Excellent location in a residential area, ideal for us visiting our granddaughter who is studying in Heidelberg. The Staff, service, friendliness and cleanliness was very good, as was the airconditioned room. Buffet breakfast, not included in room rate, had a good choice of food and a relatively modest price restaurant menu as well. Public transport, Tram, is just a few minutes walk from the hotel. However, the journey to the centre takes 10/15 minutes so not ideal for business travellers without a car. I can't comment on English being spoken as was mentioned in some reviews, as we didn't need to use it. Hotel only has payable private parking 🅿 but street parking outside the hotel is fine , our car was parked in the same place for 4 days, no problem. No hesitation in staying here again on our next visit to Heidelberg. There are NO Covid or sanitary restrictions at the hotel at this time.

I did a short notice booking, so the late cancellation refund option on Booking.com was not available. Therefore I fully accept I had to take the 'No Refund' option, as it was the only one really available at this hotel. Flights and car hire were also booked. Then 48 hours before departure I discovered that the German Government had put Covid-19 restrictions on travel from Spain, which were impossible for me to meet at such a short notice for a three day stay in Germany, so I was forced to cancel the trip, but I gave them upwards of 48 hours notice. I wrote explaining what happened through Booking.com and also wrote a separate mail direct to the hotel as well as phoning them. Booking, com also requested if an amended refund fee could be applied because it was due to Covid and German Government policy. I stated that I fully expected to pay some kind of cancellation fee, but not the approximately 400 euros price of the booking. What really got to me was that the hotel management did not even reply to my mail or to Booking.com, which is a little off putting. So be careful if you have to cancel due to Covid. They appear not to make any allowances for anything, including a pandemic, unlike the hotel I had booked in Frankfurt for the day before. Looking at other reviews, it seems that customer service is not high on their list of priorities.

Thank you for your feedback. If you book via a travel agency like Booking.com we simply follow the given terms and conditions of that agent and if you made a discounted booking without the option to cancel on short notice, then please don't blame us if you actually cannot cancel. The flexible rate is always available until the last room is booked. You had the choice and problems caused by the pandemic were not surprising at that time.

We stayed with my family over two nights and from the moment we stepped in we were greeted with a long face. Nobody speaks english or even the basic, nothing is provided in terms of information. When we asked a very angry lady if they have any guides she said to me only in german. This is clearly a pass -through motel for local people with the very basic facilities. We had a disabled room with a high toilet seat and a flat surface floor for a shower which meant all the water run out. (We are not disabled.)The sheets were damp and the mattress very hard. There was no coffee or tea facilities not even a kettle in the room. For a 4 * claiming hotel this is not right. The breakfast is 14 euros and very average - not worth it. They charge you for a simple half a cup of coffee too. Nobody cares about customer service. The parking is expensive and if you want to leave it outside there are road works and the hotel is situated opposite a building site so the rooms are facing road and diggers and excavators but the windows are quite good in terms of insulation, still its not quiet. We had asked for a quiet room and they didn't seem to care. The ladies at the reception were particularly not bothered and they only spent time talking to those in German. We scratched our car coming out of the tiny narrow turn that is called the entrance to the back garden with space for 4 cars. To top it all, the place is in the middle of a not so good residential area and to go into the town you need 20 minutes by tram at a cost of 12 euros each time. Heidelberg was our last stop after a 10 beautiful city tour of Europe and we must say it is a very unwelcoming place especially to english speaking tourists. No books or tourist maps or anything in English so if you want to learn the history of the castle you'll have to buy German or Japanese books. Overall, I'd avoid going there as a stopover and would choose a better hotel and a better, friendlier place as a pass through. Ps. and they don't really clean your room, they just fluff about your duvet and pillows. They didn't even say goodbye to us and we were all polite, but they didn't even reply.

These guests had booked a regular double room for 2 adults and no kids. In fact they were 2 adults and 2 kids of 3 and 6 years and they refused to upgrade to a suitable room for 4 as well as they did not want to pay a surcharge for the kids which were not part of the booking and therefore not included in the rate they had booked. We insisted on a small surcharge per child before we let them check-in to the room that was meant for 2 people only. Unfortunately, the guests try to harm us with the above rating. Statements, such as that our staff would not speak English at all, or that there were only 4 parking places etc are obviously untrue. All other points are very exaggerated and distorted or misrepresented to make our hotel look as poor as possible. Our hotel is one of only very few officially rated 4-star hotels, which receives very good reviews from honest guests!

The hotel is roughly a 10-minute drive from central Heidelberg. For those with a car, it's a good location to stay for less money with parking. There is a very good bakery about 2-minutes driving from the hotel so we ate there for breakfast. The room is good-sized, modernly furnished, comfortable with a large TV. All windows must be shut for the AC to work. However, the AC simply wouldn't turn on. We asked the receptionist who told us it should come on after a while. I suspect the entire hotel's AC might not be working because we saw next door's occupants had their windows open as well. As a result, we had to keep our windows open all night. Fortunately, it had just rain buckets so mosquitoes were not an issue. On that note alone, a good hotel became a poor hotel.

