We stayed in Schoenhouse for 2 nights with 2 teenagers. Despite the cold, the appartment was very well heated. As said in other reviews, the location is great, walking distance to Alexandersplatz and also all sorts of eclectic shops around. Food shopping could not be easier - there is a Bio Market in front of the building which sells everything...

Hotel is situated in 2 minutes from Rosa Luxemborg Platz u-banh station and 10 minutes from Alexanderplatz. Staff is friendly. Rooms are spacy and clean (but cleaning aren't made everyday). It was cold in the room (but outside temperature was -10C). Breakfast is small and it is to have breakfast in one of the caffees situated nearby. Supermarket Rewe is...

We stayed recently at Schoenhouse (week of January 1st) and were on the whole very disappointed. We had high expectations given the very favorable Tripadvisor ranking, other reviews online and direct feedback from friends we trust. The hotel was "fine," but by no means recommended for a first time stay in Berlin (or even a second or third.... ) There...

These apartments are located on the border of Prenzlauerberg and Mitte near the great alte Schonhausser Allee. The apartments are big (we had a junior), clean and have nice interiors. In the entrance of apartments there is a nice little shop with cheap and good breakfast.

These apartments are perfectly located between Mitte and Prenzlauer Berg, and the building sports apartments of different sizes. We stayedin the senior apartment, whcih comes with a kitchen and a dinnertabel, and has a nicebalcony overlooking the inner courtyard. Wooden floors and cabinets createawelcoming atmosphere. The only downside to all this wood was that the underside of the table and...

We stayed 4 nights in the Schoenhouse Apartments in Prenzlauer Berg (see http://www.schoenhouse.de/). We had the 2-bedroom/1 bath Deluxe apartment. It was on the 3rd floor with no elevator. They helped us get the bags up to the apartment upon arrival, but even without the luggage, the 4 flights were a good, steep walk. The apartment was very comfortable. My...

This is our second time at the Schoenhouse Apts in Berlin. Our first time was in 2009. We stayed at both the beginning and end of our trip both times. We were again extremely pleased with our stay. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The Prenzlauer Berg area is such a great place to stay. There are many restaurants,...

Staying in Prenzlauer Berg

Neighbourhood Profile
Prenzlauer Berg
No Berlin neighbourhood has undergone a greater change than Prenzlauer Berg. The artists and non-conformists that defined the district’s intriguing subculture in the 1980s and 90s have been replaced by a young, hip crowd that frequents the many cafes. Where there were once run-down houses in the shadow of the Berlin Wall, there are now designer shops. Beautiful old homes have been modernized and renovated, and on Sundays, thousands turn the park next to remnants of the wall into a playground for street artists, musicians, and flea market shoppers. This attracts young urban families who enjoy the balance of big city life and small-town comfort. Meanwhile, trendy, young, upper-class visitors from all over the world are attracted to the local high-end shops, cafés, and sophisticated bars and restaurants. The merits of this transformation are a favorite topic of debate around the city, but it makes for some of the best people-watching Berlin has to offer.
