The stay was amazing - a day starts with very nice breakfast, then walked along the lake shore, at 11 there is no people in spa and swimming pool (and this is the best time to enjoy these facilities), afterwards we enjoyed lunch in one of the town restaurants and then again went to walk around the lake and again spa and swimming pool (not the best time in the evening but still allowed to enjoy staying at the hotel with pool), and finally dinner in the Riessersee lake restaurant. Relax )) If you are skiing, you can go immediately after the breakfast when it is sunny, and return back in the midday to have tea and apfelstrudel on the Riesserssee terrace. The only thing you need to take care about is that if you stay at the building near the lake, then you always need to dress warm clothes in order to go to the spa, which is not convenient at all. Hotel management could organize some space (separate room) to leave the outerwear there and not bring it to the changing room where it is too hot ))

Dear guest, thank you very much for your great review, the 5 stars you rewarded us and your compliments for our hotel and our facilities! Your daily routine sounds like a perfect and relaxing vacation day, I'm happy to hear you enjoyed it! Our kitchen team is delighted at your praise for Riessersee's culinary. Your words are the perfect confirmation for our daily efforts and work and make it worthwhile at 100%. A great start for our team in 2020! And thank you for your hint about the separate room for the outerwear, we'll discuss that internally and try to find a more comfortable solution for our guests. The Riessersee Hotel Team would be happy to welcome you again in Garmisch-Partenkirchen anytime. Kind regards, Marina Reindl

Large resort hotel located up the hill from Garmish itself. Comfortable rooms, spacious public areas, good food, very quiet location and spectacular views. Varied menu and pleasant ambiance at adjacent Seehaus Restaurant. Duplex rooms with mezzanine sleeping area are impractical and balcony overhang darkens the interior. Swimming pool temperature set too low (maybe to discourage congregations during Covid-19 pandemic). Walking routes from the doorstep but trek to the nearest lift.

Our family enjoyed our recent stay at the Riessersee Hotel. The property is situated at a beautiful alpine lake with fantastic view of the nearby snow capped mountains with numerous walking trails including the historic Bobsled track. We loved the lobby amenities, especially the kinder play room, fire place, cozy seating areas, game room and bar. The quiet setting and comfortable beds made for great sleeping. Breakfast was fantastic. Suggestions: the hotel is a bit outdated (not to be confused with historic and classic which are great) and could use a refresher, namely replacing the old stained carpets throughout, painting walls, updating some of the room soft goods and providing some type of enclosure at the sharp metal heating units at the windows. All in all a great stay and would definitely return!

Dear guest, thank you very much for your feedback and your praising words for our hotel! We're glad to read you and your family enjoyed your stay with us in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and all our amenities! That's right, our location offers lots of outdoor activities and walking trails - directly starting from the hotel. Our guests love that as well as our employees appreciate it and the closeness to beautiful nature. A big thank you for your breakfast praise, it is very important for us to enable our guests a perfect start in their holiday with a rich and multiple breakfast buffet! :) 2020 will be a year of renovation, modernisation and refurbisment as well as 2019 was. We will go on refurbishing our exterior facades & balconies of all our buildings, we will shortly get a bunch of new beds and all carpets will be renewed in early springtime. We would be delighted to welcome you again as soon as possible to show you our diligence in refreshment! Kind regards from Germany, Marina Reindl

The location of hotel is stunning - literally, on it's own, in the mountains, on a lake.
We had a room in the lake house, directly overlooking the water.
There's a walk down the mountain and into the local town. The town has everything you'd ever need, and is full of reasonably priced eateries.
Breakfast in the hotel was good. The hotel itself is very large and is best suited for family holidays, or a base for skiing. We found it a little too large for the two of us, but that's a personal opinion.

Big fan of their buffet breakfast which had a wide spread and tasted so good. Room view was great and the room itself was quiet. While I can understand why some comments are saying that the rooms looked tired, I think there's some beauty to having a rustic, less contemporary themed room out in the alps. Also, you can freely access the amenities without hassle such as entry cards/registration.

