Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Hohenschwangau is just a tiny little place where you only go to see the Neuschwanstein Castle but we were so glad that we decided to stay the night. Garni Schlossblick was lovely, very clean and comfortable and the buffet breakkie was great, truely German. It is very close to the Castle in fact its just opposite the carpark so if you are staying here make sure you check in first so you don't have to pay the carpark fee. It is just a little was into the village where we had a lovely meal that night as well. Definitely worth staying at if you intend on finding out more about the magical castle of King Ludwick.

It’s a little hotel, an old building. Room size was fine; the bathroom was pretty small, they could sure replace the mattresses with newer ones and the furnitures old as well. But, they were all clean.
And, the most important thing is, nothing can beat the view from our balcony, we looked directly towards the Neuschwanstein castle, so whenever you would like to enjoy the majestic view of the castle, you just need to step into the balcony. And that’s for an unbelievable price of 46 Euros/night for a double room, including breakfast.
Breakfast was modest but delicious. The choices were not exactly large, but, we find everything they served fresh and of excellent quality.
I think this was a good place to stay.

We stayed here as a family of 5 in a triple room and a double room. We were able to leave the car parked there the following day while we visited the castle so it was convenient. The rooms are basic, but clean. The bathrooms are small and basic, but clean. The main building only has WiFi in the lobby. The breakfast was the one drawback of the stay. Very basic. Very. Basic. Coffee, tea, juice, corn flakes, muesli, a few cold cuts and cheese, rolls, and jams. We have lived in Germany the past few years so I totally get what breakfast is, but even by Gasthaus standards, the breakfast was minimal. However, the pros outweigh the cons (breakfast/WiFi) and I would recommend for a quick trip.

We have spent 2 nights in this hotel from 02/01 until 04/01. We are a family a four, so we have booked 2 rooms.
We have really appreciated staying in this hotel : rooms are comfortable enough, people at reception was helpful, car-park is for free, and from the hotel you can go and visit castles walking (no need to drive !).
We strongly recommend this place that was the best ratio quality/price we could find on that period.

I booked this room thru Booking.com. I was aware of the limited hours to check-in and informed the hotel that I would check in around 8 and 9 pm. Check in stops at 8pm. Train was delayed due to a fire. I called hotel and informed them and told them that I wouldn't get there til 10pm. The lady got upset and complained to me that I was making her life hard because she has been up there since 6am. She told me to cancel the room so she can go home, I told her that if I did that then I would not have a place to stay. She told me to not come and just stay in Fussen a town nearby where the train stops. I asked her for a hotel that had rooms and she said that she didn't have time to look and that I should just walk around and I'll find one. I told her that I had luggage and I was with my wife, and we had no idea where we were going. All she did was complained that she wanted to go home. Needless to say she said that if we came by she would not be there and we would have no room there. So me and my wife arrived in Fussen and we walked around for about an hour with our two big bags and two small bags trying to find a room. All rooms were booked, after an hour of looking we finally found one more then 10mins by cab from the train station, for twice the price that I expected to pay for. No apology from the lady. Was planning to stop by the hotel while visiting the castle but the hotel had already ruined by trip and didn't want them to ruin my visit to the hotel. Will fight any charge they put on my card, and will be calling to speak to the manager when I get back home. Pls do not stay here don't give them your hard earned money.

I accompany by my parents was visiting Bavaria this August. One of the days started for us at Frankfurt on Main. Very early morning we left the city heading to Heidelberg, spend almost a day there, slight after 5pm we've started the way to Hohenschwangau where we planed to stay over a night as I've booked a room at the Hotel Garni Schlossblick, few days in advance. The way to the town took more then 4 hours and how were we surprised when the door of the hotel been closed. I found the envelop with an information that the room has been canceled and fees applied. All the attempts to reach an administration of the hotel by knocking the door or by phone were failed. My parents who 60+ were so tired and shocked of such service. The staff of the hotel even didn't try to contact me that day by phone\email or tried to leave instruction how to get a key of the room when the time came to the end of the reception duty, they just canceled my booking. That night was like a nightmare, we we struggling to find any motel around as ether reception were closed or no rooms are available for all the hotels in town. Next day I came to the reception of the Hotel Garni Schlossblick with a hope to get some apology, money back or one night stay, but the receptionist were so rude and the position were very clear: that is your mistake and we are don't care the reason you are late ether heavy traffic on the road or anything else same as don't care if you are able to find a room such late time somewhere around. Sorry but I won't ever do deal with this hotel and my rate is 1 out of 5 only

This is the place which we will never visit again! For the high price you will get no internet, no TV, no elevator, leaking sink, unbelievably poor breakfast, no sound-isolation, unprofessional and very coarse staff. Our room was very cold. We could not sleep normally because of that. The light switch on our floor was broken and dangerous for life in the dark. You can see this in the photo. The receptionist was very coarse! She attacked my wife and insult her. She brought my wife to tears. It is difficult to believe but this kind of place is still existing in Bavaria!

We are traveling as a family with a small kid as age 3. We were forced to book an extra bed for the kid, price the same as an adult. While the house regulation said the kid could stay with the parents for free, they dont let us to put the kid free with any adults.

We checked in very early that day and expected good rooms, but we were only put to sides room intentionally. Staff aren't really friendly, this places brings money automatically so they don't really care who stays there. And the room is also very basic, paid wi-fi on top. The restaurant is also over-priced.

It's a simple no-frills 3 star hotel that is perfectly located for visits to the two nearby castles (Hohenshwangau Castle-15 mins walk; Neuschwanstein Castle-30mins walk), and more important ticket centre (10 mins walk). No need to park your car in the congested public parking space nor fight the traffic in the small township.

We were given Room 1 which had a massive balcony that overlooked Neuschwanstein Castle (PERFECT TO chill out with a glass of wine and saviour the beautiful mountain range!!). The room we had was big, relatively plush with a very comfortable bed. Only downside is the Toilet which is somewhat dark and a kin to a public joint.

Breakfast is very simple and uncomplicated.

Overall, a very decent and relatively priced hotel for an overnight stay to prepare for the castle visits in the morning.

(ps.. Tip: Book online for the castle visits. Suggest a 9am start. Wake up early to collect the tickets as you need to do so 1 hour before the allotted time. Return to the hotel for breakfast and then prepare for your castle experience!)

How close to trains?
Answer from KaitlynM77
Cincinnati, Ohio22 contributions9 helpful votes
The train station is actually in Fussen up the road. You can take a cheap cab ride (which we did arriving since it was late in the evening) or the bus which leaves right from the train station and drops you at the bus station in Hohenschwangau (we did this departing). Hotel Garni Schlossblick is just a short walk down the road from the bus stop. Good luck and have fun! The view and stay was great!
