Stayed at Barbarossa for 2 nights and the environment didn't met our expectation: While the hotel appeared very romantic and bohemian on its promotional images, in reality it was not only mediocre but pretty worn down: the breakfast hall has dingy walls and paintwork which seem haven't renovated for centuries. Also the breakfast was overpriced but with limited choices. The... More

We had been traveling by car for eight hours so really needed a comfortable place to stay. This is definitely a different type of property. It was somewhat difficult to find and even more difficult to get proper parking for the car without the threat of being towed. As I went up the elevator with some other guests we arrived... More

Blink and you'll miss the entrance to the hotel, which is in a little alcove on the right hand side of the street! The elevator will take you to the 4th floor (or you can lug your bags up), and you'll enter the funny little hotel space. There is a reception desk to the right (I almost didn't see it),... More

Very good location, short walk from HBF and short walks to most attractions in Wurzburg. Slightly strange but Staff are not in the Hotel at all times but they are a quick buzz away so no real issues in the end. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Really good value for money. Pillows are a little flat though Breakfast is a... More

Christine, the owner, is pleasant & interested in learning about you & your travels. Good value for clean & comfortable room. Hearty breakfast! Location is close to the famous bridge & other sights. If you are coming by car, Christine gives good advice about parking. You can easily make a day trip to Rothenberg from here.

If you want to visit Wuerzburg, Hotel Barbarossa is a very good choice to stay at.. It is located just 5 minutes walking distance from the main train station. The rooms are cosy and clean. All 17 rooms are on the 4th floor of a 4 story building. A small elevator will take you to the hotel floor. The prices... More

Let us start with the pecculiar thing: The hotel is on the 4th floor with a lift leading up to an un-manned reception. You can then through an intercom contact the owner/manager who can guide you to your key and give instructions regarding the parking of the car. It is hard to call that personal service, but in fact it... More

Great location, reasonably priced, and a friendly staff. The only negative is that the attic room is extremely got in the summer. We did find a fan in the hallway that we snagged, so it wasn't as bad as it could've been.

We feel we must counter the extremely negative review posted earlier labelled "dreadful"as, in our opinion, much of it is factually incorrect. Our experience has been mostly positive. I can see the difficulty in driving here (we came by train and it couldn't have been easier to find), but would expect that to be the case in many German cities.... More

Finding the hotel by car can be a bit of a hassle, but that's not the hotel's fault. Make sure to find a parking garage close by beforehand! (Ours was just a ten minute walk away.) The entrance is not easily spotted, as the hotel shares the building with a few small medical practices, so prepare for a 4-floor journey... More
