The hotel is certainly not in alpine style, looks more like an apartment building (which I believe it partially is). The lobby and the restaurant area looks more like a traditional house in the Alps.

Our room faced the street, and there was some noise in the evening. The pillows were huge and not comfortable, and the mattresses were too hard. Then finally, there is no AC, so it was difficult to sleep in a hot room. Kids running in the corridors added to the discomfort (poor sound isolation). There is some signs of wear and tear all over the hotel.

The breakfast was a little scarce and chaotic. This probably due to the pandemic restrictions, but other hotels during our trip managed this better.

Limited parking (for a fee) at the hotel, so we found it more convenient to park on the street where it is free during the night time.

The location is good as the pedestrian area of Partenkirchen starts about 100 meters from the hotel.

Would most probably opt for a different hotel next time.

We recently stayed here for 4 nights, as Accor members, during a short break in Garmisch. We found the location ideal - it's not right in the centre of the town, but there are plenty of local amenities and places to eat. The main train station is around a 15 min walk, but there are buses too, if needed.
Best Points:
Excellent and easy parking. Costs 8€ a day, which isn't bad at all.
The breakfast staff were all an absolute joy! We're not morning people, so getting up to make the end of breakfast before 1030h is hard, but they were cheerful and welcoming, and moreover seem to work well as a team. Well done!
The breakfast choice was good. It actually expanded during the week. I don't usually eat meat outside of my home, but I could if I wanted to, as there were several turkey choices, instead of pork which I definitely can't eat. My husband found his salmon was there from day two onwards, so he was happy.
We had a suite, because we like room to move. It was little dated, but mostly fine. The bathroom was a bit tight.
The not so good:
Having lived in Germany for years, we're now resigned to the separate duvets and can make a joke about them (they're just not our style), but for a suite, I would expect at least zip and link beds, instead of actual separate beds pushed together. Not comfortable for us at all.
I'm not bothered about AC personally, but I can sort of understand why those who are might find it stuffy on warmer days.
The reception staff were hit and miss. I kept checking, as there was a sign saying there were issues with credit card payment. The day before we left, the staff member reassured me that it wouldn't be an issue, as my card was on file and they could process it online. Good, no need to get cash then. Sadly, when we left, a different staff member had me try two different cards, both of which failed (as predicted) before processing the payment online, which went through straight away. With a queue building up behind me, this was somewhat awkward, to say the least.
The bar is very quiet in the evening! We took our drinks to our room as it was just too quiet.
A couple of times, the cleaners entered the room, with only a perfunctory knock, despite our use of the 'don't disturb' sign.
Overall:
We will stay here again, as we feel we know how to navigate the area well, and really, for the convenience of parking and such, it's a solid choice of hotel. Hope they can reconsider the beds though!
The location and the breakfast crew and breakfast choice are definite plus points.

I thought this was a lovely hotel, my partner thought it needed modernised a little - which I agree a little with, however, the decor suits the area (Alpine/old fashioned). It is a great location, plenty nearby.
We were a family of three, there were two double beds in the room. Rooms could have been a little bigger, but they were okay and had everything we needed.
The pool area was nice too.
We got free city passes included with our stay too, this meant we could travel locally on buses, trains etc and also a pass into the local swimming pool - this is great! Slides etc for kids too.
Breakfast was lovely with plenty of choice.
Friendly staff.

I understand that staying in Garmisch-Partenkirchen is not cheap, but I am sure i could have found hotels at the same price which were more comfortable and of better value (we paid 140 euros for 1 night). The room was clean at first sight, although kinda outdated in terms of decoration, but the couch and carpets were very dusty (certainly don't look at the carpet in the corners !). Wa asked for a high floor and quiet room to end up with a room at the 1st floor and next to the entrance assigned. The bed was very soft with the mattress against a wall corner (felt like a water mattress !). The breakfast was disappointing and depressing : Adding a bit of background music would add a bit of life to the place. We got there at 9am to find half of the buffet items empty. Despite booking on the accor website directly, the points were not credited automatically after 10 days and had to file a manual claim. We will certainly go back to Garmisch at some point as the region is simply lovely but we might choose a different hotel.

We stayed here for two nights and if ever we return, will do so again. During this difficult time of travel, Covid19, the hotel was extremely careful to ensure that the clients and employees were safe. The location is just next to the old town and we were able to walk and bike around freely. Great stay!

The hotel service was poor, they usually only have 1 staff available who is busy at the front desk. I requested for towels, the guy at the reception said he will bring it and did not because he was so busy at the reception, i had to collect it myself. They had only 1 iron and ironing board in the hotel which was located in a small room near the reception. The iron was old and rusty.
The hotel location is alright , the room was ok too but the bathroom was tiny and stuffy, it had a weird smell.

Really nice view from the rooms. Furniture could be a little more quaint for the high price. Parking situation is awful for such a remote location, especially considering that they charge 5EUR/night even if you don't find one of the few parking spaces.
Pool needs an update.
Anything else great.

As a retired hotel manager, I feel that the word hospitality has no meaning in this hotel. The restaurant for one, was not available for customers and our party had to go out and find a place to eat under rainy cold conditions. The staff did not understand that we were paying guests, their disdain for our comfort was evident.
There was no heating in my room, I had to sleep fully dressed to be able to keep my body heat, The only blanket that was available was the size of a large towel, one pillow and you could never get comfortable in that bed. The staff was not trained and rude. I would never recommend this place to anyone specially with the prices that they charge. I really felt that it had been the worst experience in my life.

Dear Luis, Thank you very much for staying at the Mercure Hotel Garmisch-Partenkirchen and for taking the time to share you impressions on Tripadvisor. As an Mercure hotel, we pay great attention to the service provided to our guests. Your feedback and experience will help us point out the key areas on which to work on, and we truly appreciate the time you have taken to point out these matters. With regards to the restaurant we would like to apologies that all tables were already reserved an Saturday and due to this we had not the chance to convince of our restaurant offer & the team spirit. Concerning the heating, we do admit that it was very challeging to handle the differnce of 20 degrees from on day to the other. In order to improve the heating performance we did our utmost but out Maintenance team wasent't quick enough for varyinf factos can affect the heatind in the different areas. I do apologize, that due to this, your recent stay was not as relaxing as it should be. Although we fell short of meeting your expectations during your past stay, I hope you will consider Mercure Hotel Garmisch-Partenkirchen again for a next stay so that we can better deliver upon the guest experience you deserve. We all would be are more than happy to servce you in any way we can. Best regards Eva Binder General Manager

My group spent a quick night here after the Passion Play at Oberammergau about 30 minutes away. Although we arrived late, the room keys were ready and checkin was seamless. The elevators are very small and fit a couple people at a time. I loved the room. There were two twin beds, comfy sheets and duvet, and a down Euro pillow. The room had a little breakfast table in it. One of the things I liked the best was the bathroom. Although it was small, there was a wonderful deep tub and great soap and shampoo (in squeeze bottles). The breakfast was exceptional. There was lots of regional items, delicious breads, cheeses, and sausage, and many many choices. The wait staff was courteous. I'd love to stay here again someday.
