Located in the centre of town, this hotel/restaurant offers a variety of typical Bavarian food. I personally recommend "Schweinebraten with Kartoffelknoedel"; particularly the dumplings go very well with the rather heavy roasted pork. They are made of pre-boiled potatoes and filled with little chunks of roasted white bread. The dish comes with Sauerkraut or - in autumn/winter - red cabbage....

Located on a beautiful street in the quaint, authentic village of Mittenwald. Upon arrival the tourist office was surprised I was traveling alone and had come across Mittenwald, informing me "there is really not much going on here". Yet the location was absolutely beautiful, engulfed in mountains, took a beautiful hike up to Lake Lautersee, walked around to see the...

We spent two nights in the Hotel Alpenrose where we really felt comfortable. The location is just in the middle of the beautiful town of Mittenwald. Easy to reach mountains and just enjoy the nice feeling of being surrounded by the old, beautiful buildings..

This hotel will make you feel like a genuine Alpinist. It fronts the main street and its rear faces a fantastic mountain scene. The stairs creak. The antlers on the wall will make you think of Young Frankenstein (no Frau Blucher, however!). The staff is friendly and speaks English very well. Accommodations are cozy, meaning the rooms and beds are...

Thank you, TripAdvisor! Once again, we relied on your reviews and landed a winner! Hotel Alpenrose exceeded our expectations by providing an authentic Bavarian experience in storybook Mittenwald. This is a small hotel...just 18 rooms, as far as we could tell. We spent four nights in Room 18 September 15 - 19 during the Almabtrieb & Almfest (the cows' homecoming)....

We used this hotel as our base of travel to explore the surrounding Bavarian sites and were so glad we did. Mittenwald is a total Bavarian delight with spectacular mountain views, quaint streets, a lovely church (in which we attended an organ concert and Sunday mass that was packed out) and a real authentic feel that puts you in another...

Hotel Alpenrose was an ideal overnight in the charming town of Mittenwald. The location was great as it is on the incredibly charming main street. It is walking distance to a great hike at the nearby Leutaschklamm gorge (you can hike into Austria). Our room was basic, clean, and comfortable. We also enjoyed the food at the restaurant, and breakfast...

We had a little trouble finding the parking area for the hotel, although it is marked, We were on the 3rd floor (no lift) overlooking the main street. The hotel has no AC, so leaving the windows open is a must in warm weather. Friday nite was very busy in town, and it was very noisy on the street, went...

Charming hotel in beautiful Mittenwald. The room was comfortable and clean and the en-suite bathroom was lovely with a large shower cubicle. I would have liked a blind or curtain to cover the bathroom window though as I did feel a bit exposed. The food in the restaurant was very good and it had a traditional feel. There was free...

A very picturesque hotel in a stunning village. So clean and beautiful with endless frescos and flowers. The only negatives were that the church bells (only 10metres away) chimed all through the night - very loud! Food good, room clean, staff helpful- would go again but with ear plugs. NB no lift and has a spiral staircase between floors one...
