First things first, the walk from the station might seem sketchy at first glance but the area is always full of people, plenty of bars, restaurants and shops, not dodgy at all! Having said that the hotel is on a quiet side street. I must say that online this place looks pretty quirky but in reality it's more trying to...

I found this to be an excellent hotel, with friendly staff, beautiful decor and a great breakfast. I had booked room only, and was able to add breakfast as and when I wanted to eat in the hotel. The room was very large with a separate bathroom and toilet, and a small hallway. The only negative for this room was...

It really is full of old world charm. Room small, but enough. Wifi not fantastic, but certainly not a huge problem either. There is off street parking if you get in early- there is also a parking block not far from hotel. Staff friendly and helpful. At first we thought the area was not too great- slightly out of main...

We found this hotel quite enjoyable, with character, with beautiful interior design (on the classic side, traditional but very pleasing) and very good service. The room was extremely lovely, very cozy, and the bed amazingly comfortable. The location is good, within walking distance to the city center. However, it is on the other side on the railway station, and the...

The hotel is located about 500 meters from the Haupt Bahnhof Sud main railway and metro stations. The metro is the key to getting around Hamburg and is great value. Car parking at the hotel is limited to 4 or 5 cars and is not bookable in advance, it is also quite expensive. The city car parks which you will...

We stayed for 3 days and very much enjoyed our time at the hotel. Yes the area is very cosmopolitan but we had no problems, we ate in one of the street side cafes in Hansa Platz on 2 evenings and had great meals and friendly service (incl. free drink after we paid for our meal, you don't get that...

This hotel is most definitely an oasis in a desert ! We couldn't fault the hotel in the slightest , the staff, the food, the decor etc were second to none however sadly I wont be returning purely based on its location. The directions from the station take you right through a seedy, dirty and intimidating sex strip area which...

As soon as you are inside, you will feel cosy. Every corner looks decorated with as much love as the pictures suggest. The breakfast was good, the room didn't lack anything. The staff is very attentive (confiscating saltshaker you changed with your neighbors table immediately to check what's wrong with it). The down side: The walk from the mail train...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Hotel City House is a city villa that was built around 1890 and has since been renovated and modernised. It is quite possibly one of Hamburg's last insider tips. The hotel is an architectural gem, situated in a quiet side road, yet right in the heart of Hamburg, just a few minutes' walk from the main train station, the Alster Lake and the elegant shopping area. ... more   less
