Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a very neat and clean hotel. It is situated about 15 mins walk from the village centre. When the restaurant was busy, the staff were not up to it. Seemed to struggle to be organised. Beware this is a hotel which does not provide free tap water at the table.

Breakfast was great, and the rooms were comparable to other places in town. The location to the NATO School and downtown restaurants was ideal… 10-15 minute walk either way. The NATO School bus from the Munich airport drops you off right at the door. My two negative criticisms was that the restaurant was only open for breakfast, and that the spa was not open the majority of the time. If it was open, it was only open from 5-7 o’clock.

I stayed here 2 nights this September. The building itself is a traditional style Bavarian hotel, with lots of wood and flower boxes. Rooms are small but nicely furnished, and most seem to have decent balconies with pretty rural views. The hotel is a 20 minute walk into the centre of the village and therefore not very convenient, though car parking is not a problem. Food is traditional German, heavy fare, with lots of meat. Excellent breakfasts. While the hotel is pleasant enough, the staff are brusque, bordering on rudeness, and show no care or interest in the welfare of guests. Only one young man ( Michael, I think) did his best to make things acceptable. Otherwise, staff attitudes were unacceptable....shades of Basil Fawlty!!! I could never recommend a stay here for this reason.

This hotel is a gem and it looks even better inside. The owner was very accommodating despite the fact that we were traveling during the pandemic for work, and the staff made our stay very pleasant. Very impressed with the room, the food, and the customer service. Will definitely return. Highly recommend this place.

3 of us travelled to Oberammergau for the Passion play and the Arnika was our assigned hotel. Really warm welcome when we arrived, rooms were comfortable and spotless. Beautiful views from our wee balconies. A very peaceful part of the town so it was really relaxing.

The food was delicious. A really varied breakfast, hot and cold buffet; yogurt, cheese, cold meats, fresh fruit, bacon, eggs, etc. Our evening meals were again delicious with a good choice on the menu.

It's a wonderful place to stay!!

Cozy boutique hotel with beautiful Mountain Views. Great food. Breakfast had lots of choices. Exceptionally clean. Wonderful soft beds, nice pillows. Staff was very attentive. Walking Pathway behind hotel follows small stream into the center of the village.

We were placed in this hotel with our tour bus group for the Passion Play. It was modern, plenty of room, and clean. The breakfast and dinner were delicious. The area offers so many walking/biking trails. I would definitely love to stay here again.

Oberammergau is a small town. Hotel is quaint and cozy. overlooking mountain ranges, farms and local village. Bathroom very functional, clean and well maintained. Breakfast selection was very good. Top quality selection including salmon, good bread and choice of beverages. Dining room well maintained and food service good.

I stayed here with my husband for two weeks. What an awful experience. I had heard such great things of Oberammergau, and was hoping for a wonderful vacation. I am british and my husband is american. I used to laugh when people have said the problem with some countries are the people that live there, however in this case I would have to agree. We started off in the Hotel Arnika and had booked two weeks with them. The woman that runs that place is not stable, she was utterly rude from the off set. When we enquired as to why we were not eligible for the same discounts that german visitors were recieving, she bluntly told us that if you are german you get a better deal!!! We couldn't believe it, we were paying on average 40% more than the german visitors. She is also very rude and had been rather mean to other guests well before anyone had asked her why prices seemed to change from booking to paying. The woman that owns Arnika actually chased one of the guests down the ski slope in Oberammergau in order to have it out with her for leaving early, where the poor woman broke her leg after hitting a tree. The owner of Arnika merely laughed and carried on, leaving the other woman in a very serious way. Trying to get away from Hotel Arnika resembles the great escape!!! IF YOU VALUE YOUR LIFE, DO NOT STAY AT HOTEL ARNIKA!!!

I am a married man and devoted father. One of the older ladies that works at the Hotel Arnika placed me in a rather difficult situation. In front of my colleagues, she made advances. I don't really know what else to say.

If you are looking for a brothel....arnika is the place for you I guess.
