The hotel is at the very heart of Berlin, however, the rooms are extremely small and we had a room directly to the street. This was unfortunate, because right in front of the window is a tram line with up to four trams gathering.

We booked a medium size room which was nice, clean and contemporary in style with an en-suite. Our son booked an extra small room but the size was adequate, room to walk around the double bed, a wardrobe and en-suite. Bottled water was provided in the rooms every day. Breakfast at the hotel was continental style buffet with plenty of...

Stayed here 3 nights; was worried about noise in the beginning because tram stops just outside the hotel - no need to do so. Alexanderplatz is very close, train just is just behind the hotel. Next to Hackesche Höfe and loads of restaurants, markets, ethnic food ... Staff is great, good WIFI and - hooray - there is free, good...

I have stayed many times at Hotel Hackescher Markt since 2003, and I am always very satisfied with my stay. Excellent hotel with a very good breakfast and always good service from the staff. One minus, though, is that the hotel does not have aircondition. That can be a challenge during hot summer nights in Berlin. That is a minor...

Close to all major sites and adjacent to s- bahn and trams. Efficient reception. Rooms modern and spotless. December visit, room warm and comfortable. Not too sure about high summer with no apparent air conditioning. Breakfast room and "spread" outstanding although at 15 euros not cheap. Highly recommended at 120 euros/night for M standard double room - 20 square metres.

EXCELLENT location close to restaurants, shops, and transport! The facility is well-maintained and well appointed. The staff was courteous and attentive The room was small and tight - per the European model. The noise from the trams below was innocuous in winter. Our only complaints (which we mentioned to the front desk staff) were insufficient cold water pressure on the...

Hotel Hackescher Markt is great. Lovely lobby, rooms, and terrific breakfast. The staff is very very helpful. The only downside is that the WIFI is quite limited, except in the lobby. But this was only a slight inconvenience compared to all else, including the convenient location.

We stayed 3 nights. The location is very good and the stuff is nice and attentive. The issue is the noise from the train. If you don't sleep very strong at night the noise will wake you up. The room nice – it's is clean and simple. Not including even coffee stand.

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
