Lovely hotel right in the pedestrian zone with excellent restaurant. Private parking right on the premises in the back, accessed from the alley. Ask for directions because it’s a little tricky the first time. TIP: Don’t ask for a room with a view. You will end up on the 4th floor and there’s an extreme amount of stairs with no elevator.

We ate at the restaurant after visiting Neuschwanstein. The schnitzels were delicious and the beer good too. Nice vibe in the restaurant also and they allowed dogs. Conveniently located only a few minutes from the train station, so ideal for day-trippers like us from Munich.

Thee adults and one baby stayed in Hotel Ludwigs and found it great accommodation in Fussen. As some previous reviewers have mentioned, "reception" is really just a guy behind a desk that comes in from the restaurant, but SO WHAT? Does a lack of reception desk really make or break it for you?

The rooms were clean, recently updated and comfortable. I would highly recommend this spot!

I stayed at Hotel Ludwig for one evening in October 2021. I was pleasantly surprised at everything this hotel offered. Directions provided by the hotel were spot on and allowed me to reach the “secluded” parking lot that was between hotel buildings with ease. Upon check-in, the staff spoke English and assisted myself and 2 friends in getting to our room and having dinner. Unfortunately, the hotel does not have an elevator so we had to hike up four levels to our room. However, the room was PHENOMENAL!! It was a quadruple room and was very spacious! There were 3 of us in the room and there was plenty of room for 3 women to each have their own space!! The beds were comfortable and the room was warm (it was cold outside!) and the bathroom was huge. We had dinner at their restaurant and I was very happy with the extensive menu and wine options (try the dry Riesling!), food was great. The bartender was very attentive and suggested local drinks for us besides the wine. Checkout was smooth and quick and we were allowed to leave the car in the parking lot until we were done shopping that morning. Perfect location directly adjacent to a very large shopping pedestrian zone. Overall, stay was exceptional; I would give them 10 stars if I could—definitely recommend this hotel and I WILL be staying here again when I return to Füssen!

We stayed here as a family of four and broke out into two rooms with two individuals in each room. My parents had a lovely stay in their room. We began a lovely stay in our room, but unfortunately came to soon find out we did not have hot water. When we informed the front desk staff of this, we were dismissed and told that the problem could not be fixed and they could not do anything about it. They did not offer to find any solution such as a different room. The next morning when I spoke to a different staff member about the issue they too said there is nothing we could do, and when we asked if we could have a discount or a small refund on our room, they did not accommodate. They said the most we could have was some free tea at the breakfast.

Price quality was very bad. We got a too small room where we should sleep with 4. Almost dangerous to walk in as there was no space to walk and leave luggage. Still they asked for same price as normal superior room. An employee agredled and gave us a small discount and then later the manager came back and wanted to argue on it again. Bed are really bad also and it is so hot in the hotel.

Racist and unacceptable behavior of the employees of Hotel Ludwigs is shocking.
Me and 4 of my friends were denied booking through Booking.com because of our nationality, as we are Ukrainians . We tried to contact the property, see the screenshot attached for the results we got.
The only thing they ever replied to us was : " glory to the russia", and canceled our stay.
Avoid at all costs!!

We stayed for one night in this hotel. Check-in took for an hour because the employees were too busy to help. The room we finally got was otherwise quite good but the room smelled like there was used some poisonous chemical just before we got there. At night time we realized that our beds were full of bed-bugs...biting us.
We had to sleep the rest of the night in our car (couldn't stay in the room) because in the hotel there is no service at nights. In the morning we told the whole story to a lady who came to cook breakfast. But we got no service from her, just snapping and crude behavior against us. We had to manage by ourselves! After getting back home from our trip I realized that my body was covered whit the red, ticklish bed bucks bites (100 of them). The worst thing was that the hotel staff knew that there has been bugs in the hotel. They have tried to poison them and still gave us the room. I cannot recommed this hotel to anybody after my experience!

This hotel is actually a good place to stay. The location is excellent, right in the old town center, with free parking at the rear. The rooms are small but newly renovated, the buffet breakfast is fine and the restaurant is very cozy and pleasant with decent food at reasonable prices. It’s a good base for sightseeing, exploring the old town and visiting the nearby castles.

However, the reason I am giving this hotel a zero rating is a matter of principle. I do not like to be mislead and this hotel did exactly that. The room prices were clearly stated on the hotel website and there was no fine print to contradict this. Unfortunately, the ultra smart desk clerk was cheekily adjusting these prices depending on which tourists were checking in. We were charged the higher room rate for a smaller room and we learned that some other guests were being charged extra for breakfast, even though this was included in the room rate. We did offer the clerk an opportunity to remedy his actions, however, his response was even more ridiculous. I will omit the details for lack of space. We know it happens all the time, but it is not acceptable to take advantage of unsuspecting tourists simply because they will not be returning. Any hotel which does this, fully deserves a zero rating.

Room Tip: All the rooms are understandably small because it is an older hotel in the center of an old town....

We arrived at Hotel Ludwig's in Fussen, hoping it was at least a decent hotel, since other hotels closer to Neuschwanstein Castle where either too pricey or completely full. At that time, we could not find information on this particular hotel, but the price was good and it was only a short distance from the castle by bus. What a surprise we had! First of all, it is located within only a 5 minute walk from the train station. It is in the middle of the most romanic little town, with it's cobbled stoned streets, German architecture, and beautiful Bavarian Alps as it's breath taking background. The rooms could be compared to a 4 star hotel. The hotel has been recently remodeled with gorgeous hard wood floors, new, clean, comfortable beds, flat screen tv, beautifully tiled bathrooms. We stayed in the least expensive room, the loft, which had a low slanted ceiling. But this ceiling was out of our way, and I fell in love with the charm of this hotel. We could only imagine how nice the other rooms would be....also priced well. Check out their web site, which we recently found, to view the other rooms. I'm sure you won't be disappointed. Each room seems to have a different veiw, including a view of the caslte. By the way, the loft is the only room with this slanted ceiling. Quiet....Yes! definitely, for a good nights rest. They also have a quaint, beautifully styled, German cafe inside this small hotel. Everyone who came in to eat said good morning to those who were already sitting down...how freindly was that? The warm and friendly staff makes your day start off in the right direction. By the way, a wonderful German style breakfast is also included in the price of your room.

Dinners are reasonably priced also, not to mention mouth watering meals. I have lots of dietary restrictions, and was able to speak with the chef, who created a wonderful roast chicken, delicious and within my restrictions. I don't know how he did it! I would have known if my restrictions had not been met, since, I would have gotten ill within the hour. But, I am happy to say, the meal was wonderful, and I had no reactions.

Finally, to get to the bus stop that takes you to Neuschwanstein Castle is only a 2 minute walk from Ludwig's. The buses leave serveral times throughout the day. The acutual bus ride lasts only about 10 minutes, and leaves you right at the entrance of the visitors center for the castle.
Neuschwwanstein Castle is site not to miss. But just a tip...If your walking is limited, or you are simply not up for a long, up hill walk, take the local bus up. Or if you can spend a little more money, take a horse and carriage ride up the hill, closer to the castle. Both means of transporation still do not go directly to the castle, but they still go up quite a distance and make the walk ALOT shorter...especially up hill.