Thank you for your feedback. You were waiting for the noise of an airconditioning as you are used to. The way we cool the rooms does not make any noise and we are proud of that. Especially german guests are very sensitive about noise and airflow, which is not acceptable in our vision of a feelgood hotel. What really matters is that the rooms are can be kept on a comfortable temperature of down to 20°C, but that is too cold to be comfortable for most guests already. We are an environmentally friendly, energy efficient hotel. If the balcony door is opened heating and cooling is disabled. You could have had a great stay if you had just kept the balcony door closed - believe it or not....

The parking in the rear was a little confusing, and the card key to get back there was hit and miss, but there was always someone to help make it work. Breakfast is not included, but there is a McDonald's nearby. It's very close to the highway.

This hotel has quality and clean rooms. There is TV(with internet) on rooms. Personels are very kind. It is far from city center. If you have a car you should stay this hotel. And you are parking in front hotel(free). Bed size is little small :(

THANK YOU FOR YOUR REVIEW AND YOUR RECOMMENDATION. Only the the very cheap room types have the queen size bed. Better book a larger room type with king size bed next time. We are looking forward to take your next booking and to advise you.

This was an out of town hotel in a residential neighbourhood. Good for parking but quite a distance from the centre of Heidelberg and the trams were replaced by buses as the tracks were being replaced. Not their fault. The room was nice, but quite small with a little balcony and a very nice bathroom. There was no facility to make coffee or tea in the room and there was not iron or trouser press either. In order to iron clothes I was escorted to the laundry room in the hotel to use the one and only iron and ironing board they had! There are no cafes or restaurants close to have a coffee or breakfast and breakfast was not included in the room price. We did not have breakfast there as we were out each day early. We used the restaurant on our first evening and it was o.k. but neither the menu or the food were exciting. Our waitress Sabina was really friendly and helpful and spoke perfect English. Would we stay there again? No.

Thank you for staying with us. The distance from our hotel to the Heidelberg Central Station is 2,5 km and the start of the Heidelberg Old Town and pedestrian area is 4,5 km apart. (The Old Town of Heidelberg is 2 km long itself!) Is that really far? In large cities around the world a distance of 4,5km is almost around the block!?? It is true that ironing in the rooms is not allowed for fire safety. We offer a special room with all it takes for our guest and - be sure - we do have another iron for our staff in the hotel's laundry where all bed linen, towels and tablecloths are washed. Our hotel offers a full-service restaurant with patio and bar. How can you write that there were no cafes or restaurants to have breakfast!? There are also other bakeries and restaurants nearby, but not just accross the street. You can have breakfast in one of the bakeries as well, but you pay more for a comparable choice then with us and get less service! You booked a cheap and small room and got a cheap and small room. We have large and more comfortable rooms as well. We'd be happy to recommend the right room type for your next stay to you if you are interested.

Let me first get the good bits out of the way. The Hotel Rooms are lovely, spacious with nice bathrooms and very clean. The staff were generally very helpful and spoke English. The breakfast was not included in our cost and costs 10 Euros per person extra, I would say you would have to take the breakfast as there are no cafes in the close proximity to the hotel. The breakfast was good. There are also no restaurants close by for a main meal, although the hotel does have a restaurant. We did not use it so I cannot comment, we chose to eat in town. Before going further I should explain that we are an older couple. The hotel is in a residential area about 15 minutes bus ride into town (note, the trams are not currently operating, whilst they are renewing the tracks). The MAIN hotel building is 2 min walk from the bus stop. So getting into town normally is not a problem. We made our booking for the hotel through BOOKING.COM and found we were in what is known as the annex. Now one would normally expect this to be close by the main building. It is not! For us it was an extra 8 minutes’ walk from the main hotel and further away from the bus stop. It was in what used to be a residential apartment complex. As stated the rooms were very good, but there were no amenities at the block, not even a kettle in the room to brew a tea or coffee, and no bar or restaurant. There is one local bar round the corner and a small shop (the shop was shut at the time), but we did not use these as they were not to our taste. It seems upon enquiry it is where you are put if you book through booking agents. Adding insult to injury, the following morning the water was off in the complex and we could not get a shower. We were given a room in main hotel to get a shower. Not necessarily the hotels fault as it appeared to be a local problem, but just added to our discomfort. Would I use the hotel again, yes, but only if given a room in the main hotel.

Thank you for your stay in our guesthouse and for your review. You booked a room in our guesthouse an the address of the guesthouse was given as location. Everything else that you wrote about the location of the guesthouse was not new to you if you read the information on Booking.com. The hotel descriptions on booking.com are made by booking.com with only little influence from our side. It is even changed by booking.com without notifying us. Of course it is more comfortable in our main building, but also not so cheap as in our guesthouse. If you are coming to Heidelberg again, please contact us and we'll recommend the right room type to you.
