We had a three-night stay here around the easter holiday. The apartment inside was perfect. Two bedrooms, a workable kitchen and a fair amount of living space. This would be great for a family of 3-4. Location was ok — not as close as other hotels but an easy walk to the center. A friendly owner as well. Other than that, the property doesn't offer much. The fitness room, sauna and playground are bare bones. If you want a lot of amenities, you could find better. But the actual apartments are really great if you don't need anything in excess.

We stayed here during Oktoberfest, so we wouldn't have to pay an arm & a leg to stay in Munich. Once we got there we were confused at where the office was. After looking around for 5+ minutes we finally found it. We wanted to stay somewhere close to the train station, and this place couldn't have been any closer. It was across the street (along with a Lidl). It was clean, modern, and a great price!

We stayed at Alte Postvilla for 5 nights in a 4 bed rooms Chalet. The appartments are good and clean and facing several small supermarkets. The owners are very receptive and helpful. Our check inn and out went very smooth with great trust. The appartment is equiped with all your needs including a kitchen and free WIFI. We enjoyed our stay and we wish to come back again.
Obermmergau town is a good place to stay. It is in the middle of most sight seeing areas and it has some shooping boutiques and supermarkets infront of Alte Postvilla. You may enjoy site seing even walking around the town or riding a bicycle.

Firstly, the photo IS NOT of the Alte Postvilla. We spent 45 minutes, in the cold, pouring rain looking for the hotel that is depicted in this photo. Instead, we found a large, dark and looking abandoned, building with a small wooden sign leaned against it.
When we finally found the "entrance " door, we very cautiously entered to find a dark, empty area. There were no lights. No receptionist. No people. It was very spooky and ominous. We contacted our agent in Canada.
Using our flashlight, we observed a paper on the small, cluttered desk. It had our names listed. We stated yelling "Hello; anybody here?" several times. Finally, a man came down the dark hall and a motion light finally came on. The man stated that nobody was there, it's an apartment building and that we had to call the number to have someone come.
I called 2 numbers which were not in service. I finally Googled the "establishment " and called the number that I found on a booking site.
20 minutes later, a woman arrived. The apartment was clean but very musty smelling. The bedroom window opened onto the entrance. I couldn't sleep because it felt like we had entered the Bates motel.
Breakfast included? Sure...a bag with 4 rolls was hung on our door each morning at 7:30 and a package of cheese slices and salami were in the refrigerator. Not even a small soap or shampoo.
I would never recommend this place.

We stayed at the Alte Postvilla with our family in July. First, what was good about it. It was clean and spacious, and decently located near a market and not too far from the central part of town. Also, there was plenty of parking. However, we feel like travelers should know that this is not a hotel nor a resort, as it is advertised on several travel booking sites. This is an older, renovated apartment building with individual apartments. There is no shared public space, the 'sauna' and 'fitness facilities' are an idea the owner apparently has which is under construction but not usable, the BBQ area is part of the parking lot, and there is no reception desk. One of the most frustrating aspects of this stay was the lack of internet access. We were there for work and leisure, and my husband and I were forced to sit in the hallways to access the internet, and even that was remarkably slow. The owner said, "Well when many people are using, it slows down," and carried on his way past us sitting on the floor in the hallway, which he apparently did not find to be a problem in any way. There were not enough people in the building to make it that slow, and it was consistently and uniformly unusable.

In summary, if you are looking for a basic and clean apartment for your stay, this will fit the bill. But for anything a little more special or for access to modern technology that works, go elsewhere. And finally, it is way overpriced for what you get and for value, you can do better elsewhere.

We arrived at Oberammergau in April and it was nice and pretty but you somehow just immediately got the impression that you were missing out on the snow. The whole village was designed for it. But it was a lovely village to see and while driving through it we did not see our apartment. Just when we almost drove out of Oberammergau we saw it on the outskirts and that was about the only thing wrong with this apartment, it’s location and appearance. It was not located in the old town village but opposite of supermarkets and garden centres close to the train station. And despite the building being in good shape, the garden, parking and just the general appearance from the outside looked gloomy (rainy weather probably did not help much). And with the village not looking so inviting it just did could not attract us. And a price of 130 euro a night made us decide that one night was more than enough instead of the booked 2 nights. The owner also owns an electrical repair and the interior of the apartment was just tip-top, but after dinner we got bored, of the village, of the view, of the weather and went to Italy ahead of schedule. A score of 3 will do, probably no recommendation from me this time.

After coming from the A&O in Munich, this apartment (No. 12) felt like pure heaven, especially with two small children in tow. It is spacious, bright, has two balconies, a full kitchen with just about anything you would need, beautiful views of the mountain and is not over-looked by other buildings. We arrived later than expected and the owner was out, but he left us a very clear note telling us how to get to our apartment.

Alte Postvilla is directly across the road from two grocery stores and a pharmacy, and is just down the road from the petrol/gas station...which is handy when you arrive Saturday night and all the grocery stores are closed on the Sunday...because it has a bread counter, etc. Although on the edge of the town, it is only a very short walk to the centre (less than five minutes).

There is a basic play area with a slide, a swing, and a trapeze. It has kept my six-year-old busy for a little while, on and off.

Our apartment has wifi included, but I believe that other types of apartments do not.

We would definitely stay here, again.

Admittedly I was a bit apprehensive of what to expect after reading some previous reviews online however I really had NO reason to be!!! We were extremely happy with our apartment it was more than spacious for our family of four, it was very modern, comfortable and quiet and had everything we could have needed for the weekend.

The noise on the stairs and landing could be at times loud (but not disturbing ) however once guests were in their rooms we never heard anything which we hope was the same for us as we had to small boisterous boys!!!

Parking was free and safe. It was very convenient with the Supermarkets and delious bakery across the road. Oberammergau town centre was a few minutes walk from the apartment. The views of the surrounding mountains were breath taking.... And there were sites to be seen in abundance, so Alt Postvilla did not disappoint as a place to rest our feet and heads, after a day of site seeing!!!!

Plus a sweet gesture of the Easter Bunny stopped and left a bag of Easter chocolates at our door Easter morning .. a big thanks from my 5 year old he was well delighted!!!

I have been here several times. Appartments are next to the trainstation and the bus for the nato school stops every morning at the station. On the other side of the road are several big supermarkets where you can get everything. The owner is friendly and helpful. Appartments are clean and spacy.

Oberammagau is worth a visit. We walked to Ettal along the river - lovely. In the afternoon we drove to Linderhoff Palace - well worth a visit.
The furniture was very dated in apartment - way over priced compared to other higher standard places in Bavaria