We spent christmas there and it was extremely cosy, while it did not snow the surrounding was still magical. I loved the programme, i would highly recommend people to go to this resort for christmas.

Pros:
1) Walkable distance to garmish town
2) Clean and spacious room (ask for the two storey rooms, you get a large living room and bedroom updstairs)
3) View of the frozen lake
4) Awesome program - Lama walk, Gathering and performances
5) Walking distance to the nearest ski shop (20mins)
6) Shuttle bus to go to the nearest train station
7) Amazing food at the restaurant

Cons
1) None

Do remember to book the buffet in advance if you are going for peak season!

Let’s start by saying that you cannot please everybody.
I came here with my family, and we booked two rooms, one for the kids and the loft-style one for the wife and me. This review is based on this experience. I am not sponsored nor incentivized by the hotel.
Although there were some outside parking spots, I chose to go underneath the hotel out of sheer curiosity. I’ve enjoyed that quite a bit. I could send the kids to the parking house if they forgot a jacket, or headphones inside the car.

There are three major highlights of this place: the first is the view. The hotel faces a mountain wall where you can see the morning sun stretch itself all over it. You can see the town sprawled right at the base of this enormous mountain wall. This is an objective way to review where you are in life and make you think of things bigger than yourself. If you are not into that kind of thing, I can understand.

The second is the layout of the hotel. Bear with me on this one, seeing that I am not an architect but a customer. The rooms are not stacked on top of each other like a high-rise. Instead, they are arranged in a fashion where you go to a different department for the pool, then you head to a different department for the parking, and another one for your room. I found it very interesting because navigating inside feels like an adventure. The hotels have at least five elevators. I was baffled to see so many elevators in a hotel in Germany. If walking is not your thing, take the Aufzug.

Last thing, this one my family enjoyed quite a bit and that is the restaurant. It is a buffet style for the morning and a reservation in the afternoon. The part worth mentioning here is the delivery and seamliness of the crew operating those restaurants (there are two of them). I am not talking about customer service but intent on ensuring you enjoy your time while eating there. A whole bunch of young people are well-trained in what they do.

Of course, some honorable mentions are the pool, the sauna (three styles), the gym, the EV parking, the lake behind the hotel, the hiking path behind the hotel, the game room at the lobby, the dress code, the bar, and lastly the undeniable peace and quiet. I am fortunate to be able to stay there with my family. Nevertheless, we all know there are things in life one simply cannot pay for them.

Nice hotel with good wifi and great breakfast but staff is not friendly. Hotel is a 15 dollar taxi ride from town and there is no hotel shuttle service. The staff is not very friendly or helpful. We couldn't use The spa in the morning because it was closed until 1 pm. The breakfast and dinner buffets we're very good. The place is very clean. Wifi is very good suitable for working remotely. If you don't have a car you may want to stay in town.

This is the second Time I celebrate my birthday at the Riessersee resort and have enjoyed it even more. It situated is a private area by the lake. Very quiet surrounded by nature. The service was superb. The food (h/b) was very good. The front desk staff were very helpful and so were the dining room personnel. Unfortunately we didn’t have snow this time. But we will be back next year.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and loved it. We had a larger room in the seehaus with a great view of the Riessersee and mountains. Breakfast was great with everything you could think of but I used all my calories on the fresh baked bretzel! We especially enjoyed the trail near the hotel that followed the 1904 Olympic bobsled run! The seehaus restaurant was very good and the servers were so nice and helped us with German pronunciation. We had a great meal there with fantastic views. We did not use the wellness center but it looked nice. We had a car- parking was free and it was easy to get everywhere. We saw that they had bikes for guests ( not sure if there was a. Charge) but that would have been fun had we planned another day. Highly recommend the eibsee hike with views of Zugspitze and St. Martin Hütte hike.
