Granted this is not a 5 star hotel. But unless you are willing to spend several hundred dollars in Nice, France this place will do. The beds are very comfortable, the rooms, and bathrooms are very clean. The staff is very friendly. The hotel is located near the train station and to the beach. My standards are high and it is very hard to meet them in Europe. But I would stay here again anytime. My suggestion if you chose to stay anywhere in the south of france, is to skip the breakfasts and go to the fresh fruit markets. The have fresh croissants and wonderful fruit. Take a tea or coffee in a cafe and eat your breakfast.

We have just returned from a week at the Hotel Le Scribe in Nice. The hotel gives a good clean impression from the front and through to the lobby area which looks very nice and new.
The staff are very friendly and make you very welcome, even on occasions when the staff dont speak english they will get someone who speaks english for you which is good.
The rooms itself are quite big and clean with a bathroom shower and sink. Our room had a tv, big wardrobe and includes a safe which was nice also desk and chairs. As it is a 3* hotel all the basics are there. The things we might have wished for are a fridge, tea/coffee making facilities and a hair dryer, but these were not essentials for us and for the price we paid I think it was very reasonable for what you get.
My only gripes was I think they are a bit tight on giving you shower gel/shampoo as they are given to you as small packets.
If you need extra towels as we did, reception are always happy to help and get them for you if you ask.

The location of the hotel is fantastic, granted its not over looking the sea but it is within easy walking distance to the train station the sea front and also main shopping street and also the "walking area" as the receptionist put it. Basically a pedestrian zone where there are many places to eat, shop and just relax to watch the world go by.

Hotel Le Scribe is not worthy of a 3 star rating. The hotel decor & room furnishings were old & shabby, the room & bathroom were unclean, the linens and towels were old & worn.

would not recommend this Hotel and would never return.

You can find better (much better) places to stay for less money. The front desk is wonderful. We arrived early because of our flights and had a cola in the bar. The man got us a room before we could finish drinking our Coca-Cola. The room was ok. Not elegant, very mediocre as far as decor, but passable. The breakfast was good but the staff needs training. For example, we were pretty much ignored unless we flagged down a server to ask for coffee. Also, servers would pass our table and not remove dirty plates. Sitting in the bar, I sat for about 15 minutes and no one asked me for my order. Finally, my sister went up to see what the problem was. They thought I was talking to the folks at the bar, but they had departed for side chairs and tables and I was sitting there alone quite a long time and no one in the wait staff was smart enough to even ask what I wanted. Therefore, the folks in the bar also could use some training. We paid an additional $600 for two people as an upgrade for our trip, thinking we would have superior rooms and service, which is NOT what we found at Le Scribe. We would have been better off just taking the standard room offered by Viking at another hotel. Lesson learned! Unless you are ok with paying exorbitant prices for less-than-average accommodations, by all means stay here. Otherwise, look elsewhere.

Spent an enjoyable week at this hotel in early April 2007. Friendly and efficient staff - one of the young receptionists called Lionel deserves special mention for his efficiency and friendliness - his professionalism and consistently pleasant manner would put some 5 star receptionists to shame!

The hotel is clean and well maintained. Whilst I didn't eat there, the hotel restaurant is welcoming (though operates to fixed hours) and there is a bar / lounge adjacent to the reception area.

The hotel is well located a ten minute walk from the main Gare (railway station) in Nice - a number 23 bus from the airport (cost EUR 4) takes you straight to the station; the hotel is then a ten minute walk down safe streets - towing your case (remember to watch out for the ubiquitous dog fouling along, it seems, every pavement / sidewalk in the city) .

A short walk from the main shopping drag - Ave Jean Medecin, and a pleasant 15-20 minute walk from the seafront and old town. It was an ideal base for the week and I will be adding it to my list of good 'finds'.

An amazing hotel considering your choices in Paris. We booked it through the embassy and a lady who is a co-owner or a partner. She had a lot of power there so she helped her book it and I was extremely delighted the way they looked after us. The manager always asked if there was any trouble, and the room was perfect. It was spacious and very clean. The bathroom was terrific. A seperate small cabin for the toilet and the showers were in a huge bathroom with two sinks and a huge walk in shower, and a bathtub. Fantastic experience, and very near the central.

The floor structure of the hotel was very old, when somebody walking at the floor up to your room you will hear the step. I was stayed in the room next to the billiard room in the 2nd floor and you will hear all the conversation out there and also the ball knocking. It was not soundproofing room as it said at its advertisement. The hotel decor & room furnishings were old & shabby. The cold water of the bidet was not good so only hot and very hot water comes out from the bidet.
Even 50% discount I'm sure I will not go back again

Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights as part of a tour.
Rooms are an okay size, decor was pretty tired however some of the furniture was quite lovely so rooms could just do with a paint, new bed covers and more modern bathrooms
My room did not have a safe which should be standard in all hotels
In my bathroom there was no shower nozzel holder meaning I had to hold the shower nozzle and put down to shampoo my hair and pick up again to rinse. I also had ants in my bathroom
Location is fine, 10-15 minute walk to the beach. Staff were nice, there is one computer in the lobby with free internet

We’ve just spent a weekend in Nice staying at Hotel Le Scribe. We’d seen some previous reviews which had been posted after we booked our break - so were a bit apprehensive. But any fears were not well founded. The Hotel may be a bit ‘tired’. The bedrooms and bathrooms do need a makeover but they are kept clean by the staff. The reception area and the breakfast room were acceptable and the staff in both were always helpful. The breakfast was particularly good value. All the staff seemed to be able to get by in English – pity we Brits aren’t good at getting by in French.

This is a small hotel about equidistant from the sea-front and the railway station – an ideal base. If the bedrooms were refurbished this would be a real gem.
