Hotel is located in a very good position. With two sea water swimming pools. Rooms are very nice, quality of sleep is good. Internet is working fine. You have the option to park your car at the hotel parking. Personnel is very polite and willing to assist you in any matter. Internet is working fine. Breakfast is rich and with a lot of options. Fresh juice is available. Dinner is at a good standard, a good experience. A little bit more attentions for the depositing spaces, it is not nice to see from the swimming pool what is behind the curtains. Some of the personnel where not wearing masks.

It has been quite some time i have stayed in a 5-star hotel but if, like me you are nostalgic for an era that was more about class than money, you will love it. The staff really made it for us as i hadn't had such good and genuinely friendly service since Quay West on the Rocks in Sidney. We had our last dinner in the restaurant and the flavours equalled le Manoir aux Quatre Saisons, which is my reference.
As many places like this it has neen bought over by a foreign investment company and will be destroyed next year., to be rebuilt over the next 3 years as apartments, if my sources are right.
A hefty price tag? Yes but a memory that will live long after the hotel is gone, in my daughter's and my memory. Un charme desuet, where you expect David Niven to pop in for a cocktail.... Cheers!

Just can't fault the service or the food here. Wonderful on both recent visits. Other restaurants should take note! Had the fish of the day, which was filleted in front of me and tasted marvellous. Wasn't hurried to leave my table and sat soaking in the amazing surroundings. It is just possibly my favourite place in the world.

Me and my family arrived in Saint Jean by boat. Where we received no assurance with luggage. So we put the baggage on the trolley ourselves and brought it all the way to reception, where finally someone took our baggage. We were shown to our rooms; clean, but infested by flys and mosquitos hovering over our bed… We decided to not let this ruin our stay and asked for a booking in the harbors restaurant(La Goelette). During the night the bed was comfortable although lacking a variety of cushions. But the worst came the next morning, at breakfast. You must know my boys have quite the appetite and are usually not satisfied with one petite croissant or one slice of bread. Well at the breakfast you had a basket consisting of 2 croissants, 2 slices of bread, and 2pan a chocolates, 4 pastries and 2 slices of bread in total. Of course the basket was soon emptied, and when we asked the waiter for more the answer was no as we already had consumed our portion. After a lively discussion and my willingness to pay an extra fee for more pastries, a smaller basket consists of 2 pastries and a slice of bread was served… Other than the pastries there was a buffet, it consisted of yogurt cereal milk and a ham, cheese, and salami selection, the later which was shared with the local wasps. Well when i went to get my bowl of cereal and milk it turned out the milk was empty. So I returned to my table with my milkless bowl and asked for the re-filling of the milk. I waited and waited l, and just then my husband noticed that the milk had been indeed filled but left at the buffet. So he brought it to the table and poured it to me and my boys, not disturbed by the waiter I previously asked for the milk. After this we returned to our rooms and had to head to checkout, where we received no help with the luggage, neither from the rooms to reception, and from reception to our boat. At checkout we asked for a discount as two of the rooms we booked where left empty as our friends had a family emergency, but we had to pay full price. Fortunately it was just a one night stay….

Where do I begin? Broken AC in the room, broken glass by the pool, unprofessional staff, non-existent service, or flying umbrellas at the beach?

This hotel makes you feel like you are a burden to the staff, who have absolutely no desire to make the customer feel welcome. Since they’re closing in October, they simply do not care about anything anymore. Don’t go here, you’ll have a more luxurious experience at Six Flags.

I'm used to travel, I'm used to a certain type of service, a top notch one.. Well, you can't find it at la voile d'or! The management simply shows off its lack of ability. The hotel is poorly run, fares too high for the accommodation quality. It definitely looks more a 3 stars hotel in its decay. I'd rather choose the Mariott Riviera if I were you.
Maybe it was a shiny 5 stars hotel.. In the 70's. Nowadays it looks like it has run out of charm.. Expecially the toilets! During our dinner I saw a manager, probably the director, arguing with a member of the stuff very rudely. Not exactly what I'm expecting to see in a luxury hotel, if you're not managing to control your anger at least don't show it off to your clients paying 800 Euros for a room! After all a very deceiving experience. The friend staying with me, suggested me the title to this review that I hope will let you chose a better hotel!

We loved it. Year after year, this kind of places disappears. Soon La Voile d'Or will close for total refurbishment. So make sure you spend one night or more here for the record. I am sure it will be replaced by another wonderful hotel though. The view is like no other.

Hotel closed - we wanted to stay here, and the hotel is still advertising availability. but it is closed and boarded up. Not sure what would happen if a booking was made and paid for, but definitely not available! Other hotels are nearby and offer views over bay.

A delicious experience spending the day at the hotel beach and enjoying the great food and drinks.
The service and environment are great.
It is a must do while in Saint Jean Cap Ferrat, I hope after the upcoming renovations it will be as good as it is now.

Upon deciding on a holiday in the South of France, we chose La Voile d'or after having read a few positive reviews, checking out the hotel's website and receiving their brochure.

Being well seasoned travellers used to staying at 4 and 5-star properties, we were sorely disappointed in what was to follow our arrival at La Voile d'or. We were met by a courteous valet who collected our luggage and parked our car and after brief check-in formalities, we were shown to our room, described in our letter of confirmation as a double room overlooking the hotel's beautiful garden, for 365 euros a night. Imagine our surprise then when what we encountered was a small, sunlight-deprived room only slightly larger than the bed it contained and overlooking, not a lovely garden, but rather a paved driveway and a single tree (unless one looked out the window of the bathroom to a view of what appeared to be one of the hotel's air-condioning units). We said there must be some sort of mistake, but were assured that this was, in fact, the room. Shocked, I said, there is no 'garden view' as described in the confirmation letter, which I had in my hand, that's, pointing out the window, a driveway and ONE TREE. No reply from the hotel employee standing before us. We asked if there was another room available. After being made to wait in this dark little room for about 10 minutes, the porter returned to lead us to another room, somewhat nicer, with the benefit of having a small balcony overlooking part of the town and the boat marina and, if one craned one's neck, a sliver of the blue Mediterranean beyond. Fine, we said, we'd take it and were immediately told the rate would be 600 euros a night (no meals included).

After sorting out luggage to this new room, we headed to one of the hotel's pools (it has two). Settling in chaises overlooking the sea, we were quickly told by the pool's waitress that we'd have to "settle in cash" for our drinks (two sodas), being told that she couldn't find us in her room registration log. I went to the pool's house phone and managed to sort this out with reception. There apparently was some confusion because we'd changed rooms.

Later that day, we used the computer that was available for guests' use in the hotel's lounge, for about 10 minutes, to check our e-mail. For this privilege, we were charged, without being informed, 30 euros. Not feeling good about the vibe of the hotel and its staff, we decided to stay the night and then look for accommodation elsewhere the next day.

Knowing that friends had stayed at the nearby Grand Hotel du Cap Ferrat, we headed there, were warmly welcomed and were shown to a lovely room actually looking towards a bona fide garden. We would eagerly return to the Grand Hotel, where the staff was accommodating, courteous and ready to assist with any enquiry. However, La Voile d'or will certainly not be welcoming us, or any of our friends, again, given the overall poor attitude of the staff, where any inquiry is made to seem an imposition. Beautiful setting, however that alone does not make for a good hotel, which we quickly found out.
