This is a beautiful hotel right next to train & bus station, short 5 minutes walk to Passion Theatre and centre of town and a mini mart at the petrol station opposite the hotel (which opens till 10pm while we were there). We had a junior suite - a huge corner room with separate sitting area, fridge and mountain views. The staff members were friendly and helpful and food (breakfast & dinner) there was good. Given the peak Passion Play period, I felt that the price was reasonable for a junior suite. We were lucky to be able to secure a room there as the town was mostly booked up and whatever is available had higher price tags. Free parking is available on the hotel premises. There are more than sufficient power sockets in the room. But note that there is no elevator or air conditioning. There's shared balcony areas at 2 ends of the building where you could sit and enjoy the mountain view. Overall we are very satisfied with our stay and it is nice to be able to walk back to the hotel for a short rest during the 3 hour Passion Play break.

We stayed in a self catering apartment, in photo, adjacent to the main hotel.
The apartment was immaculately clean, spacious and well appointed. Ideally located next to supermarkets and a 5 min walk to the town centre.
Our hosts, Petra and Erol were friendly, charming and welcoming from the outset. Oberammergau is a fantastic location to discover Bavaria at any time of the year. We based ourselves here for a family skiing break- with easy access to great local slopes and only 25 mins from Garmisch.
We intend to return, thoroughly recommend the town in general and this hotel in particular.

The is a great place with big rooms and good bathrooms. Public transportation is right outside the hotel. The hotel has its own parking lot. As I prefer rooms without carpet, the room was perfect for me. Breakfast was well served with coffee or tea. I enjoyed a week with very friendly hosts.

We loved our stay here. We came for the Passion Play and Erol & Petra made us feel so at home. As if we were family. The place itself was excellent. Very close to the station and to the city center, it was super clean, comfortable, the room was spacious, the beds and bedding were great. We really enjoyed ourselves there!

I stayed at the hotel for a week.
The rooms are clean and very modern with all you needed, in winter time also nice and warm. The bathroom is perfect and clean and you have all you needed there. Breakfast is perfect and very good choice of items to take.
The location of the hotel is perfect, directly next to the train station and bus station. I did not have any trouble with noise due to that location, it is not that busy as you might think when you see the location. Do not worry it is quiet and with a nice view.
The staff is very friendly and helpful. So overal I only can say TOP place to be.

Stayed here for 4 nights. Hotel is right next to the train station, a little walk to the town centre. Great service, and trekking poles available for guests. The bed was the best that I have ever seen in any hotel! A good choice for visiting Oberammergau.

This small hotel near the train station is a great place. You are a short 5 minute walk to the center of town. The rooms are wonderful and beds are first class. Internet access is first rate. What really makes the stay at this hotel worthwhile are the owners, Roland and Uta. They make you feel like family. Their homemade German breakfasts are fantastic. Their schnitzel and cordon bleu are the best and Uta's German potato salad can't be beat.

Wow pretty much sums it up....the couple running the Hotel Ammergauer Hof are absolutely amazing hosts, from the minute we pulled up they just couldn't do enough. Coffee at the ready, information on the location, recommendations on restaurants. We shown to our room which was a beautiful, light, modern suite. Before heading out for dinner we were invited to the "grillkota" (BBQ hut) for a drink. We didn't know at the time that the BBQ was being fired up otherwise we wouldn't have headed into town for dinner. We did join after our dinner and the drinks were free flowing, it was a great way to meet other guests and it was a superb night. The bed was amazing, so comfortable! We joined for breakfast at an additional €7.50pp which is absolutely worth every penny. When we did have to leave the car was surrounded by snow, the owner was out first thing clearing the snow for us. A superb hotel made so much more special by the owners who really do go out of their way to make your stay special. We would certainly stay again and would highly recommend Hotel Ammergauer Hof to others.
