Very enjoyable atmosphere, food was delicious and our child’s plain pasta (I know😂) was her favourite meal in all of Dinkelsbühl. Zef Lesi recommendations were delicious for us adults! Highly recommended for anyone who wants fabulous German food, hospitality and excellent customer service with a smile. Thank you Zef!
For 156 euro, one expects a high quality room. Unfortunately, it is filled with old furniture, the carpet is from grandmas time (at least) and the heating distributes a dusty smell everywhere. When we Confronted the owner with questions about the high price, he said that the room is meant for six people (!) I attach a picture for you to have a look at the quality of the room.
Very old hotel - pre Columbus - with so much personable charm in a very old town. We loved our stay. Even booked an extra night. Big comfortable bed in a big room overlooking the church square. Good breakfast. Nice staff.
One of our step on the Romantic Road journey through Bavaria was Dinkelsbuhl. A lovely small city in which you can stay 1-2 days to explore it. We chose the Goldene Rose pension which was just lovely. The look and feel is genuine, the dinner was great, rooms was clean and big enough, we had a secured parking place and we were just in the city center, in front of the church. In the morning you can have your run just outside the city walls and you can do it 3 times in one hour - simply amazing: fresh air, lot of forest and birds singing - fully refreshing. Breakfast was not impressive but OK. The interned was good (not great) and the TV super small but the big issues were the following 2: - at 6 AM sharp the church started to make his duty for at least 10 minutes in a row which was more than enough to wake up the whole city and surroundings :) - no air conditioning in the room can be disturbing during hot summer days. I will definitely comeback one day. Enjoy!
This hotel has great character, with rooms on three floors. The reception is on the first floor. Our room was on the third floor, with access only via stairs. So not so easy for those who struggle with more than one flight of stairs. There is a small but adequate breakfast room on the first floor, and a large restaurant and bar on the ground floor. We had an excellent dinner, and the breakfast was continental but tasty. The room was a decent size and very clean. Beds were comfortable. Do not expect views from a third floor room; the window is basically a skylight. The staff are very friendly and English is spoken. The hotel is located right in the market place next door to the church - the bells start to ring at 6AM, and ring on the hour after that! The hotel offers two parking areas, both accessed from Turmgasse, which runs down the right hand side of the hotel. car parking costs 6 Euros a day.
