We had a room on the backside, so it was more quiet. However, there is no screen on the windows and there was no breeze on the hot night we stayed (room 42) so the room on the 2nd floor was quite hot for sleeping. (The ground floor was much cooler.) The room was nice – had enough space though... More

We stayed overnight here so I could see the art nouveau sites in Darmstadt, which were amazing. It's about 15 minutes from Darmstadt in Griesheim. They don't have a restaurant but there are several good ones in close walking distance, BUT the breakfast is out of this world with everything fresh from the bakery. Our stay here really started off... More

Spent a week in Alsbach-Hahnlein for business. Could have stayed anywhere. Chose the Hotel Café Nothnagel for its quaintness and good reviews and vicinity to Frankfurt, and other destinations. What a pleasant, almost perfect experience! Martin and staff went overboard making sure our stay was exceptional. The rooms are spacious, super clean, and comfortable. The breakfast in the morning is... More

Have been there twice. Once, for a few days and another unexpected stay due to airport problems in Frankfurt. The breakfast is excellent, probaby helped by the fact that the hotel is part of a bakery. The hotel is convenient to Frankfurt, making it unnecessary to fight their traffic.

The three story Hotel is actually in Griesheim....next to Darmstadt....20 minutes drive from FRA or take a bus directed to Darmstadt (25 minutes and about 8 Euros)...then jump on a little tram from Darmstadt to downtown Griesheim -- you'll see the hotel on the main street. Third generation owners....locals come from miles (KM) each morning to buy bakery products from... More

I had a room for one person. The pillows where much too thin. The shampoo bottle was empty. The room was clean and the breakfast excellent! Parking can be a problem. In the surroundings are enough shops. A supermarket is nearby. I had a good stay but a little bit expensive

Hi have grown up in this place nearly half century ago, it was a fine bakery, and whenever I have a chance to visit the area, this is where I stay. Unfortunately, it happens every ten years, or so, as I do not travel to Germany frequently anymore, having my residence on the other side of the world now. However... More

We always stay at this family run hotel when visiting Darmstadt as it offers a warm welcome and excellent service. The rooms are clean and the ensuite shower great. The beds are comfortable and we always sleep well as the rooms are quiet. The breakfast buffet is wonderful: pastry freshly baked in the inhouse bakery, fresh fruit, cereals and juices.... More

Due to the car show in Frankfurt, the Welcome and Maritim hotels in Darmstadt were booked. I'm glad this forced me to try something different. The Nothnagel is a simple German family run hotel. My room was small, however it was organized in a very effecient manner, so it felt more spacious. The room was clean and a good value.... More

My company use the Nothnagel every time we travel to Darmstadt, preferring to journey a few miles out of Darmstadt to Griesheim in order to stay at this friendly, family-run hotel, rather than stay in the chain hotels. The rooms are comfortable and always immaculately clean and tidy. Key things for me when travelling on business are a good night's... More
