We visited here a week before Christmas and the town was sleepy, with some recommended restaurants closed so we had to look for an alternative. We found Hafner Stub’n and had a GREAT meal. We ordered pretzel (it was okay), potato soup (very good), and sauerkraut soup (amazing!). I ordered beef with a potato dumpling red cabbage. It was all delicious. We were fortunate enough to make it before a rush of folks with reservations came in, so check ahead if you want to secure a table.

Some of the nicest food I have ever eaten a definite visit every year we come. One of the best restaurants in Germany. Lovely food and lovely service. Everyone is so welcoming and friendly. Every time we have come in they have greeted us with smiles and been very welcoming. As a family we have a limited amount of German between us, if we have chosen to try to speak German they have always been patient and every single time had a laugh and a joke with every family member. This year we went for Christmas and it had a lovely family feel. The food on Christmas was a five course and we found food that we would never usually have to be something we would definitely have again. (Pictures above)

We stayed here as part of a group holiday, with our main purpose being the Passion Play.

The hotel is around 250 m from the theatre and thus is perfectly located.

Our room was excellent, offering everything we needed. Breakfast was good (the only issue being that due to the layout of the hotel, food is served in a different part of the hotel, thus you have to carry your food to tables some 10/15 m away across reception).

Dear Stu151 Thank you for visiting the Passion Play and for your good review We are delighted that we are the perfect place for you to visit the passion play. However, as we want to offer an extensive breakfast buffet, we are unable to find an even better space for the buffet due to the nature of the 200 year old building. With sunny greetings

We visited the hotel restaurant whilst visiting Oberammergau. We were made to feel awkward initially as we asked if we could visit for a drink. However, having enjoyed a good cold beer and watching the food coming out and mostly empty plates going back we asked for the menu. Massive attitude change. The food was good and the staff then more attentive. Be careful what you ask for!

I'm surprised to find so many complaints here -- I found the service friendly, the rooms clean (ours was freshly renovated and had a gorgeous view of the mountains), the dog training facilities super-convenient (three fully-equipped halls), and the food delicious. Yes, it is by a busy street corner, but I found it quiet enough at night to sleep with the window open. Definitely recommended for dog lovers!

Stayed here in route to Africa while doing some sight seeing in Bavaria. The hotel was nice enough. The room was small but comfortable. Nice little built in table in the window dormer.

The only problem was that the room accross from us and next to us had dogs in them that barked through the night.

NOT A PLACE FOR PEOPLE WHO DON'T LIKE DOGS!

We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Wolf. One caution, this hotel welcomes (more like encourages) dogs. Our room had a food and water dish in the room. In the lobby, dog beds were available for use in the rooms. There was a large selection of dog toys, snacks, leashes, etc that were available for purchase.

The hotel was convenient to "downtown" Oberamergau including the train station.

Our room had a built in booth-style table with a view of the mountains. The room was small, but comfortable.

We would definitiely stay again!

Just plain good Bavarian food in a really nice looking and feeling restaurant with friendly and prompt service. Family of five, ordered five mains only as that is more than enough with wine and four beers came to 105 Euros. Very highly recommended.

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights with our whippet dog. My husband was working at the NATO school and I tagged along. This hotel was a great choice for us, as our dog was truly made welcome. Usually in hotels we feel uncomfortable with our dog and feel that she must not be seen or heard. But here many people had a dog under their table at meal time and there were dog beds to borrow and dog toys to buy. Most of the dogs seemed to be on courses run by the hotel at a nearby facility. So the dogs that we saw there were well cared for and well-trained. There were no dog toilet facilities at the hotel but there was a river bank 3 minutes walk away where the owners let their dogs off the lead.

The room was old-fashioned (as are most hotel rooms in Germany) but clean. There was no evidence of any dogs having been in our room previously. The floors were wooden, the TV was flat screen, there were plenty of hangers, the bed was firm and comfortable, the bedding (duvet) was clean and comfortable and the bathroom was spacious. Only negative points about the room are that the shower was very under-powered, there was only 1 pillow each and there was no tea/coffee making facilities (however there is a coffee shop across the road!)

Being in the towns main street was very convenient but we paid the price in that it was very noisy late into the evening, especially on Saturday. But this was made worse by the fact that it was very hot, and being that there was no air conditioning, we had to keep the windows open all night.

Breakfast buffet was included and was good - a mixture of cold meats, bread, croissants, scambled eggs and bacon, cereal etc. The staff were all very friendly and pleasant.

We will definately use this hotel again and I recommend it to anyone with a dog - just remember to bring ear plugs, a pillow (if you like more than 1) and a kettle.

We were on a Trafalgar tour for the Passion Play and stayed here for two nights. No AC, but the weather was pleasant. The bathroom had only a shower and was small. We are dog people so to see the many displays of past events was very interesting. I think it's similar to the AKC utility events. Seems like this hotel is a favorite place for the contestants. Our room overlooked the main street and had a wonderful view of the mountains. Our meals were included and the food was great for such a small hotel. The hotel sits on a corner and the other street has many shops. There's a store there with about 50 or more cuckoo clocks. Although we loved the hotel the cost for staying here was very expensive. So low marks on value. We had great seats at the Play through Trafalgar (3rd row, center) so the package price may have been fair.

"If you are worried about street noise ask for a room in the extra house behind the hotel. Also this is next to the pool if that is important."
