It was the only bed available in otherwise completely booked out Chamonix and I was glad that they accommodated me without prior booking, just by turning on their doorstep. Probably the cheapest accommodation in Chamonix. No private rooms, just dormitories with bunk beds for 4 people (I was in). Living areas have just very basic furnishing. Nice: Plenty of toilets.... for the price that we paid, it was everything ok. 4 beds dorm are a very good option. Kitchen it is well equipated and showers are clean. It is just about 800m from Chamonix centre and a easy walk to there, I will visit them again on my next visit to chamonix.

I chose this hostel as I wanted to leave some belongings in Chamonix while I hiked the Tour du Mont Blanc. (I paid €3 per day, though it depends on size & weight.) It was rather cramped but the facilities were adequate, the staff were efficient, plus it was good to get breakfast before setting off early the next day.... More

We have been happy to receive you and we hope your Tour du Mont-Blanc was fantastic. Our house has been built in 1929 and that explains its authenticity. More

I stayed here in a 4 bed dorm the night before and the night after the TMB hike. The owner is lovely and she is very helpful. Obviously if you ask the same stupid question over and over again expecting a different answer, she would probably get annoyed and grumpy - as would anyone! She gave us heaps of information... More

Thank you to have taken time to describe our gite. As usual, we tried always to be helpflul and friendly with everybody in our house built in 1929, authentic mountain-refuge. We are looking to improve wi-fi. More

I took an upper secondary school group to Chamonix as part of a Physics/Geography/Geology road trip. M. Mangin is fully aware of the needs of school groups and made good arrangements for staff and students. The bunkhouse accommodation is basic but good value with a good breakfast - all part of the experience of being in Chamonix. Service was good... More

Probably one of the cheapest hostels I stayed during my Europe traveling which was great seeing as the town was a tad expensive. However, the place did have its quirks. One of my favourites was the 10 second shower button that would provide a different water temperature each time you pushed it. Leaving you in suspense with each push. The... More

What you call "quirk" is for other guests "authentic" because our house was built in 1929. The problem which happened to you with shower button is unusual. For wifi problem, we are looking for a better solution. More

First off the staff are great. They may come across to many as not very friendly (read in other reviews) but they were always happy to assist and helped beyond what would be necessary. So thank you! The price is fantastic, so you must go in with the necessary expectations. The building is quaint and has its quirks. My personal... More

Thank you so much for all your kindness. During crowded season, it is sometimes difficult to maintain a "fresh" atmosphere but we tried to do always all our best. For the wifi problem, it is due to the large walls we have. We are looking for a better solution. More

The dorm room was clean, but bring your own sheets or sleeping bags. There was a locker in the room, but it was locked. When we went to the front desk to unlock it, she said we were the only ones staying in that room, which had a passcode, so our stuff would be safe. This was not really reassuring,... More

While the stay was cheap, so was the experience. The place is old and has a certain historical charm, but the facilities are run down. The kitchen is an antiquity to behold, showing off with an old gas-fired stoves and cutlery from the late 1980s (speculating here). The availability of watered-down dish soap squirting violently from a wall tap leaves... More

As show of it the most favorable comments, our conditions of welcome are not always the ones that you describe. It depends on several factors and on the type of customers whom we receive. Our kitchen is cleaned every day before noon but cannot be 24 hours a day. The problem you got with the dish soap is not usual.... More

There are personal lockers free of charge in each room, making it very easy to store things safely while out hitting the slopes. The hostel is 30 seconds from a shuttle stop that will take you into town, or out to a couple different ski areas. It is also easy to walk into town (10-15 minutes). Breakfast is included with...
