Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A nice hotel. Nothing fancy but nice. You actually check in at the hotel next door; The Hotel Ambiance and they escort you to the Rivoli and direct you to your room. Well worth the reasonable price. Great service. A very nice breakfast buffet (and dining area) is available for an extra charge.

It has free Wi-Fi and a working safe. Is a short walk from Harras which is the S/U-Bahn station closest to it. There’s nothing near it really. McDonalds is a 10 min walk and there is a Lidl and other supermarkets within walking distance but no pubs or bars close to it. Also the first door you come to when you arrive for the first time is not the entrance. It’s a few yards up the street. It is attached to a Vietnamese restaurant which when open the smell of the food could be smelled from a distance. The lobby was small. When we arrived we left our bags and were given tickets but when we came back my partner couldn’t find them but the member of staff just allowed me to walk in and get our bags. Handy for us but I could’ve taken any ones case or someone else could’ve done that to me. The mattress was solid and the pillow was tiny and awful. Neither of us got a good sleep the 3 nights we stayed. The bathroom door doesn’t close properly. It’s a sliding door and when we arrived the door was off the runner but I managed to put it back on. Even then it just slid across the door way there was no lock or fixture to keep it in place. The view we had was to a courtyard at the rear of the property but wasn’t much to look at. I’ll not be rushing back. It’s not too far away from the centre of Munich but you’d need to venture away from it for some atmosphere.

Everything was excellent. Few steps from S-bahn and U-bahn stations, 1 minute :) 4 stops to Marienplatz (city centre) with u-bahn. 4 stops to central train station with s-bahn. Only 15 minutes. Breakfast was excellent. You can find Mediterranean breakfast; olive, tomatoes, lettuce, fried eggs. There are many more alternatives. Because of its location and excellent breakfast, I would stay there if I go to Munich again. But there isn’t mini bar. I prefer cold water even if it’s snowing.

The rooms were bigger in person. The bathroom is quite modern with a nice bathtub. It is so close to the city center or Marienplatz and takes 10 minutes with the s bahn which is a direct train The staff was so nice and we could leave our suitcases in the lobby and explore

Missing many amenities! The hotel has no employees except cleaning personnel. There is no front desk attendees you must go up the street to another hotel to check in. There is no phone in the rooms so you must go to the other hotel if you have questions or needs. Listing said there is air conditioning but there was none and we were informed at the other hotel that our hotel building has no air condition in any of the rooms. It gets hot during the day. He also said that his boss has been informed of the missing amenities many times and has not changed the listing! Gave us a small fan and told us to write a bad review because there's nothing he can do. If you paid for breakfast to be included you also have to go to the other hotel to receive it every morning.

Very convenient location as it’s steps from Harras station on the U-Bahn subway. Breakfast was €10 per person, which is a slightly high considering the range of options (that being said, the food was pretty decent). I understand it takes money to run the place but I couldn’t help but think “hmm” after paying for the breakfasts (just being honest). Room was very clean, staff was very friendly, washrooms were clean (minor pedantic note: the multi-purpose soap smelled a bit weird). The Wifi was very weak in the room which is a problem, especially if you have a limited German data plan. Overall: if you need a simple place to sleep that doesn’t break the bank and is close to transit, this is a good option.

+ within metres of U/SBahn (Harras) + quiet rooms - bathroom floods easily - expensive over Oktoberfest period (expected though) - no tea/coffee making facilities (vending machine in reception) - no shampoo/conditioner

We checked in on the 22nd of June around 6 PM at rivoli Hotel Munich. The welcome wasn't very warm compared to the hotel ambiance rivoli which is next-door and where we mistakenly went at first with a very friendly receptionist. After checking in, I've been placed in a twin room even though I had booked a queen bed room on trip.com. When I've told the receptionist about it, she checked or pretended to check and rejected the fault on their partner without any empathy or excuses and I ended up in a twin room. The room was clean and the location OK not far from public transport. But I give it 2 stars as it supposed to be a 3 stars but that specific member of the staff gave us a 1 or below 1 star service.

Our experience here was less than ideal, from the cramped room - we were somehow stuck in a shoebox of a room with slanted ceilings that didn't even have room for a light on the table, so the light was actually placed on the floor. The bed was hard as a rock and the room had no air conditioning and wifi was almost nonexistent (we were told it was in process of being upgraded b/c of so many complaints). Pictures shown on here are not even of the hotel, they are of the Rivoli Ambiance next door! There is no lobby because the hotel is so small, the breakfast was extremely basic and unforgettable, the elevator could barely fit 2 people plus luggage....The front desk staff (female) was great when we had questions, but the two male staff members were not. On day of check out, the front desk male was arguing with me about payment. Our payment was made through a travel agent, and he was yelling at me that I needed to make payment when I kept telling him that it had already been taken care of. He was very rude. The location seemed a bit off and there wasn't much within walking distance besides the train. Room was pretty quiet at night because there wasn't much evening activity outside because of the location. Overall a horrible way to end my European trip. The sister hotel next door would have even been an improvement, but they were full when we were there.

This hotel was a great find if you're looking for clean and comfortable at a bargain price, and aren't expecting a lot of amenities. Our room had two twin beds and one bed slightly smaller (probably 70" long or so). The hotel is a half-block from the Harras station, about 10 mins from the Marienplatz by U-Bahn and the Hauptbahnhof by S-Bahn. There is a little street noise if you have to leave the window open (no A/C), but not too bad. They have a 10-Euro breakfast buffet that looked pretty good, but we wound up eating breakfast at Chaplin's Bakery a block or so down, which was very good and better for people-watching. At any rate, highly recommend.
