parkings. You can park your car in the Streets, yet you would have to pay a ticket every two hours. It is for free after 7 pm, yet you should keep in mind that it might be stressful to find a decent parking spot, as we are in the city center. There are many hôtels with parkings in the area, such as the Palais de la Méditerranée. We hope that this information helped you a little bit. Best wishes, the staff of the Nice Garden Hotel :).
