This is not a 5 star hotel but the prices fits the level of service and standard of rooms perfectly! Everything is clean and the breakfast buffet for 7 euro is good! The only minus was the poor wifi which can be a problem when coming from abroad.

I didn't try the WiFi nor breakfast, as we spent almost the entire day outside. The surrounding area has everything you need. The hostel itself is easy - going, clean and the rooms are very spacious as they are wheelchair - friendly. Overall there was nothing I could complain about on our Friday till Sunday stay at Schanzenstern.

Kitchen corner has fridge (unfortunately no little freezer part for ice cubes), oven, microwave, coffee machine, toaster...

Pro: First thing to say about the hostel is that it was very clean. And the location is wonderfull: In the heart of Altona where there are plenty things to explore. The rooms were solid, nothing fancy but one had everything what is needed. Contra: Before arriving in the evening of the 16th of April we called the hostel, since...

Nice location by the train station with plenty of restaurants and shopping nearby. Staff are friendly and helpful, room was simple and somewhat sterile feeling but clean and everything in good working order. Nothing to really complain about. I guess the worst thing was the TV had almost only German channels, I think CNN was the only thing in English.
