We stayed here as part of our package to see the Passion Play. We were assigned a loft room with a balcony, which was very spacious. There is an elevator to the top level. Meals supplied were basic, but tasty. The breakfast buffet even had pretzels! The minibar wine in the room was very reasonably priced. Any drinks you have with other meals are paid for at the end of the meal, not added to your tab. There is not much English spoken by the staff, but we managed with a few German words. The hotel is clean and is an easy walk to the Passion Play site. There is parking on site around the back.

Very convenient if you are planning to go to NATO School - 15 min walking. It is also the first stop if you take the shuttle from NATO - 5 min by bus. Nice breakfast. Small gym and sauna. 5/10 min walking to city center. 15 min walk to the train station and to supermarkets - LIDL.

I will admit I was quite apprehensive about our forthcoming stay at The Feldmeier - reviews are very mixed. Actually we found it to be perfect for our stay in Oberammergau. Our room was spotlessly clean, plenty of space and very quiet (we were in the annex).

I do think we become quite sanitised about what we expect from travelling - this was a three star hotel and yes, the owners didn’t have much English but doesn’t that add a charm and challenge to travelling? They are certainly different to many hoteliers I have experienced before but that doesn’t make it a bad thing.

Food was plentiful if basic. Dinner was four courses each evening.

For what we paid, the location and cleanliness I thought this was just right for our walking holiday.

I stayed almost two weeks at this Hotel. The room is nice enough, big and cleand. So no complaints about that. It is like the pictures. The breakfast is not worth a penny, so I barely bothered to eat it, even though it was paid. The Internet connection is poor, both through the 4G network and through the wifi. However, the worst part is the service.
I arrived late, and informed about this advance to arrival. And still they complained when I checked in. Bad start. I tried to use the spa area, but they informed it was closed, and kicked me out. Even though it was one hour left according to the opening hours. I also got yelled at one afternoon, because they blamed me for some noise the day before. I was sleeping at the time they accused. A less polite, serviceminded and friendly hostess you should search long for. I have travelled a lot, and never experienced this behaviour from the hotel management. They clearly do not value their guests, and I will for sure not come back.

Our family stay in Landhaus Feldmeier was a total NIGHTMARE. The description in booking.com was far from the actual situation that we encountered in the hotel. Despite the booking listing description the hotel DOES NOT provide a private parking. We had to drive around nearby roads to find a parking space. When we asked about parking space they told us that they could not guarantee a parking space and if we wanted, we could park in the owners private parking for an additional fee which was totally unprofessional.

The wifi was only available in a desk outside our room by the reception. We asked about in room wifi coverage and they provide us with one (1) account that only one person could use ! Of course the booking.com listing description does not mention ANYWHERE something about that.

Staff of the hotel was not at all friendly. The private parking was not available, the wifi was only available at a desk by the reception and if you wanted to use the wifi in your room, it was only available to one (1) person in that room.

The breakfast was horrible and did not resemble the typical German breakfast someone is expecting to find in a family-run village hotel. Overall it was one of the worst experience that we ever had with a hotel stay. Originally we have booked for 5 nights but we managed to stay only for one(1) night and after an official complaint to both booking.com and the consumers protection association, we left.

I arrived after a long travel around Europe, I had a printed booking reservation but the landlady affirmed my books was for the follow day in a pretty rude way. Instead of looking for a solution she made me go away without anywhere to sleep.

I have stayed in hotels all over the world, Even in South Sudan the hotels are way better.
The owner is not serviceminded at all. Frau Feldmeier do not understand that to run a hotel means that you have to be serviceminded.
The breakfast is at best something you can Get in prison, no eggs, milk, bacon, vegetables, ( There was boiled eggs cut into small bits and cold as well.) The serving staff at breakfast is a boy around 14, and thats not good enough. The food was not refilled on the plates and did not look welcoming.
It smelled cigarett smoke in the halls as the owner smoke inside her apartment inside the hotel.

There is a well of other hotels in Oberammergau that will give you a great stay. So do not live in Hotel Landhaus Feldmeier.

In summary:
-unhelpful staff
-nobody spoke english which made it very hard for us to communicate as we don't speak any german.
-NO WI-FI in the rooms (to be precise no wi-fi anywhere in the common areas) unless you ask at the reception. Following your request they give you a password which is valid for a certain period and is ONLY for you...If your husband also needs WI-FI all he has to do is ...ask at the reception ofcourse. By the way, when I booked this hotel one of the decisive features was the FREE WI-FI that the hotel has in their site. So be aware.
- NO FREE PARKING...the second decisive feature for my family as we were travelling by car from another country was the free parking. The hotel's site mentions free parking but when you arrive they tell you that the parking places are limited and if you want to ensure a parking space you can pay 5 euros a day and use their private parking. I have also taken a photo of the hotel's booklet in which they refer to the 'free wi-fi' and the 'free-parking' as proof to what I say.
-Noisy room. Our room was right next to the bar so we could count all the times that the bar man was using the blender...fantastic.
-The breakfast area as well as the breakfast itself was the saddest combination I have ever encountered in all my travels. German breakfast is the most complete and rich breakfast that I know of, but not in this hotel! Veeeery poor, absolutely basic and they served also a filter coffee which was undrinkable...if you don't see it you don't believe it.
-Location wise not great. It mentions that the hotel is close to Garmisch but the road to get to G. is full of turns and no lights. So not the easiest in rainy conditions...
Bottom line, never again!

The hotel by itself is close to perfect (comfortable beds, nice room, perfect sauna and spa area, excellent breakfast exceeding any expectations), but it is only fine if you have nothing to do with the landlady except for paying and leaving at the end. As soon as you have anything to be arranged, agreed or extra services organized, you are in trouble. For instance, I was given a scolding like a school boy when I entered a room where my telephone was left to charge at the chefs office (doors open!!). The dinner was served only until 8pm, and if you are a minute late, you are not served, so we were forced to find another, luckily, more beautiful restaurant nearby. We were also monitored while in the sauna to control, if all the bright lights are properly switched on (entry for adults only). And so forth... I would certainly want to recommend the hotel for its rooms, spa and breakfast, but please stay away from "Mrs. Madam"!

We booked 2 rooms at this hotel in October 2015 through booking.com, and arrived on the 25th May to be informed that there had been a mistake and they had overbooked. What we didn't understand was that they still had vacancies 3 weeks before we arrived.
We have to ask the question how they decided who they were not going to give rooms to that night and why they chose us. British, well over 55 in age and no children or pets with us.
They did however, give us an address for another hotel that had a room vacant and we were grateful to the Bold Hotel, in Oberammagau for accommodating us at that late stage of our journey.
We had a feeble sorry from them, but no real explanation of how they come to be overbooked.
Would not book again at this hotel and would recommend that you check that they have allocated a room for you before driving for 5 hours like we did.
