The location of the hotel was pretty good - probably a 5 mins walk from the station and very close to the town centre. It was also located opposite a small shopping mall with a supermarket! We accidentally entered through the restaurant entrance (a wooden door which has some steps ) - rather than the reception entrance (no steps) which was just a little further along (we didn't know it was there!) - so don't make this mistake like us!

We went for the themed room and it was a very comfortable and spacious room. The furnitures did match the medieval feel of the room's theme/ but it can also come off as a worn out as well.

Both the bedroom and bathroom was definitely spacious. We like the curtains that was draped around the bed as well as at the entry way between the bedroom and the bathroom.

Breakfast was decent with various options. There was definitely more cold dishes than warm though but I think that's their typical breakfast? The only negative is that it is best to make a reservation for dinner (don't just turn up) as they will turn you away.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay here.

Charming, spotless clean, well appointed, fantastic staff, and superb food on site. Our room was very comfortable and the heated floors, and premium linens and toiletries added an unexpected, upscale touch. If we ever return to Fussen, we would stay here, without question. We wish we could have stayed longer.

We stayed one night in this lovely, historic hotel. We were a family of four and stayed in one of the large historic rooms which featured a queen bed plus two single beds tucked away in separate alcoves - so everyone had their own space. The bathroom was fantastic with a deep soaking tub. The hotel was well run, and beautifully decorated in the local traditional style. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. We also dined in the hotel restaurant and it was also a very delicious dinner which we thoroughly enjoyed. This was the halfway point of a two week trip for us, so we appreciated the opportunity to use their coin laundry room and provided detergent. Fussen is a lovely town and the castles are incredible. Highly recommend Hotel Hirsch while visiting!

We stayed one night on our way to Austria and found the hotel to be very efficient and in a good location (across the street from the old town/restaurants). At first we wished we had been on a higher floor (there are only 3 floors, I think) but we were right across the breakfast room and that turned out to be incredibly convenient.

Instead of parking ourselves in the breakfast room in the morning we were able to get coffee, take it back to the room and drink it in a leisurely manner and then go back for breakfast…which we still took back to the room and ate…in a leisurely fashion. Other guests might have a different preference but it worked well for us.

Part of the hotel cost (a city tax) included a Fussen Card, which provided free bus transportation to/from Neuschwanstein Castle. We opted to do a one hour walk along a bike/pedestrian path and enjoyed just strolling.

One thing I would note is that there is limited parking in front of the hotel. If you are lucky to snag a spot, if you leave to drive to the castle, that spot may be gone when you return so please keep that in mind.

Finally, depending on the time you visit, you may need a restaurant reservation as places book quickly.

Enjoy!

The hotel is beautiful and it has an excellent location with a good breaKfast. The parking car is small but you can use a public parking in front of the hotel for 15€/day.
The room is ok for a superior room but overall I think it is a little over priced.

Oh my goodness this was the cutest and best hotel! The dining rooms all have traditionally carved and painted chairs. The food was beautiful - we ate dinner and breakfasts there.
Our room was large and had opening window/door which was such a relief as the room was very warm despite the cold outside. The bathroom was floor heated and had a towel warmer (which was great for drying clothes).
The bed was very comfortable.
So convenient with a supermarket behind it and only an arcade away from the old town (which is just beautiful).
Our favourite hotel in Germany!

Traditional from the outside but our room was recently renovated and extremely comfortable. Within walking distance to just about everything, train station, cafes, bars, restaurants, the castles and even the border with Austria! What more could you want?

Being vegetarian we were slightly worried about breakfast but there was no need, plenty on offer for any diet. We also dined in the hotel and enjoyed drinking beer in the company of locals.

We were blown away by Fussen and this hotel, we will certainly be returning very soon!

We stayed with our grown up son and booked two themed rooms. The staff were lovely and the restaurant first class, we ate their twice and couldn’t fault it. The food is presented beautifully. We ate outside in the beer garden both times. Breakfast is also nice, as others have said, the Bircher Muesli is delicious and the best I’ve had. Also the coffee is good.

Our rooms were pleasant, there was a shower over the bath.

We loved the location, we walked to lake Forggensee, the town, which is just across the road and very pretty, the Lech Falls, stunning and the tree top walk. We were able to visit the castles and many lakes and cable car station all within a 15 minute drive.

Our rooms were at the front and a little noisy but we knew that before we came, it didn’t affect our sleep. If the windows were closed, there was no noise at all. You can ask for rooms at the back.

We loved Fussen and this hotel was very fitting to the area so felt right.

Front reception was wonderful and very helpful. Gave us a map. Very professional. We returned to the hotel for dinner because of the imminent rain. The food was delicious but I’ve never felt so uncomfortable or unwanted traveling outside of the USA. Dirty looks from waitress, taking orders from three other groups seated after us, repeatedly having to ask for water, waiting until the room was almost empty to receive the check (busy clearing table for no one waiting), greeting was forced and insincere at best while others were greeted in a warm and friendly manner. My husband who is very good at ignoring these sorts of things said he would have walked out if it wasn’t raining so hard. The food was very good once it finally arrived but the hostility couldn’t be overlooked. We’ve traveled to Japan, Italy, Netherlands, France, Spain and other parts of Germany and we’ve never been treated like this. It was sad and disappointing. We went through a travel agency to book this multi country vacation and we will let them know to steer other Americans away from places where we aren’t wanted.

We booked 3 nights stay at the Hotel Hirsch, near the end of our Christmas Trip to Germany. Fussen is a big small town; not a lot of shopping OR restaurants. The hotel was perfectly positioned with a nice view of Historic Fussen & provided parking right at the hotel. There was a mini-shopping center just behind the hotel w/a grocery store, drug store & ladies clothing store. Hotel was very clean & staff were SO kind & helpful & we felt most welcome there! Breakfast was AMAZING! Short drive (5 min.) to Neuschwanstein Castle & King Ludwig's parent's castle (forgot that name) & I would venture to guess that it would be a wonderful walk or bicycle ride in the summer! Good location to Day Trip to Garmisch (Zugspitze)!

We actually rented bikes at the train station and biked to Castle. It was an easy and pleasant ride. We arrived early and had pre-purchased our tickets, and thus avoided a long line. Even early there were alot of people from large buses waiting in line.
