The hotel is located very close to the entrance of Sanssouci palace and the park, and it's about 10 minutes walk to the main pedestrian street where many restaurants are. There is a small garden with nice views towards the city. The hotel also has a gym, sauna and bike rentals. The rooms are newly renovated and cosy.
We would highly recommend to take the breakfast - it's only 11 euros / person and there is a wide variety of everything on offer. The reception is very friendly and helpful.
You can reach the hotel from the train station either by taxi (about 15 euros) or by bus. If you take the bus, you need to walk about 300 meters. There seems to be a shortage of taxis in Potsdam though, if you need one, it's best to try to order it well in advance. When we went back to the train station, it took about 45 minutes for taxi to come.

This delightful little hotel is located on the hill above Potsdam. It provides extremely convenient access to Sans Souci park and all of the destinations therein. At the same time, it is an easy downhill walk into downtown Potsdam. It is also possible to rent bikes from the hotel for just €10 a day, which facilitates wanderings farther afield. We picked this hotel because we wanted to be on a quiet street in a tranquil location, and that is exactly what we got.

The breakfast is also noteworthy for its quality and abundance.

We stayed one night at this hotel during a road trip stop in Potsdam. It is a 15 minute walk from the city centre, with some parking available within the property to leave the car behind and explore. This is a B&B type of hotel within an historic building, where there are no elevators. Check in was quick, but we had to haul our heavy luggage to the second floor. Rooms were quaint, spacious and comfortable, with decent bathroom facilities. There's no AC, so can be warm in summer, and the rooms could do with better or extra pillows. The sound on our TV was not working properly, but was not a huge issue as we were much more interested in seeing the Unesco World Heritage town of Potsdam, which is well worth a visit. We enjoyed the buffet breakfast, which is served in the dining room that has some tables on the terrace too. There are complimentary tablets in the rooms and public areas with free internet access, but no other wifi. Check out was equally simple. Although a short stay, we enjoyed it.

The hotel is clean and with some stories about the building to tell, but the place is not what I would expect from 4 star hotel. I would rate the place as guest house, with a lot of home kind solutions. Room was very clean and thoughtfully equiped, but there are some comfort details missing, as for example bed side tables. But main experience we have got from poor bed comfort. Mattress was to soft and gave not enough healty support. Double mattress swayed on whole surfes at every small movement. If you are changing the position during the sleep, person next to you will definatelly feel this very much.

Potsdam really has a nice feel to it and this hotel in the main will help enhance your experience in this town. There is on-site parking and the hotel staff seemed to all speak very good English. The hotel is located in a nice area of the town and as previous reviewers have commented, is within easy walking distance of Sansoucci Park and the Schloss Sansoucci. I make that point as to the unaware, the Park Sansoucci is enormous and exploring all the palaces and pavillions needs at least a whole day. Also be minded that the Schloss Sansoucci is closed on Mondays. This is the palace of Frederick the Great that I would recommend pre-booking on-line in order to take the tour with the assistance of an audio guide.

So for the Park the location is great, however although the hotel is only a steady 10-15 minute walk to the centre of Potsdam, I would point out that it is a gradual walk back up the hill to return to the hotel. This could prove tiring to some, particularly if the weather is warm.

My wife and I had a room at the front of the hotel which was very spacious and clean. We had a nice little corridor with the en-suite bathroom leading off. Large bathroom with double sink and a walk-in shower cubicle. We also liked the fact that the WC was contained in a separate area but still within the bathroom for extra privacy. We also had tea/coffee making facilities, a mini-bar and a large flatscreen TV.
A couple of issues that I would mention relate firstly to the cleaners. They cleaned our room on our first morning whilst we were taking breakfast. On our second morning, the day that we were leaving, the cleaner attempted to get into our room at about 8am. Whilst accepting their enthusiasm, I do think that it was a little too early and also had the potential for embarrasment on both sides!
The second point I would make is that acroos the road from the hotel (and our room) is something of a building site. On our first morning, the work started mid- morning however the following morning, plant and workers began operating at 7am.

Breakfast is tremendous and probably the best that we encountered on our 3 week tour of North & Eastern Germany. Suffice to say that you really could have almost anything that you desire and not only that, but the quality of food was excellent. On appropriate days one can take breakfast on the patio area.

The friendly staff provided good advice in respect of tours and places to eat. We took their advice in relation to an Italian restaurant called Assaggi in Luisenplatz and enjoyed probably our best meal of the holiday. Good contemporary surroundings, friendly staff and excellent food. We also ate in another Italian restaurant that we discovered whilst walking in the Dutch Quarter called Noidue Ristorante. Although more traditional in appearance than Assaggi, the food was also very good.

Another hotel recommendation was to take Der Alte Fritz guided tour of Potsdam. We thoroughly enjoyed our 2.5 hour tour and although tour guide delivered the tour in German, we were fortunate that at certain stop off points he would take time out to speak to us in English and provided an abridged version of the sites. There was also the usual headphones and English translation whilst the tour was in progress.

We shall return to Potsdam and most probably to this hotel.

Small family-owned "castle-like" hotel with so much love for details. The location is very good, the rooms are clean, it's quit, the breakfast can keep up with any 5* hotel - it's even better! The owners and the staff are from the area and you can feel that they love their job. Thanks for the wonderful stay!

The highlights: The rooms are clean, well-designed, spacious and cosy. Plus, a variety of food choices for breakfast! Fruit jams, all the bread you could ever want, a small salad bar, muesli and cereal, cakes, fruits... A real German breakfast. There's an observatory tower with a 360 degree view of Potsdam six floors above the reception. The gardener takes wonderful care of the hotel's home-grown vegetables and sweet little flower patches. There's a large hill with casual seating areas around the back of the guest house which overlooks part of the city of Potsdom. Great areas for reading, relaxing, enjoying the sunshine.

Location is supreme. Extremely close to Schloss Sanssouci in one direction, and in the other direction Luisenplatz (tourist center) and various restaurants, cafes and food choices. Despite how central it is to tourist attractions, the hotel remains to be peaceful and a heavenly retreat for its guests.

Most of importantly, Hotel Villa Monte Vino's friendly service and lovely 'homestay' environment created by the owner family was also a great highlight. We felt warm, cosy and welcomed.

Thanks for the wonderful stay, we hope to be back again soon!

This experience was one the better in the many I had so far during the many travels over the past years. Ending in a suburb villa, run by a family that put their heart in the business will offer you that special experience. The villa is absolutely fabulous with a 360° 4 stories high which offer you a glimpse of Potsdam, next to a uniquely decorated bar and reception. We had a family room and the two rooms were extremely spacious, comfortable and the maintenance was excellent. This is how you can enjoy a couple of days in this unique environment. We only booked one night but if we would have known up front it would have been more. Thumbs up for this hotel.

Villa Monte Vino is an all around great hotel from the staff to the location. The staff is friendly and will accommodate your needs. Parking is gated and secure. The foods on the breakfast bars are fresh, tasty and much of it homemade. The special made bread is a must try. Sanssouci Schloss and park is within 5 minutes and the old town is a 10 minute walk. There is also a look out tower within the hotel which provides a 360 degree view of the city. The rooms are large and comfortable.

I would like to give it 5 stars but its not that nice. A great little hotel though with an excellent location.short walk potsdamer platz and even shorter walk to San Succi palace. The Breakfast is ridiculous- that was 5 stars! the room we stayed had two bedrooms and were ok. no air conditioning and it was a little warm when we were there. The curtains are pretty cheap too. Other than that it was a very fun boutique hotel. Everyone who works their were very nice.
