We have spent a long Advent weekend at the Ibis Budget in Munich. I completely understand the logic behind the budget lodging and I fully support it - we planned on sightseeing the whole day and we only needed two rooms only to sleep in, and we expected these rooms to be clean and warm, without any luxury, and this is what we have got.

I am familiar with the concept of cheap hotels but the Ibis took it a bit too far - there is no wardrobe in the room, only several hangers besides the desk and two teeny-tiny shelves. So, if you're are staying more than a single night, if there is more than one person in the room, if you're travelling in winter, when the clothes are bulky... You get the picture - you can't put your things anywhere and the only thing you can do is to live from the suitcase. And, yes, there's no place for the suitcase either, so you just have to put it somewhere in the room and jump over it. The rooms are not so small that a wardrobe wouldn't be possible, they are just very badly designed.

The other thing are the towels. There is only one (1) towel per guest, so the idea is that you wipe your intimate parts and your face in the same towel. That is not "budget", that's simply disgusting. How much do you save by giving people just one towel, Ibis? Is it really worth it? Had we known that was the case, we would have brought our own set of towels with us, but we really didn't expect such substandard service in the middle of Europe in the year 2017.

On the other hand, breakfast was very good and I think it suits a large range of tastes. (I would only add the ordinary, plain cooked ham - Presschinken.) The croissants are to die for! They were as good as the ones from Paris. :-) (Breakfast is not included in the room price, but I would recommend taking it.)

Everyone we have met - people at the front desk, cleaning ladies and waitresses at breakfast - was very nice and friendly.

Our room was overlooking the train tracks, so it was quite noisy at night, but we managed to get some sleep.

The hotel is quite far from the centre, but there is an underground station about five minutes from the hotel and you're easily connected with the whole city. It is not very far are the Olympic Park and the BMW Welt and Museum, which is a nice place to visit.

All in all, this is a hotel that I would have a hard time recommending to anyone. I would however visit it again, but I would be prepared to bring my own towels and not to stay longer than a single night. For a longer stay on the budget, I would try to find something else.

A functional budget hotel - all the basic amenities but rather spartan. However, it has comfortable and decent sized beds.
The hotel is located a short walk from the Oberwiesenfeld U bahn station (a comfortable walk with light hand luggage but not with heavy bags), so the centre of Munich can be reached quickly and easily.
However, there are no bars, restaurants or shops in the immediate vicinity of the hotel - just flats, a school, a large building site and industrial units - so it's strictly for sleeping.

We stayed here for three nights. The rooms were quite a bit cheaper than the tourist sections of Munich. Because we arrived by other than car (train), they gave us daily free passes for local trams and trains. Room was very large, great size bathroom. Staff very friendly. We also liked having local restaurants nearby that weren't so touristy. There is a grocery store within two blocks. They took great care of us!

This brand used to be good, a very long time ago, but now Accor has 40 brands under their control so now it's just a bland corprorate machine.
Extremely rude senior desk staff and management. If you have a problem they will tell you it's your problem, not theirs. Super noisy rooms. Blocked showers.
Breakfast is made from a food grade below a UN food parcel.
And if you try and complain, good luck trying to find a phone number where they speak English, because despite them saying there is one, there isn't.
And your email complaint? Don't bother as that goes straight to their "We don't give a f*#k" box.
They should just have a sign above the entrance saying "Give us your money then hurry up and leave"
Save your money and sleep in a tent.

Don’t stay here. Almost €100 and the a/c didn’t work. There were spider webs everywhere, but even the spiders didn’t stay, so our room was filled with moths and mosquitoes. Beds are very hard and they wouldn’t let us have extra pillows. Shower is in the room - NOT in the bathroom. The rooms are tiny but we knew that- no complaints there, but something you should be aware of. The location isn’t even that great. The only thing I can compliment is the snack bar.

It's far from the city center and main attractions but there is a train station nearby. Parking place (not included) is expensive as any parking place in Munich. The staff is helpful and polite and you can buy some good cheap beer inside the hotel.

We spent three nights here during the Oktoberfest, and it was great for the money. The rooms and the hotel were clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were small, although slightly bigger than other ibis budget hotels I've been to before and was certainly enough for a few nights.
The hotel has a good location, a few minutes walk from an U-bahn station, 15 minutes from the city centre, the Olympiapark and the BMW Museum is just one stop away.

It is an Ibis hotel with a very good cost benefits rate. The breakfast was offered with a good and convincing arguments and it worths, because it is very complete and with good products. The hotel is very weel located near to the metro station Obewiesenfeld, which helps you to go anywhere in München. I only had a bad room neighbour but it was not the hotel fault. The room were very clean with a comfortable bed.
