Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We followed the directions on the hotel website and got there by public transport with the minimum of fuss in about 20 minutes. If you're by public transport and coming home late, the late-night bus service from Allach station to the bus stop at Keselstrasse, where you get off for the hotel, looks like a private coach and is unmarked. Just tell the driver where you want to go. We found the general public ultra-helpful with seemingly no grudge about losing the war.

We were welcomed at reception by a short, happy-looking man wearing glasses. He quickly checked us in and eagerly offered us information on how to get to the city-centre. Very helpful.

We had room 103, which was spacious and cleaned to perfection. A single, coconut-covered Ferrero Rochet styled chocolate was on each pillow of a comfy double bed, the valence of which was the ideal material and colour for an astro-turf Subbuteo pitch. The room itself was tastefully and functionally decorated, but I must state that the attention to cleanliness and a desire to perfect gave an overall feel of not wanting to touch anything for fear of breaking it. In a sense, character was difficult to define – definitely not romantic, though the essence for inter-relations was there in a suspect way.

The bathroom had a white-tiled floor and was fitted with a shower unit – tops! There was plenty of heat in the water and dual-controls for the power. All the chrome fittings were 5-star polished and actually doubled as mirrors for your nether regions. The toilet was a winner, coping with anything that came its way. However, smells did come back into the room, but I found out that people like that sort of thing in Germany. It wouldn’t put me off at all, but a balmy summer’s night could pose a challenge.

Breakfast was tended to by Welcome Man and coffee was served by a taller and hairier (on the head) version of him. I presume it was his son. There was a big buffet, plenty of fruit, salmon, cold meats, breads, yoghurt, and some cooked bacon, though I’d have liked some Nürnberger type sausages. There were also peeled, raw halved-carrots, but I’m not sure what that was all about. The vegetarians were certainly having a good munch at them.

Most of the guests were German and appeared to be affluent, matching the overall feel of the area of the residence. We paid a low price via a hotel booking website and feel that 88 Euros for a double room with breakfast was smashing.

This place gets a big “Jawohl” from me, though the location would be a deciding factor every time if a similar priced hotel was available closer to the centre.

I stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks on business. It was a great place to be. I had an apartment that was truly like home. The staff here is more than helpful with anything you need while you're visiting. They make you feel like family. I highly recommend this hotel for a short or long stay while in Munich.

We enjoyed our stay at the Westside Hotel in Munchen. Our room was large with an out-door balcony. The room was very clean and quiet. We visited the Dachau Memorial and the BMW factory; both near the hotel. Parking was free for our car. The staff were very professional and helpful. The breakfast was outstanding. We recommend this small hotel to other travelers.

Very friendly and helpfull owners, quick check in, clean and quiet rooms, good free Wireless Internet and pleasant breakfast. There are two restaurants nearby for dinner. If you are planing to drive to Munich downtown, take into consideration about 20 to 30 minutes driving time.

We picked this hotel because of the great reviews and the reasonable prices. Stayed for 2 nights, 2 adults and 2 kids (11 and 13 yo) in the "apartment" room. It was a really pleasant stay!

Pros: Excellent service. We were greeted warmly and the check-in/check-out was easy and quick. Nothing but a great a experience. Breakfast is outstanding. Truly great! Everything is fresh, great variety of meat, cheese, fruit, yogurts, fresh juice. You can order eggs, bacon, sausages cooked for you. Nice space outside to eat as well.
Everything is supremely clean and well taken care of. We stayed in the large room, with the king bed and a sofa bed. The bathroom was very spacious as well. It was the 2nd floor with a small balcony and a great view.

Cons: The furniture in the room is old. The sofa was supported by wood boxes instead of the legs and I hurt my toes more than ones. Naturally, the sofa was not very comfortable. I am going to say, judging by the style and condition, that the furniture went out of style some time in the 80's.
The TV was the old analog TV box. Or at least I suspect it was analog, well, because it didn't work, so I can't tell you how many channels we had or whether any of them were english-speaking. Since we spent most of our time outside, exploring Munich, it didn't matter much, so we only mentioned it at the check-out. It was surprising to me to see such outdated technology, though.
Unreliable WiFi in the evenings, that's where you miss TV! But we were too pooped to complain or care.

Location: I am not placing it into either (Pro or Cons) category since it depends on what one's looking for. The hotel is considered to be located in Munich, but it's really is in outskirts of the city in a residential area and has a look and feel of a country-side. It's quiet and with no parking issues. We walked around looking for a place to eat (found a Beer Garden with yummy schnitzel and good beer about .5 mile away, score!), but the area is dead after 5pm and unless you drive, you wouldn't find much to do around.

Overall it was a nice stay, nothing spectacular, but if you're looking for a quiet, affordable place with great service and food, this is the place!

Very Nice place to stay. Quite at night, easy walking to places to eat and drink. The owners are very American friendly and do every thing they can to help. Great German breakfast. Very close to Krauss-Maffie, but you should have a car to drive. S bann train station a long walk from the hotel. A good businessman motel.

Fabulous family run hotel. There was 10 of us in 3 rooms for my sons stag party in Munich, we were slightly concerned about the distance from the centre of Munich but it proved to be no problem at all . The sation is a 10 minute stroll and a further 15-20 mins you're in Munich! The staff are amazingly friendly and helpful, rooms are clean and the breakfasts perfect. When I return to Munich I will definitely stay at the west side.

Ideally located for Munich with a 30 minute or so commute or a 15 min walk to closest train station this hotel is good for those travelling to Munich or surrounding areas. The staff were all very friendly and helpful.
The rooms are very large and well equipped however they do not have air con so if you're happy to have the windows open on a hot night this shouldn't put you off.
Breakfast was very tasty and on a nice day you can sit outside in the garden to eat it. My room also had a small balcony which was nice to relax on at night.
I will definitely stay here again when in town.

Extremely kind and courteous staff. World class breakfast and excellent coffee! Clean and comfortable. I had a balcony with the room and left the door open in the evening to get cool fresh air. The staff is extremely helpful. The room also has a mini bar so you can enjoy a late night snack.
