Prenzlauer Berg
No Berlin neighbourhood has undergone a greater change than Prenzlauer Berg. The artists and non-conformists that defined the district’s intriguing subculture in the 1980s and 90s have been replaced by a young, hip crowd that frequents the many cafes. Where there were once run-down houses in the shadow of the Berlin Wall, there are now designer shops. Beautiful old homes have been modernized and renovated, and on Sundays, thousands turn the park next to remnants of the wall into a playground for street artists, musicians, and flea market shoppers. This attracts young urban families who enjoy the balance of big city life and small-town comfort. Meanwhile, trendy, young, upper-class visitors from all over the world are attracted to the local high-end shops, cafés, and sophisticated bars and restaurants. The merits of this transformation are a favorite topic of debate around the city, but it makes for some of the best people-watching Berlin has to offer.

Tried to book a room, I got a very rude person on the phone when I called up. Didn't bother to book and instead looked elsewhere. Suggestion to the owner - be more polite with your potential customers.

Although we booked an apartment 6,5 months in advance (and by then there were enough accommodations in this and other places), the owner managed to overbook our stay?! And simply wrote us we had to find someplace else just a week upon arrival. Wish we've had the second booking

I have stayed here in the past but I don't know whether I fully appreciated it. It is situated so centrally, just in the most convenient area. You can get a tram from the end of the street to the river. There are a number of cafes with deckchairs worth a visit on a sunny day.

These people do not take a second to talk to customers or hesitate to shout at them on the phone, when they are asking them for favours. I accidentally canceled my booking and was trying to get a room again. "MY ANSWER IS NO!! GOODBYE!!" was the only thing I heard. .. and this

Hello If you're arriving at Hauptbahnhof (central) railway station, take the S-Bahn (metropolitan railway) towards Alexanderplatz/Ostbahnhof. At Alexanderplatz change to subway line U2 in the direction of Pankow. Go three stops to Eberwalderstrasse station. From there it is a short walk to Milastraße or you can take the northbound M1 tram one stop to Milastraße. Total travel time about 15 minutes.

"Rooms at the back are probably quieter than at the front of the building."
"just do not book here!!!"
"Room 5 is a single room and although small, I loved staying there. My son and I also stayed in Room 3 which has LOADS of room."
"If you get room 6, ask for a change. They smoke right outside the door and even tho the walls are insulated, you can smell it in the foyer"
"chose a room to the back"
