Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I have had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Bavaria twice, and both times were great! The first time I went, I stayed with several friends all in little one person rooms that were quite cozy. The second time, I came with my family who stayed in their best room while I stayed in the same room. Both times, I had a consistently good experience complete with good breakfast. But the service sets this place apart - the family that runs this hotel is very warm, welcoming, and a gold standard of German (okay, global!) Hospitality! One time o forgot my headphones there - they mailed them back to me. I actually just found out we got a Christmas card from them as well - we live in the USA and they still sent good wishes. Anytime I am in GP, I will be back.

Lastly, to address a few points: Germany generally doesn't have AC anywhere in the summer, and the location I found to be excellent to walk anywhere in GP.

Our rooms were quite small but the use of space was perfect, with beautiful woodwork custom-made for each room. The staff was the warmest and most helpful of any place of the 5 hotels (including much more expensive hotels) that we stayed on the trip. The common areas are delightful as well. Good internet service.

We stayed for only one night and were very sad to leave. From the moment we arrived we received great kindness and helpfulness, with a personal touch. Our room was small but delightful and the breakfast room was beautifully furnished and authentic, The breakfast was excellent and the service very attentive.
The location was perfect for us, as we needed to be near the railway station, but wanted peace and quiet. It is away from main roads and the Partnach flows at the bottom of the garden!
Would definitely stay here again.

My husband, friends and I traveled to Garmisch during the Xmas holidays. Hotel Bavaria is centrally located in Garmisch. We immediately forgot that we were staying at a hotel. The hospitality of Mr. and Mrs von Thurn and their staff made us feel so welcome. The service, food and accomadations were excellent. Their standards are consistantly high and never faltered once. If you are planning a trip to Garmisch, you will not want to miss out on this wonderful experience. Thank you family von Thurn and the entire staff for making our stay such a pleasant one.

I, my wife and my little child had summer holiday in Garmisch from 6nd to 20nd August 2005. The hotel is located in a very pacefull residential area, very close to the Garmisch Kurpark. Our room (1 double bed + 1 single bed) was large, clean, quiet and well furnished. The entire hotel is very well arranged and it create a warm welcome and familiar sensation. We had an half board treatment and were completely satisfayed (good and several choises for breakfast, high level quality for dinner). Mr and Mrs Von Thurn and the entire staff are very friendly and let you feel ever welcome. We think it is the right place where you can fell like home and find several things to do (trekking, bike trekking, cultural trips, etc.) but you will find also a very quiet and confortable ambient to relax yourself.

My husband and I went with 4 of our friends for the Christmas and New Year holidays to Garmish-Partenkirchen and stayed at the Bavaria Hotel for 14 days. Already, when making the reservation, we knew that this will be the perfect place for us. Mr. Von Thrun was very helpful on the phone. The hotel and personnel were everything we thought they would be. We arrived in the evening, Willi helped us carry our luggage to our rooms. The rooms, which all had balconies, were very nice and clean. They had some goodies on the table for our welcome. Meals were excellent and plentiful, thanks to Chef Michael. The Christmas and New Year's meals were very special and consisted of 4 courses. Gerda, our server, could not have been more pleasant and efficient. The Wintergarden was a wonderful place to meet and socialize with the other hotel guests. Ilona, at the reception desk couldn't have been more helpful. Mr. and Mrs. Von Thurn have a wonderful hotel in a central but quiet location. We now know, that we will go back to the Hotel Bavaria. Just like so many other hotel guests that we talked to during our stay who have been coming back to this establishment for over 30 years.

My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Bavaria on 6 May 06.
Clean - well located - good breakfast - friendly and helpful staff - english speakers - easy five minute walk from train station - - room was large, bed was comfortable - - everything was as spotless as possible
Our only complaint is the hot water must be on a timer since we tried to shower around 0630 and the hot water did not appear until 0700 or a little before.

Having stayed at the Hotel Bavaria over many years we have no hesitation in recommending it highly for its warm and cosy atmosphere (Gemutlichkeit) which gives one a taste of real Bavarian hospitality.

The decor of the hotel artistically conveys traditional Bavarian culture, with changes reflecting the seasons. The food is excellent and the staff are most friendly and helpful. For half-board there is a sumptuous breakfast and a choice of two menus for dinner, one having the emphasis on 'healthy' eating. There is also an a-la-carte option.

For a 3-star hotel it is exceptionally good value, certainly by British standards. It is in a good central location and is near to the railway station. We look forward to our next visit.

My husband and I made an online reservation of a double bed room which cost us 100 euros for night. We arrived early in the morning and were told that the room was not ready, so we finished some check-in stuff and left. However, when we came back at around six in the evening, we were offered Room no.1 which was indeed a single room with 2 beds in an L-shape, just like a room in a univeristy residence hall.
The room was very small. After we opened our 2 medium-sized luggages, there was not much space left in the room. There was no rooms to change. We understood that it is a peak season, but still we felt very, very disappointed with the stay. The stay surely didn't worth this price.
If rooms are charged according to room sizes, or with a view or not, like the practice in Switzerland, it would be fairer to customers.

The negatives far outweigh the positives.

Positives - good location, close to town centre

Negatives
Both taps dripped.
Room was small
Window was small so room was dark.
Window was so high up the wall that we could see out it.
Awful decor. Advocado coloured bathroom suite
Light bulb on my side of the bed did not work.

I could go on but won't.
