This hotel is really special. It has that feeling your are on cloud nine. 'Walls' of green- the view- the trees- from your room which are topped by snow capped mountains, the gardens - the extensive gardens from where the hotel sources its ingredients for their absolutely superb dinners..... The list is endless. The complimentary bikes, which we took advantage...

I loved my stay at Auberge Du Bois Prin, but what I’ll remember for years is the food. Yes, this is not a place for glamorous, over-the-top nouveau riche extravaganza. It is kind of down to earth. Basic. But everything is done just right. There’s a focus on quality everywhere. And then there’s the kitchen, it is to dream of.

In my 30 years of travel I now find out that where I choose a hotel on its stars rating, well 5 stars are after all not a guarantee of quality or luxury. Makes me wonder how rating is allocated, based on this hotel where nothing reflects 5 stars. 1) has not had a touch of freshing up in a...

After deciding to stop in Chamonix for the night on the way to Geneva from Italy, we searched booking.com and decided to "splurge" a little on Auberge du Bois Prin. It is a small guest house... Just 12 rooms. Our junior suite was a corner room with full views of Mont Blanc and a balcony. A fruit bowl and even...

This place does not change. I visited it in 2004 and again a few days ago, and the stay remains as pleasant as ever. Old furniture, old style service but squeaky floors and stairs leave an impression of peace and tranquillity. This is not a modern hotel. The staff is pleasant and helpful, the owner too. The rooms have magnificent...

I love this hotel. It is totally authentic. It's perched above town and the valley affording spectacular views, but an easy walk into the center of town. The rooms have a comfortable, soft, lodge-type feel. But the best of this hotel is the restaurant. The food is spectacular. Most of the produce comes directly from the hotel's garden and they...

This hotel is indeed very charming, it has an authentic Alpine feel and has a sprawling garden that includes a vegetable patch. That said, we had a few issues with our stay. Firstly, our room was strictly short-term corporate apartment-like. Small beds, totally devoid of character. Secondly, the breakfast was (for the cost) sub-par. By way of reference, we stayed...
