Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A beautiful hotel in an amazing setting. Staff were friendly. It’s a bit on the expensive side for us Brits at the moment. We ordered the local Wild Boar Golash with pasta and it was amazing. Only gripe was the price of two lemonades and orange juices which cost €19.00. But after the walk from Rudesheim it kind of seemed worth it.

Not to recommend! Sloppy service, unfriendly team esp at reception. Oriented on making money on big business groups without doing any effort. 3 star level max. Rooms very basic, no „ don‘t disturb“ card available in the room. Very loud room service in the morning entering the room.

If you want poor, rude service who blatantly disregard putting the customer first, this is your place. Checked in, sat down for dinner and was served by a condescending waiter who nearly brought the table to tears. After leaving half of our food and going to complain to the manager (who had no concept of “the customer is right”), we walked straight up to our room, packed our bags and left. The “manager” was “kind enough” to even force us to pay for half-eaten food and a horrendous experience. An absolute joke. Absolutely the worst service ever had in Germany. This hotel is completely undeserving of a 4 star label.

We stayed here with all the staff of the company that I work for as the annual trip with colleagues. We recieved rooms in the coach house (annex), and my room was on the top and would be considered as a junior suite. Nice and roomy, a little bit dated both interior wise and bathroom wise, though very usable, and most of all clean! Tv set and channels are as normal in Germany a joke and only have 150 German channels. General mobile reception is poor end is between no service and Edge (2G), the hotel tries to compensate for this by offering decent WiFi for free. We enjoyed the breakfast, the general service level of the staff and the grounds of the property. It is situated a bit off the beaten track and is a 10 minute taxi ride from town, though plenty of free parking space. Biking is also interesting, but as we found out the hard way, what goes downhill 20 minutes, goes uphill (road back) for three gruelling hours.. :) all in all good experience! would however like to have a fridge in room, and a A/C in the summer...

I (white non German woman trying to speak German) came here with my boyfriend to have a beer and snacks. The manager came to tell us the whole terrasse was booked, even if it was empty. We could have a drink but no food. Five minutes later, another waiter (lovely BTW) took our order, we had food and drink without a problem, on a still empty terrasse. When we complained when paying, it seemed like not being a surprise at all to the rest of the staff... AVOID THIS PLACE.

We came for lunch one Saturday and while it was nice enough the staff kept coming in and asking everyone to be quiet because they were having training in the room next door to the restaurant.... Sorry but a place like this on a tourist trail....on a Saturday...asking paying customers to hush because of some training next door. Unacceptable. Nice food, shame about the above.

Bed: 7,5/10 This is an Old Charmer a bit in the middle of the no were or the forest. The hotel is a bit tired, squeaking floors and sound carries easily from hall way to rooms. The service was fairly pleasant. Not really good and absolutely not done with the intention to charm guests to come back. I am for example not coming back and not recommending it to friends.

This hotel seems to get a tough rap from some reviews. Staff were friendly and obliging and the hotel is a peaceful, green and rural spot to base a tour of the Rheingau. We were based in the annex (Cavaliers House) and rooms were basic but modern and perfectly adequate- it was nice to wake up to birdsong and walk across the courtyard to breakfast. We enjoyed the July weather taking dinner under the plane trees on the terrace. Overall good value and an enjoyable experience.

This was our second stay, and it was just as memorable as our first. This pristine location at the edge of the forest provides a peaceful and serene place to vacation. The first time we traveled to this hotel, we stayed in a room in the main building. This time we were in an out building, which felt very remote and very private. The fruhstuck is lovely, with the most delicious assortment of breads! This hotel is a lovely place to spend time and relax, and while it is good for families as well, it is truly a peaceful place. It is away from the main town of Ruedesheim, so don't be surprised by the length of the drive up the hill.
